In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Indiana team driver, Brad Taylor!
1. When you first got into RC racing, what pro driver did you look up to and why? Or maybe there was a local/regional driver that you followed?
When I first got into RC racing there were actually two people I really looked up to. I raced 4×4 short course truck at the time, and the two guys I really studied and tried to emulate were Randy Cathcart ( a local fast guy ) and Dakotah Phend.
2. In your opinion, what needs to be done to make RC more “mainstream” and get more people involved?
I truly believe we need more YouTube content creators for the hobby. People like Ryan Stiles Harris or Mark Santa Maria really help get the hobby in front of those who aren’t very familiar with the RC racing world, but do have an interest in RC in general.
3. When life interferes and you can’t wheel your RC car, how do you quench your thirst for RC? Do you work on your car, listen to a RC podcast, watch some racing videos, read RC magazines or books, etc?
I really enjoy just wrenching on my cars to get them ready for the next race day while watching either Supercross, Motocross or RC racing.
4. Name one JConcepts product that you feel is overlooked by many but you find it very useful. It could be a tool, tread pattern, wing, etc.
The one thing I think is overlooked, but is very necessary, are a good set of ride height and camber gauges. I really like the JConcepts gauges because I know the measurement will be accurate every time.
5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about you?
I’m a pretty good arm wrestler LOL! It’s one of the other sports I’m really into besides dirt bike and RC racing.
