Friday5 With Team Driver Alex Bernadzik

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Australia team driver, Alex Bernadzik!

1. When you first got into RC racing, what pro driver did you look up to and why? Or maybe there was a local/regional driver that you followed?

When I first started racing I really admired the fast guys at my local indoor off-road track. After a little while I think Ryan Cavalieri stood out for his race ethic and professionalism. It was also great to race against him in 2017 at a couple of local events here in Australia.

2. In your opinion, what needs to be done to increase participation in RC racing, or RC in general?

I really believe the biggest factor in increased participation in RC lies at the club level. Making new people or spectators feel welcome at the track and do our best to encourage anyone to give our awesome sport a go. It’s also vital that new people understand we all started somewhere and you don’t have to lapping with the fast guys straight away. The encouragement and advice I received at our local track when I first started certainly gave me the confidence to stick with RC racing!

3. What is your biggest win to date and why?

Tough question as any race victory at state or National level always feels special, but I’d have to say my most satisfying achievement so far would have to be taking out the overall 1/8th nitro buggy and truggy National series title in 2019. Our National series is run over three rounds in different states so consistency was really important. Have to say making Quarter finals at my first 1/8th IFMAR worlds felt pretty good!

4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?

There are so many cool products that I love but the one that probably stands out that little bit from the bunch would have to be the Titanium Fin turnbuckles. They just look next level and trim a load of weight as well!

5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about?

Before I discovered RC Racing I loved to play tennis. During the week I would head to the local club for lessons or practice and come the weekend it would be time for competition. I guess that routine isn’t too different from what I do with RC racing today!
