Race Team Update – April 2021 Week #4

With Spring in the air many outdoor tracks are starting to hold racing events once again, and the JConcepts race team is already ahead of the curve as they claimed numerous victories this past week. See where we continued our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report in Omaha, NE which is home to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex). Over the weekend they hosted the ProTek Spring Off-Road Championships which saw 186 entries competing in 10 different classes. We had numerous drivers in attendance so let’s get an update from the team starting with JConcepts driver Alex Vanderbeek.

He competed in the Mod 2wd class and would take the TQ and win by winning both A1 and A2! His winning car used Gold compound Dirt Webs up front and Gold compound Ellipses in the rear. Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was teammate Drew Rubenking!

Alex also competed in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and would double down with another TQ and win! On his winning wheeler he used Gold compound Ellipses on all four corners and joining him on the podium in 3rd place was teammate Chad Due!

JConcepts driver Bradley Peterson reports that he finished 6th overall in 17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy and 9th place in 13.5 4wd Buggy! He reported that used a variety of JConcepts products:

  • Gold compound Dirt Webs
  • Gold compound Ellipses
  • Mono wheels
  • P2 body
  • F2 body
  • Aero wing package

JConcepts driver Nate Sutherland was also at this event and competed in three different classes. Nate was running fast and took the TQ and win in two of the three!

  • TQ and 1st in 17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy = Gold compound Dirt Webs fronts, Ellipses in the rear
  • TQ and 1st in 13.5 4wd Buggy = Gold compound Ellipses both front and rear
  • 5th in Mod 4wd Buggy = Gold compound Ellipses both front and rear

JConcepts driver Mack Vanderbeek competed in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class and would also snag another TQ and win for the team! He also used Gold compound Dirt Webs up front and Gold compound Ellipses in the rear. Joining him on the podium in 3rd place was teammate Kyle Gannon!

JConcepts driver and Plex race director Alex Sturgeon reported that his son Emerson competed in the Mini Truggy class and would come home with the win after the long 8 minute A Main! His winning trug used Gold compound Ellipse tires on all four corners.

JC driver Joe Zaier Jr. reported that he also competed in the Mini Truggy class and would finish in 5th place! He also took home some hardware for a lower main in 17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy and his son Joe Zaier III took home 9th overall in the PlexSpec class! All three cars ran on Silver compound Ellipse tires.

Team driver Will Brinton reported that he finished 5th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 10th in Mod 4wd Buggy! He used Ellipses and Dirt Webs on both vehicles in the Gold compound along with F2 lightweight bodies and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.

Moving south into Kansas we get our next update from team driver Ken Peterson. He recently went to Wichita to compete in the season opener at Emery Park RC. He competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished 2nd overall while running on Green compound Komos tires!

Now we shift our attention down to Tulsa, OK where Shifty’s RC Raceway is located. Our driver Tim Davis recently competed in their recent point series and took 2nd place while running on Silver compound Ellipses sanded down to slicks!

Now heading over to Missouri, we check out the racing action at the opening round of the Slideways Summer Series at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs. Team driver Travis Slover reported he took 2nd overall in the SC Mod class and 8th overall in Street Stock! In the Street Stock class, he used the 1978 Chevy Camaro Street Stock Body, 9 Shot wheels and both cars used a variety of JC treads like Green compound Sprinters and Silver and Gold compound Ellipses.

Also competing at this event was teammate Joe Duffy in the Open Sprint class. He qualified 2nd overall and went on to take the A Main win! For the race he started with Green compound Sprinters then switched over to Gold compound Ellipse tires.

Heading east we stop in at Terre Haute, IN where VCRC Raceway is located. Team driver Tyler Jones reported that he attended their season opener and took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! He used Blue compound Blockers and a S15 body in his victory.

Continuing east we next stop in at TR Speedway in Trafford, PA. Team driver recently Matt Stoltz competed there and took the win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! His winning ride was decked out in a ton of JC goodness:

  • Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing
  • B6.1 Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set

Now let’s head south into South Carolina to get this update from team driver David Olsen. He recently visited Xtreme RC Raceway in Ladson for some club racing and reported that he took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class! His winning e buggy used Green compound Reflex tires topped off with a S15 body.

Moving over to Alabama we get our next report courtesy of JConcepts driver Randy Enger. He recently competed at Warehouse Hobby Raceway in Helena and doubled up with wins in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! His 2wd car used Green compound Sprinters in both the front and rear while his wheeler used Ellipses all the way around in the same compound.

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Brad Collins. He recently competed at Hobbytown USA Raceway in Johnson City, TN for their season opener and TQed and won in both the 1/8 Pro Nitro and Electric Buggy classes! His winning vehicles both used Detox tires in A3 and Blue compound along with Green compound Stalkers earlies that day.
