In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Florida team driver, Kenny Setser!
1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?
When I was about eight I had a nitro dirt oval late model. I raced it every Friday night at my family’s track. I never really bashed; I would just race and practice a lot.
2. Stock or 17.5 2wd Buggy is the biggest class in off-road electric racing currently. Why do you think this is and do you see these as a problem moving forward with the racing industry?
My opinion to why 17.5 2wd buggy is the biggest class in off-road is because it is not too fast, but also not too slow to get started racing in, and it also helps you to be more consistent with your lap times. I don’t see a problem with it because it’s just going to make you a better driver when your racing with other drivers that are close in speed as you.
3. If you had to guess where the 1/10 off-road electric scene is ten years from now, would you expect to see more dirt, carpet, or turf tracks and why?
I would think 10 years from now there will probably be more carpet and turf tracks rather than dirt because it’s a lot cleaner and you pretty much have maximum traction.
4. To date what is your favorite JConcepts product of all time and why?
I would say that the car stand is my favorite JConcepts product because not only does our cars have JConcepts products, but we can also have our pit tables looking good as well for pictures.
5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about you?
My hidden talent is that I work on real cars with my dad everyday in the shop.
