Race Team Update – April 2022 Week #3

Another week of racing is in the books and the JConcepts race team continues to spring into action on various tracks around the globe! Read about our recent highlights in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down in Port Saint Lucie, FL where the Sundancers Raceway RC Club is located. This past weekend they hosted Round 3 of the Florida RC Championships and the JConcepts team was up to the challenge once again. Our first update from this event comes to us from team driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. He reported that took the double TQ and win in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Open 1/8 Eectric Truggy classes! His buggy used Blue compound Reflex tires for A1 before switching over to the Green compound for A2. In the Truggy class he used Blue compound Detox tires and opted to run Green compound Kosmos tires for A2. Joining him on the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy podium were teammates Trent Walker (3rd), Nelson Garcia (4th) and Jader Lopez (5th)!

Also running laps at this event was his JC mate Carl Lebo. He started in 2nd for the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class A Main and would go on to take the win! In the 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would also set the TQ and finish 3rd, and both cars used the following gear:

  • S15 body
  • Blue compound ReHabs
  • R2 compound Stalkers
  • Dirt-Tech inserts
  • Bullet wheels

Team driver Kawri Brown also competed at this race, and he set the TQ and finished 2nd in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy, plus took the win in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

And team driver Jonathan Hernandez finished 5th in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy too!

JConcepts driver Tony Rivas also raced in two classes and would finish 8th in 1/8 40+ Electric Buggy and 4th in 1/8 Electric Buggy! His cars both utilized a S15 body, Blue compound Teazers, Reflex, and Kosmos tires as well as Dirt-Tech inserts and Bullet wheels.

JConcepts driver Jader Lopez took the TQ and win in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class while running on Blue compound Kosmos tires in the main event! Joining him on the podium were JConcepts teammates Trent Walker (2nd) and Kiarra Hold (3rd)!

His JConcepts teammate Joshua Vicidomini finished 2nd in the Open 1/8 Nitro buggy class while using our R2 compound Reflex tires! He also bumped up into the A Main for the Open 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would move up to 7th place while running fast on Blue compound Reflex tires!

Staying in the state we now head over to Newred Hobbies in Ocala for our next report. Team driver Zach Griggs recently went there to compete at Round 4 of the Emerge Series in two classes. In 13.5 4wd Buggy he would qualify 6th for the A Main and move up to a 5th place finish! In the Mod 2wd Buggy class he would bump into the A Main after winning the B Main, and would finish a solid 9th place in the A Main! Both bugs used Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings, F2 bodies and Smoothie 2 tires.

Our final update from Florida this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Reuben Diaz. He recently competed at Round 7 of the MAYHEM IV Series hosted by the Coral Springs RC Track in Coral Springs. He competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and would take the TQ and win! He ran in Mod 4wd Buggy too and would snag another TQ and 1st place finish!

Now let’s head up the coast to The Hobby Connection in Easley, SC. They recently hosted Round 2 of the SOS (Southern Off-Road) Series which saw 244 entries! Let’s see how the team finished starting with JC driver Jonah Wilson. He competed in three different classes and made the podium in all of them which included a win!

  • 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy = 3rd place while running on Silver compound ReHab tiress, a S15 body and a F2I wing
  • Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy = 2nd place while running on Silver compound ReHabs, a S15 body and a F2I wing
  • 1/8 Electric Truggy = TQ and 1st while running on Blue compound Reflex tires, a F2 truck body and a F2I wing

His teammate Ennis Graves finished 8th overall in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 1/8 Intermediate Nitro Buggy classes while using F2 and Silencer shells, plus Detox, Reflex and ReHab tires in various compounds!

JConcepts driver Cade Burnette also competed in three different classes at this race and made all of his mains which included a win in the e buggy class!

  • 1/8 Nitro Truggy = DNF in the main while using Blue compound Reflex tires, a F2 truck body and a F2I wing
  • Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy = 6th place while using Blue compound Rehabs
  • Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 1st place while using Silver compound ReHabs

Team driver David Olsen reported that he finished 7th in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 3rd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and both vehicles used Silver compound Rehabs!

Heading up the coast even more our next pit stop is at World of R/C Parts & Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama, NC. Last week was their first Friday Night Features race of the year, and team driver Josh Parrish was ready for the challenge as he took the win the Mod 4wd Buggy class while running fast on Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires, a S2 shell and a Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing!

Staying in the state we now head to Zoo City Raceway Park in Asheboro since they were the recent host of the North Carolina Short Course & Truck Championship that saw 152 entries. Team driver Rusty Mihelich brought out the friends and family for this race as he would set the TQ and finish 2nd in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! He would also finish 3rd in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class too! His better half Stacey took the TQ and win in the Novice class! And young driver Maddy Long made the main in all three of her classes which also included a win!

  • 1/8 Open Electric Buggy = TQ and 1st
  • 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 5th place
  • 1/8 Nitro Truggy = 2nd place

Now we bounce up to Indiana for our next team report. JC driver Kyle Munson recently competed at the Great Lakes Indoor Championship race that was held at RC Fun Park in Granger. He would compete in three different classes with much success!

  • 17.5 2wd Buggy = 8th place while racing with Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slicks and a F2 body
  • Pro2 SCT = TQ and 1st place while racing with Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slicks and Hazard wheels
  • Stadium Truck = TQ and 2nd place while racing with Aqua compound Ellipses sanded to slicks

Jumping the Stateline into Michigan we now head to the city of Battle Creek where Dirt Devils RC Speedway is located, They recently held Round 3 of the Great Lakes Shootout Series which is a dirt oval event and our driver Jeff Todd was in attendance. He competed in the Street Stock class and would lock up the final podium spot while using Green compound Dirt Webs up front, Green compound Ellipses in the rear and all glued to 9-Shot wheels!

Heading over to Minnesota we get our next update from JC driver Thor Ott who recently competed at Thunder Road Raceway in Waite Park for their April trophy race. He would compete in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and finish 2nd overall while using Fuzz Bite tires glued to Mono wheels! Joining him on the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy podium in 3rd place was teammate Brayden Nelson!

Sending it south to the “show me state” we stop in at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO. This past Saturday they held Round 1 of the Slideways Saturday Points Series, but unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate and after two rounds of qualifying the event was cancelled. So awards were handed out based on a driver’s qualifying position so that meant in the Open Sprint class JConcepts driver Nick Gibson would finish 3rd and his JC teammate Jeremy Cathlina would take the win!

Shooting further down into Texas let’s get an update from the team competing at a few different events. Starting with JC driver Rhett McNair he reports that he went to GoldStar Hobbies and Raceway in Arlington to race in Round 2 of their Saturday Series. He competed in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and would take the TQ and win while using Fuzz Bites, a lightweight S2 shell, Mono wheels and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing!

JConcepts driver Tyler Keel let us know that he competed at Round 1 of the Border Wars took place at Amarillo Raceway Park in Amarillo. He competed in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy class and took the TQ and win Friday night at their club races!

Then on Saturday he would qualify 3rd for the main before a bit of bad luck dropped him back to 6th place for the event. All weekend long his car was running fast on R2 compound Stalkers during the day, and Blue compound Stalkers at night.

Heading out to sunny California we get our next report from JC driver Rob Moots. He recently competed at LSR Speedway in Sacramento for Round 1 of the King Of The Dirt Oval Series in the Mod Sprint class. He would qualify 4th into the A Main and went on to take the W while using Silver compound Ellipse tires!

 

Heading north let’s see how the team finished up at Round 1 Of the (NCT) Northwest Championship Tour (also know as the Columbia Cup) that took place at Pasco, WA. Starting with team driver Cole Chura he competed in three classes while using Silencer shells, a F2 truck body and Green compound Reflex and ReHabs tires!

  • 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy = TQ and 2nd
  • 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 4th place
  • 1/8 Nitro Truggy = 4th place

Team driver Jacob Hudson reported that he competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes. He would finish 2nd in truggy and took the win in buggy! Both cars used Green compound Ellipse rubber glued to Bullet wheels plus a F2 truck body on his truggy.

Also throwing down laps at this race was teammate Robert Sorjonen. He competed in three different classes and took the win in all of them!

  • 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy = 1st while racing on Green compound Reflex tires
  • 1/8 Electric Truggy = TQ and 1st while racing on Green compound Ellipse tires
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = TQ and 1st while racing on Green compound Ellipse tires

Joining him on the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy podium in 2nd place were teammates Cole Chura and Dylan Bartlett in 5th!

JC driver Paul Parks competed in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would finish 10th while using Green compound Ellipse and Reflex tires!

Now let’s get some updates from our international team starting with Australian team driver Ben Panic. He recently flew to Brisbane to compete at the East Coast Nationals and would finish 7th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 2nd place in Gas Truck! His cars used Reflex and Sprinter tires, Mono and Bullet wheels and S15 and Finnisher bodies. Also bringing home hardware at this event were JC mates Alex Bernadzik and Aaron Dexter!

Now we head to Otterville Raceway in Tillsonburg, ON, Canada for Round 1 of their Otter Cup Series.

Team driver Jordan Miles competed in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes and would suffer a DNF in the e buggy class, and just miss out on the podium in the nitro class! Both bugs used Green compound Stalkers that weekend.

Finally, team driver Dylan Raposo also competed at this race in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and he would secure 2nd place while running on Green compound Stalkers in qualifying and Blue compound Stalkers for the mains!
