Race Team Update – January 2022 Week #1

As the temperatures drop the JConcepts race team continues to rise up and bring the heat to the track which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down in Florida as the team was competing at several different events throughout the state. Starting at Newred Hobbies in Ocala, they were host Round 1 of the SNAP HARD Racing League’s ‘Beast of the Southeast Series’ this past weekend. Team driver Zach Griggs competed at this event and reported that he finished 2nd in the B Main for 17.5 2wd Buggy, and finished 6th overall in the A Main in Mod 4wd Buggy! His bugs were running smooth all weekend on Smoothies 2 tires plus a P2 body on his 2wd and a F2 body on his wheeler.

Also competing at this race was teammate Justin Sherman. He said he finished 7th in 17.5 2wd Buggy while using Silver compound Ellipses mounted to Mono wheels! He also finished 2nd overall in the Mod SCT class while using the same tire setup along with Hazard wheels! Joining him on the podium in 1st place was teammate Tom Sherman!

Fellow JC driver Vince McMahon also competed in the 17.5 2wd and Mod 4wd Buggy classes. In Mod wheeler he would finish 8th for the day and in 17.5 2wd classhe would capture 2nd place! Both vehicles used Gold compound Octagon tires plus Mono wheels and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.

Booking it over to Brooksville we get our next update from team driver Erik Everett. This past weekend he visited Ron Jon Raceway to compete at Round 1 of their Winter Points Series and took the W in the Mod Sprint class!

Our next stop in Florida is in Bartow where Triple Nickle Raceway is located. Team driver Brian Miller competed there last weekend for Round 1 of the Emerge 2022 Race Series. He competed in Mod 2wd Buggy for the first time and finish a strong 3rd place overall! He used Sprinters in both the front and rear, a S2 body, and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing. Joining him on the podium to complete the JC sweep were teammates Paul Wynn in 2nd and Julien Oliveras in 1st!

Now we head up the coastline to Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they were host to Beast of the East Triple Crown which saw 256 entries! We had tons of JC drivers throwing down laps so let’s see how the team finished starting with team driver Josh Parrish. He reports that he competed in three different classes and brought home hardware in all of them!

  • 17.5 2wd Buggy = TQ & 2nd while running on Silver compound Ellipse slicks, a P2 body and Mono wheels
  • 13.5 4wd Buggy = TQ & 1st while running on Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires, a F2 body and Mono wheels
  • Pro eBuggy = 3rd place while running on ghosted Silver compound Ellipse tires, a S15 body, F2I wing and Bullet wheels

JC driver Jake Stikeleather also competed in three different classes and made the podium in all of them, plus he won the Pro Class Champion title for this event too!

  • Mod 2wd Buggy= TQ and 2nd place while using Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires and Mono wheels
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = 2nd place while using Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires, Mono wheels and a F2 body
  • Pro Nitro Buggy = TQ and 1st place while using slicked out Green compound Dirt Webs, 1/8th Buggy Tire Inner Sidewall Support Adaptors, a F2I wing, Bullet wheels and a S15 body

Also competing at this event was JC mate Ken Rand Jr. in the Pro eBuggy and Nitro Buggy classes plus Mod 4wd Buggy. In e buggy he would finish 4th for the event while running on Silver compound Ellipses in A1, Green compound Ellipses in A2, and all mounted to Bullet wheels! In the nitro buggy class he would finish in 2nd while using a S15 shell, Bullet wheels and Silver compound Ellipse tires! In the Mod wheeler class he finished 7th for the day after both mains were ran while using Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires!

Team driver Logan Cowick competed in both the Pro eBuggy and Nitro Buggy classes too this past weekend. He would finish 4th in nitro buggy, 2nd in e buggy and both cars used Silver compound Ellipse tires, Bullet wheels and S15 lids! Joining him on the e buggy podium was teammate Josh Parrish in 3rd place!

JConcepts pilot Luis Diego also competed in three different classes at this event. He would take the win in the Mini Truggy class while running fast on Gold compound Octagon tires! He finished 2nd in the Pro4 SCT class on the same tires setup. And in the Pro eBuggy class he finished a solid 6th overall while using our Green compound Ellipse tires! Joining him on the Mini Truggy podium in 3rd place was fellow JC driver Marlowe Bright!

Heading up the coast even further we stop at The Track in Gaithersburg, MD for this next report from team driver Javon Mallory. He attended their recent New Year’s Shootout event and finished 2nd in 13.5 4wd Buggy while running on sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires, a S2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing! He also raced in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and would take the win while running the same tire combo plus a P2K shell and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing!

Trudging further north we get our next update from JConcepts driver Matt Adams. He reports that he attended the recent Winter Slam race at Jerry’s RC Raceway in Ithaca, NY and competed in both the Stadium Truck and SCT classes. He would finish 6th for the day in SCT and locked up the final podium spot in the Stadium Truck class! He used Black compound Ellipse tires, Mono wheels and a Finnisher body on the stadium truck while his SCT used Green compound Ellipse tires, Hazard wheels and a Hi-Flow SCT body.

Heading back to the Midwest we set down in Foley, MN where 510 Raceway is located. This past weekend they held their Sub Zero Challenge and team driver Joe Zaier Jr. reports that he finished 3rd in Mini Truggy and 2nd place in Mod Stadium Truck! Both trucks were running fast on Gold compound Ellipse tires.

Also racing at this event was teammate Kyle Holmberg in three different buggy classes. He would set the TQ in he 17.5 2wd and Mod 4wd Buggy classes and would go on to take wins in both along with the title in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class! His 2wd car used ghosted Silver compound Ellipse tires while his wheelers ran on Silver compound Smoothies with the RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd | 4wd Front Inserts.

Our next stop is at Bad Fast Hobbies in Sioux City, IA where team driver Mike Sanders files the following report. He recently traveled there to compete in Round 8 of their 7-ELEVEN Series and would finish 2nd overall in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win in the 40+ 2wd Buggy class! His vehicles were equipped with Fuzz Bite LP tires, Mono wheels and S2 bodies.

Now we head over to Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend was Round 3 of their 1/8 Winter Series which saw 221 entries! Despite the cold temperatures outside the JConcepts team was on fire on the indoor track so let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Mason Fuller. Mason competed in both the Expert eBuggy and Nitro Buggy classes and would just miss out on the podium in eBuggy and take the TQ and win in nitro buggy! Both bugs were running fast on Gold compound Ellipse tires, and joining him on the nitro buggy podium was teammate Seth VanDalen in 2nd place!

Teammate Brandon Kearney was also competing in the Expert eBuggy class and would finish a solid 12th overall while using a S15 body, Gold compound Ellipses and a F2I wing!

JConcepts driver Bradley Peterson reported that he just missed out making the podium in the Expert Nitro Buggy class while running Gold compound Ellipse tires and a S15 body!

Team driver Drew Rubenking competed in the Expert eBuggy class too and would lock up the final podium spot! He also took the TQ and win in the Mini Truggy class! Joining him on the podium in the truggy class was teammate Emerson Sturgeon who was running on Gold compound Ellipses and a Finnisher body!

Moving south to somewhere much, much warmer we stop in at Indy RC World in Garland, TX for this update from team driver Kevin Mcnatt. He recently competed there for Round 2 of their Winter series and he would finish 2nd for the day in the SC Mod class while competing with Gold compound Dirt Webs!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Spanish team driver Alberto Garcia. He raced at the recent Navirral Race in Spain and would set the TQ and finish 2nd at this event while using a variety of JC rubber like Triple Dees and Blockers in both the Green and Blue compounds along with a F2I wing and S15 shell!
