In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Georgia team driver, Justin Sherman!

1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?

I got started with RC about 6 years ago. My dad used to race in the late 80’s to early 90’s so I was around it for a little while. The classes I compete in are 17.5 2wd Buggy, 13.5 4wd Buggy, Short Course Mod and Stock, and Stadium Truck Mod and Stock.

2. What is your biggest win to date and why?

My biggest win would have to be winning the 2021 ROAR Electric Off-Road Nationals for the 17.5 SCT class. I went to this race prepared and with the goal of winning this class. I know it’s not the most prestigious class but I enjoy running the truck.

3. From your experience what is the easiest AND hardest maintenance task on your RC cars?

The easiest I would have to say is rebuilding shocks. Hardest would be rebuilding gear diffs, mainly due to getting the old oil out.

4. Name one JConcepts product that you feel is overlooked by many but you find it very useful. It could be a tool, tread pattern, wing, etc.

The one JConcepts product I couldn’t do without is my Combo Thumb Wrench for shock nuts. Works best for the front shocks.

5. Besides RC cars, what other hobbies are you into?

As far as other hobbies go it would have to be working on real cars with my friends, from maintenance to adding aftermarket parts.
