In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Texas team driver, Gary Guffey Jr.!
1. How did you get started in RC? Was it racing right away, or did you bash vehicles before you found out about the RC race scene?
My dad has always raced and I would always go with him. Then I was finally was old enough to start racing too and that’s how it all started.
2. What is your favorite class to race in today and why?
The most fun I have had was when I was racing was in nitro truggy. They are so fun to drive especially on a big track and you can drive them as hard as you want and they only get faster.
3. Dirt Oval has really grown in popularity over the past few years. In your opinion what is the main cause of this increase of left turn drivers?
I think it’s because how realistic they are to the actual big car version and it is very reasonable to get a RTR car together and go compete for beginners.
4. Name one JConcepts product that you feel is overlooked by many but you find it very useful. It could be a tool, tread pattern, wing, etc.
I like all the black anodized upgrade parts they sell, but I’m gonna have to say the Ellipse tire because they work on literally everything from 1/8 to 1/10 and they are amazing
5. Besides RC cars, what other hobbies are you into?
I do anything and everything outdoors: fishing, racing Go Karts, racing full size cars, fixing old stuff up and much more.
