Race Team Update – December 2020 Week #3

With one weekend left before Christmas the JConcepts race team continued to jingle all the way to the top of the podium around the nation. See where we won this past weekend in this edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out in sunny Antioch, CA which is the home of Delta RC Hobbies & Race Park. There team driver Derek Stephansen competed at Round 1 of their Electric Winter series which saw 113 entries. He reports that he took the double TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy classes! He used a combination of Green compound Ellipse fronts and Black compound Ellipse rears. His 2wd buggy also used a P2 body and the new Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.

Now let’s head east to the bright lights of Las Vegas, NV which is home to 702 RC Raceway. JConcepts driver Brian Perry recently competed at their Toys For Tots race and finished 2nd overall in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class while using a Finnisher body, Pin Downs and Swaggers tires!

Making a bee line east through the desert we find a new RC oasis in Albuquerque, NM. A new indoor track called Inside Line has opened and team driver Damian Lopez reports that he took 2nd overall in the Stock 2wd Buggy class while running on Gold compound Ellipses in the rear and Octagons in the front!

Now let’s shoot down to Grand Prairie, TX and check in with team driver Hunter La Flower who recently competed at Action Park RC. He competed in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and took both wins while running on Aqua compound Reflex tires!

Next, we go up to Tulsa, OK to check in with team driver Matthew Pyle. He competed recently at Shifty’s RC Raceway and finished 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and 5th in Mod 4wd Buggy! He ran on Silver compound Ellipses all day and said they were great!

Also competing there was team mate Braxten Culley. He took the TQ and win in the 4wd Buggy class and an unfortunate DNF in 2wd Buggy. He used Gold compound Ellipses on the rear of his 2wd with Gold compound Dirt Webs up front. His winning wheeler used Gold compound Dirt Webs all the way around.

Continuing north let’s stop in at Omaha, NE which is home to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex). There team driver Nate Sutherland was getting in some roundy round action for Round 3 of the HobbyPLEX Winter Oval Series. He finished 3rd in the Street Stock class while running on Silver compound Ellipses!

Moving to the east again we stop in at Fort Dodge, IA for Round 2 of the Winter Series at Iowa Outlaw RC.

Team driver Brandon Kearney competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and took the TQ and 3rd in 4wd and qualified and finished 4th in 2wd! He ran Swaggers and Twin Pins on both cars along with the new Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and the new B6.2 Front Wing on the 2wd.

Heading northeast into Wisconsin we stop in at New Richmond which is the home of The Toy Box RC track. JC driver Kyle Holmberg recently competed at their points race and took the win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class! Joining him on the podium were team mates Thor Ott (2nd) and Seth VanDalen (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep! All drivers ran Silver compound Ellipses on all four corners with F2 bodies.

Heading south we stop in at Alpha RC Raceway in Carbondale, IL.

JC driver Ryan Mcclain reports that he attended the 1st Round of their Carpet Series and placed 8th in the A Main for 4wd Buggy! He used Swaggers in the front and Pin Downs in the rear.

Heading further south into the “Show Me State” we check in with team driver Jeremy Mark. He was in Sullivan for a Childress RC monster truck racing event. He reported that he made the final round in 1 of 2 Retro class racing brackets and all 4 finals in the Sport Modified class! His Sudden Impact and Taurus trucks both made 3/4 final rounds as well winning 2 each! Both trucks ran Gold compound Renegades tires on Tribute Wheels, Silent Speed 17T motors, a Lowered Body Mount Kit, Slash 4×4 Short Shock Mount Standoffs and Rubber Bump Stops. The Sudden Impact truck also used a 2005 Ford F-250 body and the Taurus ran a 1988 Chevy Snoop Nose body.

Continuing south into Arkansas we stop in at Jonesboro which home to FORC RC. Team driver Drew Spurgeon recently did some club racing there and finished 5th in 2wd Buggy and 4th in 4wd Buggy! His AE rides were running fast on Gold compound Ellipses, white Mono wheels and F2 bodies.

Heading over to Murfreesboro, TN we stop in at Apex Raceway for some carpet off-road racing. Team driver Willie Scott reports that he ran in the 13.5 4wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes and finished 4th overall in 4wd and took the TQ and win in Truck! He used Swaggers in the front and Pin Downs in the rear on both vehicles.

Kicking it up to Kentucky we check in with Miss Bella who was in Hazard at Dixon’s RC Raceway for their latest round of their Cash Series.

She put in another solid performance capturing 3rd place in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes while running on Silver compound ReHab tires on her E buggy, Gold compound Ellipses and a Finnisher body on her Truggy and Dirt Tech inserts and Bullet wheels on both cars!

Heading to the “Hoosier” state we check in with team driver Chris Rothwell who was in Granger competing at RC Fun Park for their recent club race. He competed in both the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes and took the TQ and 2nd overall in in 4wd and 3rd place in the 2wd class! Both buggies used Mono rims and sanded down Silver compound front and rear Ellipses.

Staying in Indiana we now go to Indy RC Raceway & Hobbies in Indianapolis to check in with team driver Justin Green. He competed in the Stock 2wd Buggy class and took the TQ and 2nd place while running on Twins Pins, Swaggers, Mono wheels, a F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance rear wing and the new B6.2 Front Wing!

Now we head east to the “Buckeye” state to check in with team driver Paul Dietrich. He was in Wooster racing at D&J Raceway on their dirt oval track and took 3rd place in the Sprint class while competing on Green compound Sprinters glued to Mono wheels!

Next let’s get a race update from team driver Mark Unrath. He recently competed at Scale Speed in York, PA for their 1st Annual Christmas Classic, He raced in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes and finished 6th in 2wd and 2nd place in 4wd! He used Swaggers and Twin Pins tires mounted on Mono wheels.

Heading east into Connecticut we stop at Enfield which is home to RC Madness. JC driver John Cravotta raced there for the Winter Blast Carpet Off-Road Race and competed in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes. He finished 5th in 4wd and took the TQ and wire to wire win in the 2wd class! He used Swaggers in the front, Nessi tires in the rear and P2K bodies. Joining him on the podium was team mate Tom Bishop in 2nd!

Now let’s head down the coast into North Carolina to get some updates from the team who were in Lucama competing at Thunder Alley RC Speedway for Race #1 of the Super 7 Winter Series.

Starting with Josh Parrish he competed in 3 classes for the event: 17.5 2wd, 13.5 4wd and Mod 2wd Buggy. He was able to take the TQ and win in all 3 classes while using slicked out Silver compound Ellipses and Mono wheels!

Also racing at this event was team mate Dave McEwen. He also competed in 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes and would finish right behind Josh on the podium in 2nd for both! He also used the same winning tire and wheel combo too.

 

Finally, we stay in Florida to get an update from JConcepts driver Dustin Spallone. He competed in two days of racing at different locations starting at Southland Speedway in Delray Beach on Saturday. There he took the TQ and win in both the Sprint Car and Bomber classes! He used Green compound Ellipses for the main in the Sprint class and Subcultures in the same compound in the Bomber class all day. Then on Sunday he went to Coral Springs RC located Coral Springs to compete at the last round of the South Florida Off-Road Championship Series. He competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and doubled up in both classes for the win! He used Sprinters on both buggies and opted for the Green compound in 2wd and Blue compound in 4wd.
