JConcepts Guide to Dirt Oval Pt.1: Tires & Wheels

Written by: Tyler Hooks

Welcome to the JConcepts Guide to Dirt Oval! This is a two-part series with Part one discussing Tires & Wheels and Part 2 going over bodies & accessories. With the recent resurgence of Dirt Oval racing across the country, JConcepts has stepped up to the plate and provided racers with a full line of products to get the most out of their Sprint Cars, Late Models, Midwest Modifieds, and everything in between.

Tires:

The large majority of rubber tire Dirt Oval racing is loosely based on 2wd buggy specifications. Meaning, for most classes standard 2wd front and rear tires are used. JConcepts has you covered on a variety of different surfaces.

Loose Dirt:

Sprinters: One of the newest tires in the JConcepts line-up, The Sprinter, allows for solid grip and support in the loosest of conditions without folding or becoming unstable as the track reaches an “in-between” stage. JConcepts goes a step further offering the tire in the following compounds to suit varying conditions.

Sprinter Front: #3134

Sprinter Rear: 3133

Tightly Packed Topsoil or Low Bite Indoor Surfaces:

JConcepts has multiple options for bar tires. We have tires for use in low to medium bite conditions, the most popular being a mix of Dirt Webs in the front and Ellipse in the rear. The Dirt Webs are our conventional front tire carcass design and width allowing for ample steering. When combined with the outstanding forward and side bite of the Ellipse it is a hard-to-beat combo.

Dirt Web Front: 3077

(Green, Blue, Silver Gold, A2, R2)

Ellipse Rear: 3196

(Black, Green, Blue, Silver Gold, A2, R2)

High Grip Play or Polished Surfaces:

For those situations where you need clay tires or even slicks, we recommend running Ellipse front and rear tires. The Ellipse front offers a wider profile than the Dirt Web adding stability and consistency. It also makes for a great slick once sanded down. For those that would like to run slicks straight from the package, Octagons are ready to rip from the start.

Ellipse Front: 3197

(Green, Blue, Silver, Gold, A2)

Ellipse Rear: 3196

(Black, Green, Blue, Silver Gold, A2, R2)

Octagon Front: 3143 (Black, Green, Silver, Gold, A2)

Octagon Rear: 3142 (Black, Green, Silver, Gold, A2)
