Two weekends are in the books for the JConcepts race team and they continue to rack up wins out on the race track! Read about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s update north of the border at Bego Racing RC Raceway in Napierville, Quebec, Canada. This weekend they hosted a double header for the Quebec RC Series. Saturday was Round 4 of this series with the 5th and final round on Sunday. The team showed up strong for both days so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver Daemon Holon .
After competing on both days the final points for the series were added up and he would finish 5th overall in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 4th place in 1/8 Nitro Truggy! On Saturday his truggy used Ellipse tires in the Aqua compound and his buggy used Detox tires in the same compound. On Sunday for the finals he used the same Ellipse tire setup for both vehicles. He also ran a S15 body on his buggy.
Teammate David L’Ecuyer also competed on both days and when the series was completed he would finish 4th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 2nd in 1/8 Electric Buggy! His buggies were running fast all weekend on Blue and Aqua compound Detox tires plus S15 bodies.
JC driver Jordan Miles also put in some work this weekend competing at this series. When the points were calculated on Sunday he would end up 3rd in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 1st overall in Mod 4wd Buggy! For the final two rounds he used Blue compound Detox tires on his e buggy and his wheeler used Blue compound Sprinters and a S2 shell.
JConcepts driver Kevin Lachapelle reported that when the series had completed he would capture the final spot on the podium in the Mod 4wd Buggy class! His wheeler used the following JC items:
- F2 body
- Blue compound Sprinters
- Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing
- B74.1 Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
Team driver Olivier Raposo raced both days to complete the series. When the dust had settled he finished 2nd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy for the series and 1st overall in 1/8 Nitro Truggy! For the final rounds his buggy utilized Aqua compound Detox and Silver compound Ellipse tires while his truggy used Blue and Aqua compound Ellipses.
Teammate Eric Deschenes also threw laps down all weekend long at the finals. When the points were tallied up for the entire series he would finish 3rd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 2nd place in 1/8 Nitro Truggy! He used Aqua compound Detox tires and Silver compound Ellipses along with a S15 body in buggy, and a Finnisher body and Aqua compound Ellipses in truggy. For the finals on Sunday it was a JConcepts sweep in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class too!

Team driver Steve Seguin reported that after the series was completed he finished 6th overall in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 1st in 1/8 Electric Truggy! For the final two rounds he used Green compound Ellipses on the Truggy and opted for the Aqua compound in Buggy.
Overall it was an excellent job for the entire JConcepts race team competing hard in this exciting series!
Now we head south to Loganville, GA where the Loganville RC Complex is located. This past weekend was Round 1 of GORCS (Georgia Off-Road Championship Series) which saw over 130 entries.
Representing JConcepts at this event was team driver Shay Brand. He would set the TQ and take the win in both the 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes! Both vehicles ran on Green and Blue compound Reflex tires along wit the new F2 body on his truggy.
Also repping JC at this event was team driver Jason Westfall. He would finish 3rd overall in Mod 2wd Buggy while running Green compound Sprinters in the rear, Rips up front and a F2 body! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was teammate Chris VanRaemdonck!
Speaking of Chris he competed in three other classes too that weekend:
- 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy = 3rd place while running on Green compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels, S15 body and F2I wing
- 1/8 Expert Nitro Truggy = DNF while running on Green compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels, Finnisher body and F2I wing
- 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy = TQ and 5th while running on Green compound Reflex tires
He was also part of a JConcepts podium sweep in the 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy class too led by Shay Brand (TQ & 1st) and also Coty Ingram (2nd)! He also earns our coveted “ironman” award this week as well by competing in four classes!
Also putting down laps at the first round of this series was JC driver Chris Rakus. He competed in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy class and would just miss out on the final podium spot when his battery dumped on him in the main! He was running fast up to that point on Aqua compound Reflex tires.
Crossing the stateline into Alabama we stop in at the city of Tuscumbia where Steve Raddatz Memorial Raceway is located. Team driver Willie Scott recently competed there at the 12th Annual Steve Raddatz Memorial Race and made the A Main in 1/8 Electric Truggy before he suffered a DNF due to an electronics issue.
He had better luck in the Stadium Truck class as he got out to a big lead on the competition before he suffered another electronics issue. Fortunately for him his lead was big enough that he only dropped back to 2nd for the day! His truggy used Reflex tires along with a Finnisher body while his stadium truck used Carvers in the front and Double Dees V1 in the back for qualifying before opting for Sprinters in the rear for the main.
Also competing at this race was teammate Randy Enger. He competed in the 1/8 Electric and Mod 4wd Buggy classes and set the TQ in both! After the mains were run he would finish 2nd in e buggy and took the win in wheeler! His buggies utilized our S2 and S15 bodies, plus Green compound Double Dees V2 and Reflex tires.
Now we bounce up to Laotto, IN where Victory RC is located. They just held their 2nd annual Victory RC Champs event and team driver Tyler Jones competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class.
He would bump up into the A Main and then went on to take the win while running fast on A2 compound Reflex tires and a S15 body!
Crossing over into the “Land of Lincoln” we now get a few updates from the team competing at the Horizon Hobby RC Fest at Eli Field in Monticello.
Starting with team driver Josh Rhodes he let us know that he put in a weekend sweep in the Retro class with his JConcepts Regulator chassis monster trucks! His Grave Digger II won on Friday and Bigfoot IV took home the win on Saturday! Both vehicles used the following gear:
- Bigfoot IV: Regulator chassis conversion kit, Tribute wheels, Gold compound Golden Year tires, 1989 Ford F-250 Monster Truck Body
- Grave Digger II: Regulator chassis conversion kit, Tribute wheels, Gold compound Golden Year tires
Also competing on the off-road track was JC driver Brayden Billington. He set the TQ in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes and also finished 3rd in truggy and 1st in e buggy! Both cars ran on Blue compound Reflex tires.
Continuing west we now head to Fort Dodge, IA for an update from team driver Brandon Kearney. This past weekend he competed at Round 4 of the IORC Summer Series and set the TQ in Expert 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy, plus Mod 4wd Buggy! He would go on to finish 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and took the W’s in both Expert 17.5 2wd and Mod 4wd Buggy! His winning cars used the following JC swag:
- Fuzz Bite LP front and rear tires
- Lightweight F2 body
- Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing
- Mono wheels
Our next stop is in Blue Springs, MO where Fastlane Raceway is located. Over the weekend they held their 2021 Off-Road Riot event and let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Will Brinton.
He competed in the 1/10 Gas Truck class and would take the TQ and win! He used a modified F2 body along with Aqua compound Ellipses and Dirt Tech foam.
Also competing there was JC mate Chad Parks. He would finish 2nd on the podium in the 1/10 Gas Truck class while using the same tire package as Will! He would also take the win in the 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy class while running on Blue compound Stalkers!
Moving west into Kansas we stop in at Checkered Flag R/C Raceway in the town of Bonner Springs. Young JC driver Shane Alberico recently competed at their 2021 Racing for Hero’s Benefit Race and would finish 2nd overall in the Sprint class while running on Sprinter and Ellipse tires!
Next, we shoot down to Mike’s Hobby Shop in Porter, TX for this next update from JConcepts driver Brian Germany. They recently hosted Round 10 of the HARC (Houston Area RC) series and he finished 5th overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Robbie Darby!
Heading northwest we stop in at Cabinet Mountain RC Raceway in Libby, MT.
Our driver Angus Matheson recently competed there and took 2nd overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while running on Green compound Reflex tires!
Finally, we head out even further west to Chico, CA where Silver Dollar R/C Raceway is located. They hosted the Nor Cal RC Monster Trucks North vs. South Showdown this past Saturday and our driver Jeremy Bunting reported that he took the Freestyle win with his “Sinistar” monster truck!
His winning rig used Blue compound Renegade tire, Tribute wheels, Tribute Wheel Mock Beadlock Rings and a 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty Monster Truck body.
