Race Team Update – November 2020 Week #5

Even though many members of our race team celebrated Thanksgiving last week, that didn’t slow them down out on the track as they continued to gobble up on the competition which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!

Our first stop on this week’s report is in Columbus, GA which is home to “The Yard” indoor track at HobbyTown Columbus. They ran their Turkey Shootout race and let’s see how the team performed starting with JC driver Jason Westfall. He competed in three classes for this event and took the TQ and win in Mod Stadium Truck, another TQ and win in Mod 4wd Buggy and a solid 3rd place finish in Mod 2wd Buggy! All of his rides were running fast on Silver compound Ellipses along with F2 bodies on the buggies and a Finnisher body on his truck.

Joining him on the Mod 2wd Buggy podium in 1st place was team mate Chris VanRaemdonck! He said he used Aqua compound Ellipses and also took the TQ and win in the Short Course Truck class while running on the same tire selection!

Now let’s go to South Carolina to check in with team driver Cade Burnette. He was racing at S&B RC Speedway located in Piedmont for their Black Friday race event. He competed in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and qualified 2nd overall for both. In the nitro class he took 2nd overall competing in the 20 minute A-Main and in the electric class he took the win in the single 10 minute A-Main! For both vehicles he used Gold compound Ellipses.

Now let’s head back northwest into Tennessee to check in on team driver Miss Bella who recently competed at ROCCK Racing’s 2020 RC Toys for Tots Race in Knoxville. She reports that she competed in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class and finished 2nd overall while running on Green compound Reflex tires, Dirt Tech foams, Bullet wheels and a Finnisher body!

Also competing at this race was team mate Ryan Mcclain in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes. In both classes his runs would end early due to a breakage but he said he still had a great time and his truggy felt fast while running on Green compound Reflex tires and his buggy was good all weekend on Silver compound Ellipses!

Moving north into Indiana let’s stop in at Bill’s RC Raceway in Marion to check in with JC driver Adam Rayls. He was there competing in their 2nd Annual Gobbler Shootout and he took the TQ and win in both the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and Open Pro2 classes! His buggy used a P2 body, his SCT used a Hi-Flow shell and both vehicles used Silver compound Ellipse tires.

Heading further north into Michigan we get the following race report from JConcepts driver Chris Rothwell. Due to the current pandemic the RC Clubhouse in Warren had to cancel their annual Drumstick Race, but they were able to still hold a club race with nearly 70 entries.

Chris competed in that event in both the Mod and 40+ 2wd Buggy classes and finished 4th on the 40+ class and locked up 2nd place in the Mod class! Sanded down Silver compound Ellipses on all four corners were used for both cars.

Now let’s hop Lake Michigan and head east into Wisconsin. There we find team driver Ryan Derenne who was in New Franken competing at Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway for their Great Pie race. He competed in three classes and took home a pie in two of them! Much taster than trophies IMO!

  • 40+ Super Stock 2wd Buggy = 3rd overall while using Silver compound Ellipses, a P2 body, Aero wing package + won a pie
  • Mod Stadium Truck = 3rd overall while using Silver compound Ellipses, a Finnisher body + won a pie
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = 4th overall while using Silver compound Ellipses and a S2 body

Heading southwest let’s visit the “Sprint Car capital of the world” down in Knoxville, IA where B-Fast RC Raceway is located. JC driver Nate Sutherland competed in both the 360 Sprint and Street Stock classes and took the double W (say that 10 times real fast!) while running on our Silver compound Ellipses!

Next, let’s jump on I-80 and drive west into Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located at. This past weekend was Round 6 of their 2020 Carpet Off-Road Syndicate at the Plex series and race director, and team driver, Alex Sturgeon reports that he took the TQ and win in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class! He used a Finnisher body along with our popular carpet tires the Swaggers and Pin Downs.

Moving further south into Kansas let’s stop in at Topeka which is home to Ultraline Hobbies RC Raceway. There we find JC driver Riley Filbert who recently competed in Round 2 of their Super Cup Saturday Carpet Off-Road Winter Points Series.

He reports that he took 3rd place in the Mod 2wd Buggy class while using the following JConcepts gear!

  • Nessi tires
  • Swaggers tires
  • F2 body
  • Carpet | Astro High-Clearance rear wing
  • Fin Turnbuckle Kit

Moving even further south into Oklahoma City, OK we get an update from JConcepts driver Kevin Lenderman. He recently visited MOJO Hobby on Saturday and finished 2nd overall in the Midwest Modified class and took the W in the SC Modified class! Both cars used Green compound Dirt Webs up front and Ellipses in the rear.

Now let’s swing back to Arkansas and stop in at Jonesboro which is home to FORC Raceway. They recently ran their 3rd Annual Winter Kickoff Race which saw 110 entries which also included our drivers, Braxten and Gerad Culley. Starting with Braxten he took the TQ and win in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and also finished 1st in Mod 2wd Buggy class! His wheeler was running on Silver compound Ellipses all the way around and his 2wd ride also used that on the rear with the Silver compound Dirt Webs up front.

His father Gerad also made the podium twice for this event by finishing in 3rd in both the 17.5 2wd Buggy and 1/10 4wd Stadium Truck classes! He ran Silver compound Ellipses and a F2 body on his 2wd and Silver compound Ellipses and a Finnisher body on his mini truggy.

Now let’s shoot down to Garland, TX to visit Indy RC World. JC driver Noel Cerda was at this track on Friday and picked up the win in the 10.5 Sprint class while running on Green compound Ellipses in the rear and Dirt Webs up front! All tires were mounted to 9 Shot wheels.

Finally, let’s fly out west to Beaumont, CA which is where Thunder Alley RC Raceway is located. At their recent event team driver John Caudillo competed in the Open 1/8 E Buggy class and took the TQ and win! He was running up front on our Bullet wheels, Green compound Reflex tires, a F2I wing and Illuzion 1/8 Wheel Nuts.
