This past weekend the Winter Rage event was held at the Walla Walla Country Fairgrounds in Walla Walla, WA. This event was packed with competition as 329 entries were spread out in 16 different classes to compete in!
JConcepts driver Adam Drake made the trip to Washington to compete in this event in three different classes. The race was slated to be a three day event, but for Adam it started a day earlier. On Thursday night he hosted a driver clinic with 24 drivers. Adam talked about how he successfully runs his nitro program and went over how to put down the fastest lines on the race track.
On Friday the real fun began as drivers packed the pits and got ready to hit the track. Open practice was held that day and after that had completed later that night a seeding round was held. Drivers would run their vehicles for three minutes each. A driver’s best three consecutive laps were used to determine their starting spot for two rounds of qualifying the next day. By doing this the hope was that when qualifying began they would be racing with someone already on the same pace as them so everyone could get in a cleaner run.
Saturday morning drivers made their way back to the track and the first heat of qualifier 1 was underway shortly before 9am. Each qualifier ran for 10 minutes each and a driver’s best run would be used to see if they made their way directly into the A Main.
By Saturday night Adam would lock up the top qualifier position in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy, 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes!
Sunday was all mains day and the first lower main began shortly after 8am. Each of the nitro mains ran for 30 minutes while the electric mains were each 10 minutes long. Some of the electric classes ran two mains to determine the overall winner while the other classes ran three mains.
The first main for Adam that day was A1 of 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy. Starting on the pole he never looked back as he went on to take A1 and put a victory lap on the entire field! In A2 he would lead from start to finish once again and would capture his first class win of the race!

The next main for Adam was the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class. Once the race began he would get off to a great start and never relinquish the lead even when stopping in for fuel. By the time the race had finished he would put the entire field two laps down to claim his second win of the weekend! Joining him on the podium were JConcepts teammates Brenden Bartlett (3rd) and MCcoy Starkey (5th)!

His final A Main event was in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class which was also the final race of the weekend. Once again he got off to a great start and never gave up the lead for his third TQ and win of the event!
