Race Team Update – May 2022 Week #3

From coast to coast the JConcepts race team continues to win the most, which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report up in the Pacific Northwest. Team driver Tony Corless recently went to DieHard RC in Snohomish, WA to compete at the Nora/Diehard Interstate Off-Road Series held there. He competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and took the TQ and win while using Green compound Reflex tires, a F2I wing and a S15 shell!

Heading down to the desert we stop in at Adobe Mountain R/C Speedway in Glendale, AZ. Team driver Adam Peters recently traveled there to compete at Round 1 of their Hot Summer Nights Series in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class. He would grab the TQ and finish 3rd for the 20 minute main while racing on Green and Blue compound Kosmos tires!

Moseying our way over to Texas let’s get some updates from the team competing at different tracks in the state. Our first stop is at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto. This past weekend they held their 2022 Lonestar Challenge which saw 227 entries!

Team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. was in attendance and competed in three different classes with solid results in all of them!

  • Intermediate 1/8 Electric Truggy = 2nd place while using Blue compound Triple Dees, Bullet wheels, a F2 truck body and F2I wing
  • Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 7th place while using Blue compound Blockers, Bullet wheels, a Silencer body and F2I wing
  • Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy = 12th place while using Blue compound Reflexes, Bullet wheels, a Silencer body and F2I wing

His teammate Dillon Caldwell also competed at this event in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished 4th for the weekend while using Aqua compound Detox tires!

Our next Texas tour stop is in the city of Merkel where the Money Pit is located. Team driver Robert Chapman recently visited this track as they were host to Round 4 of the RC Pro Dirt Oval Series. He competed in three classes and finished 5th in Outlaw Sprint, and took wins in the MidWest and Late Model classes! All vehicles used Green compound Dirt Webs up front, Ellipses in the rear and 9-Shot wheels.

Now we head north to Southern Minnesota RC Raceway in Blooming Prairie, MN. This past weekend was the opening round of the Minnesota Nitro Racing Series that was held there, and team driver Joe Scaramell competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and 40+ 1/8 Nitro Truggy classes. In the e buggy class he just missed the transfer to the A Main while rolling out on Blue Detox tires! In nitro truggy he finished 2nd on the podium while using the same tire setup for the finals!

Crossing the stateline we now head to Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken, WI for our next report. JConcepts driver Ryan Derenne recently raced there at Round 1 of their Summer Series in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class. After the dust had settled he would just miss out transferring to the A Main, but still had a great time competing in his first 1/8 class while using Green compound Reflex tires glued to Bullet rims!

Moving on to the “Land of Lincoln” we head to the city of Moline where Thunder Road Hobbies is located at. Team driver Bradley Peterson competed there last weekend for Round 2 of their Summer Series in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class. He would start 4th for the finals but after a rough A Main he would settle for 8th while running hard on Blue compound Reflex tires and a F2I wing!

Next, team driver Drew Spurgeon reports that he went to Bullet Town R/C in Milan, TN over the weekend to compete at their Mayhem 14 trophy race. He competed in three different classes and took 2nd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and doubled down with wins in Pro and 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy! He said he started on Green compound Teazers before switching over to Blue compound Reflexes.

Heading south into Alabama we stop in at RC3 in Huntsville for out next update. Team driver Trevor Michael recently competed there for a charity race for a local racer. He competed in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes and finished 4th in e buggy while running on Aqua compound Blockers! In the e truggy class he would take the TQ and win while using Blue compound Reflex tires, a F2 truck body and F2I wing!

Heading up the coast we stop in at Beach RC & Hobbies in Myrtle Beach, SC. There we find JC driver Jason Westfall who recently competed at Round 6 of the Snap Hard Racing League that was recently held there. He would finish 3rd in Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy, 2nd place in Mod Stadium Truck and all cars used ghosted Silver compound Ellipses mounted to Mono wheels!

Now, we head to LCRC Raceway in Mills, PA for our next report. This past weekend they held their North East Showdown which saw nearly 300 entries!

Team driver Matt Adams competed in both the Mod 2wd SCT and 1/8 Electric Truggy classes. He would finish 34th overall in e truggy and 2nd place in the SCT class! His truggy used Blue compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels, and a F2 truck body. His SCT used Green compound Sprinters glued to Hazard wheels and a Hi-Flow SCT body.

Also competing there was his teammate Tom Petrella in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class. He would finish 5th for the event while using Blue compound Rehab tires, Bullet wheels and a S15 shell!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Matt Perault. He recently competed Maximus R/C Raceway in York, ME for their Wednesday night trophy race event in the Mod 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes. In 13.5 wheeler he would finish 2nd overall while in Mod buggy he would take the W! Both cars used Fuzz Bite tires, Mono wheels, F2 bodies and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.
