Race Team Update – February 2022 Week #3

It was another winning weekend for the JConcepts race team which you can read for yourself in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down in the sunny state of Florida. There were a few events happening throughout the state so let’s see how the team finished up starting with Round 2 of the Florida RC Championships. This event took place at Mills Pond RC Speedway in Fort Lauderdale and team driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. reported that he finished 2nd in the 1/8 Pro E Buggy class, and took the TQ and win in the E Truggy class! His buggy used Green compound Kosmos rubber while his truggy used Reflexes in the same compound.

Also racing at this event was teammate Carl Lebo in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class. At the end of the event he would take the win while running a Silencer body and Green compound Reflex tires!

JC driver Tony Rivas competed in two classes at this recent round. In the 1/8 Open E Buggy class he finished 5th overall, and in the 1/8 40+ E Buggy class he locked up the 2nd spot on the podium! For the mains he used Green compound Teazers, Bullet wheels, Dirt-Tech inserts, a S15 body, F2I wing and RM2 Clover Large Flange Wing Buttons.

Now we head to the city of Cocoa where Beachline Raceway is seated at. There we find team driver Zach Griggs who recently competed at Round 1 of their Carpet Wars series. In the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes he would just miss out on the transfer spots to the A Main and finish 11th in both classes! In the Mod 2wd Buggy class he would make the big show and finish 7th for the day! His vehicles ran Twin Pins, Swaggers and Fuzz Bite tires.

Now we move up the coast to Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they hosted the ROAR Region 3 1/10 Electric Off-Road Regional Championships and the JConcepts team made a strong showing once again.

Starting with team driver Chris VanRaemdonck he competed in four different classes and won in three of them!

  • Mod 2wd Buggy = TQ & 1st
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = 1st
  • Mod Stadium Truck = 2nd
  • Mod Short Course Truck = TQ & 1st

All of his vehicles were running fast on sanded down Silver compound Ellipses.

His teammate Josh Parrish also had quite a weekend as he took home multiple awards too! In the 17.5 2wd Buggy class he would take the TQ and win while running a F2 body, sanded down Silver compound Ellipses, Mono wheels and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing! In the 13.5 4wd Buggy class he would grab another TQ and win while running a S2 shell, sanded down Gold compound Ellipses, Mono wheels and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing! In the Mod Stadium Truck class he would take the TQ and win while running sanded down Silver compound Ellipses and Mono wheels!

Teammate Jason Westfall competed in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and would take home the TQ and 2nd place while competing on ghosted Silver compound Ellipses plus a F2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing! He also grabbed some hardware in the Mod Stadium Truck class as he locked up the final podium spot! Joining him on the Mod 4wd Buggy podium were teammates Chris and Dave McEwen (3rd) to complete the JConcepts sweep!

Speaking of JC driver Dave McEwen, he decided to keep busy at this event at he competed in five classes! He would make the A Main in all them and earns our coveted ‘ironman‘ award this week too!

  • Mod 2wd Buggy = 3rd while using Smoothie 2 tires in the Silver compound, Mono wheels, RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd Front Inserts, B6.3 Fin Titanium Front Axles, a B6.3 Servo Mount Brace, a B6.3 Front Wing, a Pre-Trimmed Carpet | Turf | Dirt, 7″ Wing and a P2 body
  • Mod Short Course Truck = 2nd while using Octagons in the Silver compound, Hazard wheels and a HF2 body
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = 3rd while using Smoothie 2 tires in the Silver compound, Mono wheels, RM2 2.2″ Hard 4wd Front Inserts and a S2 body

Now we head up the coast to RC Madness in Enfield, CT for our next report. Team driver Eric Bresnahan competed there over the weekend at their February Freeze event in three classes.

When the event had wrapped up he would finish 7th in 17.5 2wd Buggy, 1st in Stadium Truck and a TQ and 1st place finish in Short Course Truck! All vehicles were using Pin Downs and Swaggers rubber along with a HF2 body.

Veering northwest into New York we stop in at Traction Action RC Raceway & Hobbies in Plainview to check in with team driver Brent Sianez. Over the past weekend he was racing there at the Manufacturers Cup event which saw about 140 entries. He competed in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and would finish 3rd for the race! In Mod 2wd Buggy he set the TQ and finished 2nd! Both bugs were using Nessi and Fuzz Bites tires.

Heading south into Pennsylvania let’s pull up to the PA Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. This building hosted the Motorama event that featured both RC dirt off-road and oval racing events.

Starting on the off-road side, team driver Tom Petrella reported that after the AAA mains were completed he would finish 29th in 1/8 Expert E Buggy and 5th place in 1/8 Master 40+ E Buggy! He tried an assortment of tires like Black compound Reflexes, Silver compound ReHabs and Green compound Ellipses. He also used S15 shells and Bullet wheels.

Also racing at this event was teammate Joshua Vicidomini in three different classes and he put in great results in all of them!

  • Pro4 Short Course Truck – TQ & 1st while using a HF2 body and Green compound Lil Chasers
  • 1/8 Intermediate Electric Truggy = 3rd while using Green compound Ellipses and a F2 truck body
  • 1/8 Intermediate Electric Buggy = 12th while using Green compound Ellipses and a S15 body

Over on the Oval track JConcepts driver Nathan Dean took home more racing hardware as he won in both the Late Model and Outlaw Sprint classes!

Bouncing over to the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex in New Albany, IN we check in with team driver Justin Green who recently raced at Round 3 of their Point Series. He competed in two classes and would finish 7th in 13.5 4wd Buggy and 3rd overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy! Both buggies used Smoothies and S2 shells.

Making our way up to Waite Park, MN we stop in at Thunder Road Raceway. This past weekend they held their monthly trophy race and JC driver Thor Ott was in attendance. When the event had concluded he would take the TQ and win in the 17.5 Expert 2wd Buggy class!

Heading south we move into the “Show Me State” for a few updates from the team. Our first pitstop is at KC Hall in Sullivan which recently hosted a round of the Childress R/C Winter Series. Team driver Chris Parrish reports that his Bearfoot Racer retro rig took the win in Retro Class Bracket 1 while using the following gear!

  • Regulator chassis conversion kit

  • 1988 Chevy Silverado Monster Truck body
  • Golden Years tires in the Gold compound

In Sport Mod Bracket 2 his Bearfoot Racer went to the finals for the second event in a row, and he defeated his other team truck Equalizer in the semi finals! Both trucks utilized the following gear:

  • Silent Speed 17T Adjustable Timing Competition Motor

Teammate Jeremy Mark also competed at this recent round in the Sport Modified class. His Taurus 3 replica won racing bracket 1! In the Pro Modified class his Sudden Impact truck finished runner-up in racing bracket 1, while his other Taurus truck won racing bracket 2! All of his trucks used the following JConcepts goodies!

Staying in state we now head to Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs for this update from team driver Orlando Martinez. Over the weekend he attended Round 5 of their point series and he would finish 4th in 13.5 4wd Buggy and took the W in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! Both cars used Ellipses in the rear, Dirt Webs up front, plus Mono wheels and F2 lids in the lightweight option.

Kicking it over to Kansas let’s check on JC driver Travis Slover who recently raced at Ultraline Hobbies RC Raceway in Topeka for Round 7 of their Super Cup Saturday Off-Road Winter Points series. He competed in the 40+ 2wd Buggy class and would grab 3rd for the day while using the following gear!

  • Fuzz Bite tires
  • Swagger tires
  • Mono wheels
  • P2K body
  • Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing

Now we head to Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they held the final round of their Triple Scoop Off-Road Carpet Series and team driver Ethan Delair melted the competition as he took the TQ and win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class while running fast with Swaggers and Twin Pins tires, a S2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and Black Fin Turnbuckles!

Also dishing it out to the competition at this event was JConcepts driver David Peavler. He competed in three different classes and podiumed in all of them!

17.5 2wd Buggy = 2nd
Mod 2wd Buggy = 2nd
13.5 4wd Buggy = 1st

His vehicles used our Fuzz Bite and Swaggers mounted to Mono wheels along with a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.

Heading further west towards the Rockies we get our next update from legendary Colorado team driver, Rob Sturghill. This past weekend he competed at MHOR RC Raceway in the city of Aurora for their 27th Rumble in the Rockies. He would finish 12th overall in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class while in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class he would lock in 5th place overall! He ran S2 shells in the lightweight option, sanded down Silver compound Ellipses, Mono wheels, RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd and 4wd Front Inserts and B6.3 Fin Titanium Front Axles.

Now let’s shoot down to Texas to get some updates from the team competing at several tracks across the state. Our first stop is at Indy RC World in Garland which held two events on Saturday and Sunday. First up on Saturday was Round 4 of their Winter Oval series and team driver Kevin Mcnatt took the win in the SC Mod class while running on Silver compound Ellipses!

Teammate Tyler Hooks competed in the Midwest Modified class and would take the win! He would also take the TQ and win in the 10.5 Sprint class, and both vehicles used Silver and Gold compound Ellipses plus RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd Front Inserts!

Then on Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY it was time for Round 3 of their Winter Chill series. JC driver Hunter La Flower competed in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and he finished 3rd in e buggy and 2nd in nitro buggy!

Tyler would take the double TQ and win in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes while rolling on Blue and Aqua compound Detox and Reflex tires!

Tyler kept busy this week as he also went to Arlington where GoldStar Hobbies and Raceway is located to compete at the finals for their Winter Carpet Series. He would finish in 2nd place for the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and 1st place in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class! Both cars rocked out on Fuzz Bites and Pin Swags rubber plus a F2 body.

Now let’s get a few updates from our international team starting with JC driver Jordan Isergin. He recently attended the Wadonga RC Car Club 2022 SummerSlam in Wodonga, Australia.

He competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes on their outdoor, red clay surface and he would take double wins in both classes plus a TQ in wheeler! He used Green and Blue compound Sprinters along with Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.

Teammate Lachlan Donnelly made the 6.5 hour drive to compete at this event too in Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy as well as Mod Stadium Truck. He would finish 3rd in Mod 4wd, set the TQ and finish up 2nd in Mod 2wd, plus another TQ and 3rd place finish in Mod Stadium Truck! He ran the following JC trinkets on his cars:

  • Green and Blue compound Sprinters
  • P2 body
  • F2 body
  • Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing
  • Aero S-Type 6.5″ Rear Wing
  • Aero S-Type Rear Wing Center Dividers

JC driver Jarod Ment also raced in the same classes as Lachlan and he would finish as high as 2nd place in the Mod Stadium Truck class! He also used Green and Blue compound Sprinters, F2 and P2 bodies, B6.3 Fin Titanium Front Axles and Aero S-Type 6.5″ Rear Wings.

Our final update comes to us courtesy of Canadian team driver Damian Lamy. He recently raced at Centre Du Hobby in Trois-Rivières, QC, Canada for their Tundra Winter Champs event. He raced in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would TQ and win in both of them while running fast on sanded down Silver compound Ellipses!
