Race Team Update – October 2021 Week #4

With Halloween on the horizon, the JConcepts race team continues to scare away the competition which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out in Felton, DE where WNRC Speedway is located. Team driver Tim Rothenberger recently visited this track to compete in their King of Sling event and finished 2nd overall in the Mod Sprint class and took the TQ and win in the Mod Late Model class! Both cars were turning left fast on Green compound Sprinter tires.

Out next stop is at Grand River RC in Grandville, MI.

JConcepts driver Chris Rothwell reported that he raced there last Friday night and finished 3rd overall in the 13.5 wheeler class while running sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires on all four corners, plus Mono wheels and a S2 body! He also competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and placed 2nd for the night while running the same tire and wheel combination plus a P2 shell!

Staying in the state our next report comes to us via team driver Russ Bryant. He recently competed at Round 1 of the Michigan Monsters RC Winter Series and finished 1st for the day in Sport Mod class with his “Ruckus” ride! He used Gold compound Renegades, Tribute wheels and a 2005 Chevy 1500 MT Samson Body.

Jumping over Lake Michigan we splash down in the city of New Franken, WI where Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway is located. Team driver Richie Peters recently put the smackdown on the competition with a double TQ and win in 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy! This was the first night where drivers competing in the Mod 2wd Buggy class tried to win so they could earn the right to claim the traveling trophy WWE belt that will be passed around and signed by each weekly winner in this class. So he is off to a great start, and speaking of great the JConcepts tag team of Silver compound Ellipses and Dirt Webs were also working great on his buggies along with Mono wheels and Finnisher bodies!

Now, let’s rock out of Michigan and head down to Knoxville, TN for a ‘nightmare’ report from team driver Jonah Wilson. We don’t find ourselves on Elm Street, but instead the ROCCK Racing facility for their 2021 Nitro Nightmare race. Jonah competed in three classes at this race and took the W in all of them! He said the new Silver compound ReHabs were causing bad dreams for the competition in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, while in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class Gold compound Ellipses struck fear in the competition.

Next, let’s make the walk over to GS Hobby in Barling, AR for the next team report. This past week GS held their 3rd Annual Walking Dead Race and we had numerous drivers in attendance so let’s see how the team performed stating with Matthew Pyle.

He competed in both the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes and after starting 2nd in both for the AAA Mains he would finish in 2nd in 13.5 4wd and took the overall win in the 17.5 class! He used our Swaggers and Fuzz Bite tires on the astro turf track surface all weekend long.

Also competing at this race was teammate J.R. Mitch in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He would finish in 2nd place in Mod 2wd and took the W in the Mod 4wd class! His winning wheeler used Swagger tires in the front, Nessi tires in the rear, a S2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing. Joining J.R. on the Mod 4wd Buggy podium was teammate Braxten Culley in 2nd place!

Braxten also snagged the TQ in Mod 4wd and took the TQ and win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class as well! His wheeler was running scary fast on Swagger tires in the front and Fuzz Bite tires in the rear, while his 2wd used Fuzz Bites tires in the front, Nessi tires in the rear, plus a F2 shell.

Heading west we roll into Battleground RC Speedway in Muskogee, OK. This past weekend they held their inaugural Halloween Classic race and let’s check in with the team to see how they finished up starting with JC driver Brian Stanton.

He competed in both the 10.5 Sprint and Midwest Mod classes and would finish 2nd in 10.5 Sprint and took the TQ and win in Midwest Mod! Both vehicles were running on Green compound Ellipses mounted to Mono wheels.

His teammate Randy Lathrop was also turning laps at this race and he finished right behind Brian on the Midwest podium, but finished 1st in the 10.5 Sprint class! His oval rides used Green compound Dirt Webs in the front, Ellipses in the rear and all mounted to 9 Shot rims.

Turning north we now move up to Hutchinson, KS where HI Performance Hobbies is located. This past weekend they held their 37th Annual Fall Classic which featured 150 entries. Our driver Ken Peterson was in attendance and he reported that he finished 4th in Mod 2wd Buggy, 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy and 2nd in 17.5 Expert Stock 2wd Buggy! He said slicked out Silver compound Ellipses were the hot ticket for all of his cars.

Heading out west we check in with team driver Brian Phillips. He recently competed at Munday RC Raceway in Post Falls, ID for their Fall Brawl event in the Mod 4wd Buggy and Mini Truggy classes. He would take the win in both while rolling on Green compound Double Dees V2 and Sprinter tires!

Turning south we head down to Whip It RC Raceway and Hobbies in Reno, NV. This past weekend they held their Stateline Nationals trophy race which was a battle between California and Nevada drivers. Team driver Lucas Wedsted went to this race and reported that he finished 2nd on the podium in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He used Silver compound Ellispes sanded down to slicks along with Dirt-Tech foams, a F2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.

Also racing at this event was JC driver Derek Stephansen in three different classes. He would finish 3rd in Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy and doubled up in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes with two TQs and wins! He also used sanded down Silver compound Ellipses, along with F2 shells and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.
