No fooling around for the JConcepts team as they continue to dominate on several tracks this past week which you can read all about in this new edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report at Taylor Park RC Raceway in Yukon, OK. This past weekend they held their Spring Nationals and a special cancer benefit race. Not only were drivers putting down fast left turn laps, but they also raised $10,000 for two different families who recently who have been affected by personal tragedy. So before racers hit the track it was a big win for everyone involved!
For the actual racing results, the JConcepts team was out in full force so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver Robert Chapman who competed in both the Midwest Modified and Outlaw Sprint classes. He would unfortunately break out in the Outlaw Sprint main to finish 8th, but he bounced back in the Midwest Modified class to take 2nd place! Both cars were equipped with Green compound Dirt Webs up front and Green compound Ellipses in the rear, and all tires were glued to 9 Shot rims.
Teammate Randy Lathrop also competed in the Outlaw Sprint class and finished 2nd on the podium! His teammate Nathan Dean finished slightly ahead of him in 1st place and Randy’s better half Jen finished in 4th! Jen also finished 5th in the Late Model class and Randy ended up 7th in Midwest Modified too. All of their cars were running fast on 9 Shot wheels glued to Green compound Dirt Webs in the front and Ellipses in the rear.
JConcepts driver Kevin Lenderman competed in the Outlaw Sprint class and just missed transferring out of the lower mains. He also competed in the Mudboss class and would pick up the TQ and win! All vehicles used Green compound Ellipse tires mounted to Mono wheels.
Now we shoot down to Texas to the city of Hutto where Thornhill Racing Circuit is located. Team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. recently competed at Round 2 of their Championship Series and he let us know that he finished in 6th place in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy class and 2nd overall in the 1/8 Expert Electric Truggy class! His e buggy ran a S15 shell, Blue compound Blockers and Bullet wheels, while his truggy used a F2 truck body, Blue compound Reflex tires and Bullet wheels.
Heading east let’s take a pit stop at RC3 Racing in Huntsville, AL. This past weekend was their Tiny Trophy Race which also acts like a season opener for the track. The JConcepts team was out in full force at this event so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Drew Williams.
Drew let us know that he competed in 1/8 Nitro Truggy plus 1/8 Electric Truggy and Buggy. In the e buggy class he would make the main event and finish 5th overall. In e truggy he would set the TQ but had a mechanical failure in the A Main and had to drop out of contention. He also set the TQ in the nitro truggy class and would go on to take the win! All of his cars used Blue compound Triple Dees.
Teammate Jerrid Wright also raced at this event and competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Mod SCT classes. In e buggy he would have bad luck as he broke out in round 1 of qualifying plus the lower mains so he would end up in 30th place while running on Green compound ReHab and Reflex tires. He had better luck in the Mod SCT class and he would cross the line in 1st place while running on Green compound Sprinter tires!
JC driver Izriah Osborne celebrated his birthday last weekend the best way know how, by racing at a RC trophy race! The birthday boy competed in three different classes and made the mains in all of them!
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = 1st place while running on Green compound Detox tires, a Silencer shell and a F2I wing
- 1/8 Electric Truggy = 1st place while running on Blue compound Triple Dees and a F2 truck body
- 1/8 Nitro Buggy = TQ and a DNF (10th) while running on Green compound Detox tires, a Silencer shell and a F2I wing
Teammate Jamie Spurgin also competed at this race in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Mini Truggy classes. He would lock up the final spot on the e buggy podium and set the TQ and finished 2nd in the Mini Truggy class! Both vehicles uses Green compound Ellipses.
JConcepts driver Bryce Taets raced in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. In e buggy he would finish in 7th place while in the nitro class he would secure 4th overall! Both bugs used Green compound Reflexes all day long.
Team driver Chris Rakus also competed in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes for this event. He started 3rd on the grid for the e buggy main, but some electronic gremlins would end his run early as he fell back to 9th place. In the nitro main he started 2nd overall, and after two laps he would take over the lead for good as he crossed the finish line in 1st place! For both mains he opted to run Blue compound Reflex tires and joining him on the podium in 3rd place was teammate Timothy Hobbs!
JC mate Will Scott competed in both the 1/8 Electric Truggy and Mod 4wd Buggy classes. In the truggy class he would just miss out transferring to the A Main, and in mod wheeler he would qualify and finish in 4th place! His truggy used Triple Dees while his wheeler ran on Double Dees V2 in the rear and Sprinters in the front.
Crossing the stateline into Georgia our next stop is at Phil Hurd Raceway in Savannah. Team driver Doug Dragotta recently competed there for Round 3 of their SCORE Winter/Spring Series in the Mod 2wd Buggy class. After qualifying 4th for the A Main he made some adjustments to his car and would go on to take the W! In the win he used our Green compound Double Dee V2 tires in the rear, Blue compound Rips in the front, plus a P2 body.
Heading up the coastline our next step is at Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they kicked off the start of their Super 7 Series and team driver Rusty Mihelich not only brought his A game but his family and friends too!
Starting with Rusty he competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and would qualify 3rd for the main and go on to take the win! He would also finish in 2nd place in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class as well!
“Mad” Maddy Long qualified and finished in 6th place in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! She also qualified 4th for the mains for 1/8 Electric Buggy but a few car issues would knock her out of contention.
“Mighty” Mylee Mihelich just missed out transferring from the B Main in 1/8 Electric Buggy, but she made the big show for the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished a solid 8th place!
Stacey Mihelich wasn’t able to transfer out of the lower mains for 1/8 Electric Buggy class, but she still had a great time with some close racing in her final race of the day! The entire crew was running strong on Green compound Detox tires all day.
Also competing at this event was teammate Luis Diego in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class. He would take the TQ and win while running fast on Silver compound Ellipse tires!
Heading north let’s next visit DRP Raceway in Old Forge, PA for this next report from team driver Matt Morris. Last weekend he competed there for their Carpet Champs event and competed in three classes with great results!
- 17.5 2wd Buggy = 2nd place while running on Fuzz Bites, Mono wheels and a S2 shell
- Mod 2wd Buggy = 4th place while running on Fuzz Bites, Mono wheels and a S2 shell
- Mod Stadium Truck = TQ and 1st place while running on Swaggers in the front and Pin Downs in the rear.
Now let’s fly out to the Pacific Northwest for our next report by JC driver Brian Phillips. He recently visited Tri-Cities RC Raceway in Pasco, WA for some racing action and would take the win in Mod 4wd Buggy plus the TQ and win in 1/8 Electric Buggy! Both cars used Green compound Sprinters and Ellipses that day.
Now let’s get a few quick updates from our international team who recently competed at the Bego Racing Remote Control Complex located at Saint-Blaise-sur-Richelieu in the Canadian province of Quebec.
Team driver Steve Seguin reported that he finished 3rd in the 4wd Buggy class while running on Smoothie 2 tires!
Teammate Daemon Holon would take the win in this class along with a 3rd place finish in 2wd Buggy and a TQ and win in Stadium Truck! His 2wd buggy used Silver compound Ellipses and a S2 body, his 4wd car used the same tire setup along with a F2 body and his truck used Gold compound Octagons.
Our final report comes to us courtesy of team driver Clément Boda who recently competed at Round 1 of the EOS in Germany. After the race was complete he would finish in 12th in Mod 2wd Buggy running a S2 shell, and 7th in Mod 4wd Buggy while rocking a F2 body!
