Race Team Update – February 2022 Week #2

The JConcepts race team shows no love to the competition as they continue to dominate them out on the track. Read more about our winning ways in this edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s race report in St. Charles, MO where SmacTrac is located. Over the weekend they held their Winter Indoor Championship which saw nearly 170 entries competing in eight different classes. So let’s see how the team performed starting with JC driver Brad Dean. He reported that he competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and set the TQ in both! After the mains were run he would finish in 2nd in Mod 4wd and take home 1st place in Mod 2wd! Both cars used Gold compound Ellipse tires along with Mono wheels and F2 bodies.

His teammate Wesley Gifford also competed at this event in the same two classes. He would finish 3rd in Mod 2wd and take the W in Mod wheeler! He also used Gold compound Ellipses along with Mono wheels, and F2 and P2 shells.

JConcepts driver Connor Light also raced in these two competitive classes and he would finish 7th in Mod 2wd and just miss out on the podium in Mod 4wd! Both of his cars were running fast on Gold compound Ellipses glued to Mono wheels along with F2 and P2 bodies.

Now we head to the ‘Land of Lincoln’ for our next report from team driver Brayden Billington. He recently went to RJD Hobbies in the city of Lincoln to compete at Round 2 of their Winter Series in three classes. He would end up TQ and winning in all of them while running on Silver compound Ellipses and Mono wheels!

Now we dribble over into Indiana to catch up with team driver Justin Green. He went to Turf Burners RC Raceway in Indianapolis to compete at their Midwest Indoor Turf Champs event. Running in the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes he would finish second in both while using Fuzz Bites on all four corners on his wheeler along with Fuzz Bites in the front and Nessi tires in the rear on his 2wd buggy! He also used our Mono wheels, S2 bodies, and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.

Heading north we stop in at Grandville, MI where Grand River RC is situated at. This past weekend team driver Chris Rothwell visited this track to compete in Round 4 of their East vs. West Series in the Mod 2wd Buggy class.

He would lock up the final podium spot while running on Silver compound Ellipse tires in both the front and back along with an F2 body and a B6.3 Servo Mount Brace!

Heading west we stop in ‘the land of a thousand lakes’ to get a few updates from the team competing at 510 Raceway in Foley, MN for their Off-Road Trophy Series. Starting with team driver Christopher Malooly he made the podium in two classes with a 3rd place finish in Mod 4wd Buggy, and a TQ and win in 13.5 4wd Buggy! He used Silver compound Ellipse tires on both of his vehicles.

Also competing at this event was teammate Kyle Holmberg in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He would double down with TQs and wins in both classes while rocking Silver compound Ellipse treads!

Let’s now head south to Texas to get a few updates from the team competing at different tracks this past weekend.

Starting with team driver Robert Chapman he went racing at 4way Speedway in Abilene this past weekend and finished 2nd in Midwest Modified and 1st in Outlaw Sprint while running Green compound Dirt Webs & Ellipse tires!

Moving to Hutto where Thornhill Racing is located we get our next report from team driver Brian Henn. They recently held their first Championship Series Race of the season and he competed in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. After running eight-minute AA mains for both classes he would finish 2nd in e buggy and 1st in e truggy! His buggy used Green compound Detox tires while his trug slugged it out with Reflex tires in the same compound.

Our next stop is at Columbus, GA where HobbyTown Columbus track is located. This past weekend they hosted Round 2 of the Snap Hard Racing League and let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Chris VanRaemdonck.

He competed in three different classes at this race and would go on to take the TQ and win in all of them, plus a $100 cash purse in Mod 2wd Buggy!

  • Mod 2wd Buggy = TQ and 1st while rolling on Aqua compound Ellipse tires, Mono wheels, an S2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and a Black B6.3 Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = TQ and 1st while rolling on Aqua compound Ellipse tires, Mono wheels, an F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing and a Black B74.1 Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
  • Vintage buggy = TQ and 1st while rolling on Aqua compound Ellipse tires and Mono 2.2″ wheels

Teammate Jason Westfall also competed in the Mod 2wd Buggy class and would take home 3rd place along with some cold cash thanks to his Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires!

JC driver Justin Sherman also made the trip to this race and competed in the Mod 2wd SCT and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. He would take 1st place in SCT and a TQ and win in 17.5 buggy too! His winning buggy used Green compound Ellipses wrapped around Mono wheels, while his SCT utilized an HF2 body, Hazard wheels, and Green compound Octagons. Joining him on the 17.5 2wd Buggy podium in 3rd place was teammate Tom Sherman!

Heading down to Florida let’s check in on the team who competed at SS Hobbies in Tampa for Round 2 of the Emerge series that past weekend. Starting with team driver Dustin Spallone he let us know that he placed 5th overall in Mod 2wd Buggy and took the TQ and win in Expert 13.5 Stadium Truck class! His truck used an F2 body and Silver compound Ellipses while his buggy used an F2 body, Silver compound Ellipses, and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.

Also competing at this race was teammate Joshua Vicidomini in the Mod 2wd Buggy class. After the event had concluded he finished a solid 6th place while running on Silver compound Ellipse tires!

Now let’s get a few updates from our international team starting with JConcepts driver Clément Boda. Over the weekend he would compete at the GP of Montpellier in the south of France. This event was delayed for rain at one point and after battling in the 1/8 main he just missed out on the transfer spot to the 1/4 finals. But, he still gained a lot of knowledge and had fun while running an S15 body, Black compound Reflex tires, 17mm Finnisher Serrated / Magnetic Wheel Nuts, and a Finish Line Quick Access Nitro Pit Bag!

Our final report comes to us courtesy of team driver Alex Bernadzik. Over the weekend he competed at a special memorial race in Australia held at Pine Hills Dirt Racing to honor the memory of Andrew Carding who was a big part of the RC community down under.

This race not only brought drivers together to honor Andrew, but it also helped to spread more awareness of prostate cancer which is a win for everyone!
