Friday5 With Team Driver Brian Henn

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Texas team driver, Brian Henn!

1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?

I got started racing RC when I was around 12 or so. We had a local track in Houston, TX called Performance Raceway that was only about 15 minutes from me. So after school my dad, brother and I would go there and run a few days a week.

2. In your opinion, what needs to be done to increase participation in RC racing, or RC in general?

In my opinion, I think we need more exposure. RC just doesn’t get the exposure that other forms of racing have.

3. If you have been racing for a while now you have probably glued up 100s of tires. So what gluing tips do you have for beginning racers?

As far as it goes for gluing I keep it very simple. Get a can of brake cleaner, a clean microfiber towel and always a fresh bottle of glue. I clean both the bead of the tire and wheel with brake cleaner. Go around the bead of the tire multiple times until no more mold release comes off.

4. When it comes to new products released from JConcepts, what are you most excited to see and why? Is it a new body, new tire, new accessory, etc.?

I love seeing JConcepts releasing new products, especially bodies and tires. My favorite would probably have to be the S15 line of bodies currently.

5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about you?

Hmm, a hidden talent, tough one haha. Well, in the last year or so, I’ve gotten into being a full time RC painter. Between painting, doing kit builds/rebuilds for other racers and racing, I’m always busy!
