It was another busy week of racing for the JConcepts race team as they continued to dominate tracks around the globe! Read about it for yourself in this packed edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report in Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend was the opening round of their annual Summer Series which saw a record 212 entries for the single day race! We had a plethora of drivers competing for the win so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver David Peavler. He competed in three different classes for Round 1 and finished 6th in 13.5 4wd Buggy, 5th in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy and took the W in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy! All of his rides used Gold compound Ellipses in the rear, Gold compound Dirt Webs up front and all were mounted to Mono rims.
Team driver Bradley Peterson was also throwing down laps at this event. He would just miss out on the podium in both the 13.5 4wd and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy classes as he finished a solid 4th place in both! His vehicles were equipped with the following gear:
- Gold compound Dirt Webs
- Gold compound Ellipses
- S2 body
- F2 body
- Aero S-Type 6.5″ Rear Wing
His JC mate Mason Herrick competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. In Mod wheeler he would finish 7th for the day, and he would secure the final podium spot in Mod 2wd! He also ran Gold compound Dirt Webs up front with Ellipses in the rear. Those tires were mounted to Mono wheels, and he also ran a F2 body on his wheeler with a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing. Joining him on the Mod 2wd podium were teammates Alex Vanderbeek in 2nd and Tom Rinderknecht in 1st to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!
JC driver Drew Rubenking also competed in both mod buggy classes too. In Mod 2wd Buggy he would finish 6th overall and in Mod 4wd Buggy he would set the TQ and finish 3rd! Joining him on the podium was his teammate Alex Vanderbeek in 1st place!.
JConcepts driver, and HobbyPlex race director, Alex Sturgeon also got some racing in at this past round. In the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class he would finish in 1st place! He would also take the TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class as well! His wheeler used a F2 body and Gold compound Ellipses on all four corners. His 2wd car used Gold compound Dirt Webs up front with Ellipses in the rear, and joining him on the 13.5 4wd Buggy podium in 2nd place was fellow JConcepts driver Cole Henriksen!
JC teammate Brandon Kearney competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes this past weekend. He would finish 12th overall in both classes and his cars were running fast on Gold compound Dirt Webs up front, Gold compound Ellipses in the rear, Mono wheels, F2 shells and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings!
JC driver Will Brinton reported that he finished 7th overall in Mod 2wd Buggy and also took the TQ and W in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class! Joining him on the 13.5 Stadium Truck podium was his JC teammate Emerson Sturgeon!
JConcepts pilot David Fast competed in two different classes at this series race. He finished 12th overall in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class and 7th place in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy! His truck used Gold compound Ellipses all the way around while his 2wd used Gold compound Ellipses in the rear and Gold compound Dirt Webs up front.
Team driver Ethan Delair competed in both Mod 4wd and 2wd Buggy, and he would finish 9th in 4wd and 5th in 2wd! His 4wd vehicle used Gold compound Ellipses in both the front and rear along with a F2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing. His 2wd ride used the same wing along with Gold compound Dirt Webs up front and Ellipses in the back.
Now we head south to Boogs RC Track in Binger, OK for our next report from team driver Tyler Keel.
He recently competed there at their money race event and would set the TQ and take the win, plus a fist full of cash in the Mod Sprint class while rolling on Green compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses stuffed with Dirt Tech inserts!
Now let’s shoot down to Texas to get a few updates from the team competing at different tracks throughout the state. Starting with team driver Mikey Chiudioni he checked in to let us know that competed at Round 2 of the Summer Series Championship at Raceparty R/C Track in El Paso. He competed in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would take the TQ and win while using Blue compound Reflex tires and a Silencer lid!
Heading to Mikes Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter let’s see how the team finished up at the final round of the the HARC (Houston Area RC) Winter Series. Starting with team driver Phi-Long Nguyen he finished 1st in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes which meant he took home hardware and hands full of cash! He said he used Green compound Reflex tires along with Blue compound ReHab and Detox tires too. He also used a Silencer body on his buggy and a F2 truck body on his truggy.
His teammate Brian Germany also competed at the finals and he finished 1st overall in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class! His son also finished 3rd in the 1/8 Sportsman Electric Buggy class and both cars used Blue compound Reflex tires.
Heading to the city of Arlington we meet up with JC driver Rhett McNair who just attended the finals for the Saturday Spring Fever Series at Goldstar Hobbies. After all the points were calculated for the series he would finish 2nd in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class while competing with Fuzz Bites tires on all four corners mounted the Mono wheels, plus a S2 shell and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing! Joining him on the podium were fellow JC drivers Mike Stoll (1st) and Kyle Wilson (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!
Now we pack up and head east to The Barn RC Raceway in Barnesville, GA. They were host to Round 3 of the SOS (Southern Off-Road Series) this past weekend which saw 171 entries!
Starting with team driver Trevor Michael he reports that he finished 5th in 1/8 Electric Truggy and 2nd place in 1/8 Intermediate Electric Buggy! His truggy used Green compound Reflex tires and a F2I wing while his buggy used Triple Dees in the same compound.
Team driver Shay Brand reported that he finished 2nd overall in 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy, and took the win in the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class! He also said he ran Aqua compound Detox and Reflex tires during qualifying, and decided on Aqua compound Reflex rubber for the mains, plus S15 shells too.
Taking the TQ and win in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class was team driver Jackson Brunson! In the first qualifier he opted to use Silver compound ReHabs before switching over to Blue compound Reflexes in round 2. For the mains he then decided to run Aqua compound Detox tires.
JC driver Jonah Wilson competed in three classes at this event. In the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class he would finish 2nd overall behind is teammate Shay while racing with Aqua compound Detox tires! In the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class a lapper would break his car in the final minutes, but he was still able to limp across the finish line to lock up the final podium spot using the same tire selection! In the 1/8 Electric Truggy class he would grab the TQ and win while also using the same tire choice!
Heading up the coast we team up with JC driver Josh Parrish who recently competed at Round 1 of the Sunday Funday Series at World of R/C Parts & Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama, NC. He would finish 3rd in the 1/8 Electric Buggy mains while using Blue compound Detox tires glued to Bullet wheels!
Flying back to the Midwest we touch down in the “Land Of Lincoln” and head to the city of Cambria where Next Level RC is located. They recently held their 2022 Spring Classic and team driver Ryan Mcclain finished 2nd overall in 1/8 Nitro Truggy while competing on Green compound Reflexes!
Sending it southwest to the “Show Me State” we meet up with team driver Jeremy Cathlina who recently traveled to Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs for some dirt oval racing at Round 3 of the Show Me State Series. He competed in the Open Sprint class and took the feature win along with a cash prize while running fast on Gold compound Ellipse tires!
Heading back up north to FTR Raceway in Foley, MN we get our next report from team driver Josh Ford. He competed at Round 1 of their FTR Summer Series and he would finish 5th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and took the win in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class! He used Green compound Reflex tires on his truggy.
Now we fly out west to sunny California for a few updates from the team. Our first stop is at Coyote Hobbies Raceway in Victorville. This past weekend they were host to Round 2 of the JBRL 1/10 Scale Off-Road Series, and team driver Chris Raymond reported that he finished 3rd in the Pro2 SCT class while using sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires and a HF2 body!
Also competing at this race was teammate Jeff Guest in the 40+ 17.5 2wd Buggy class and he would take the TQ and W!
Our next report in the state comes to us courtesy of team driver Jesse Granat. He recently raced at Roadrunners RC in Camarilla for Round 2 of the FNL Series, and would finish 2nd on the podium in in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!
JC driver Kyle Layton checks in to let us know that he competed at Round 3 of the Spring Series hosted by Hillside RC Raceway in Georgetown.
He competed in 17.5 2wd Buggy on this outdoor track and would take the TQ and win while using Green compound Ellipses in both the front and rear!
Now let’s get some updates from our international team starting with JConcepts driver Alberto Garcia. He recently competed at the Spain Nationals at the Circuito CARTT Fuencarral track in Madrid, Spain, and finished a solid 11th place in 1/8 Nitro Buggy while using Y2 compound Detox tires for the finals!
Team driver Clément Boda competed at Round 3 of the French Championship in Bonneville which is close to Geneva, France. He raced in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would double up with a TQ and win in both! Aiding him this past weekend was his fellow JC driver Sebastien Mure along with Finnisher bodies and Mono wheels.
Heading to Canada let’s get a few updates from the team starting with team driver Kevin Lachapelle. He recently competed at the first edition of The Rock at CTSR (Circuit Téléguidé St-Roch) in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan in Québec, Canada.
He would go on to finish 6th in 17.5 2wd Buggy and lock up 2nd place in the Stadium Truck class! His truck used a Finnisher body and sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires glued to Mono wheels.
Our final report this week is from team driver Peter Tozser. He recently went to R/C Gears located in the city of Calgary in Alberta, Canada for their Rocky Mountain Meltdown race. He would set the TQ in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finish 2nd in that class along with another 2nd place finish in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class! He used a S15 shell in his nitro car along with Green and Blue compound Reflexes.
