Race Team Update – June 2022 Weeks #2 & 3

The JConcepts race team has been hard at work the past two weeks as they continue to rack up wins at multiple tracks around the world! Scope it out for yourself in this special double-stuffed edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report over at LCRC Raceway in Mills, PA. They recently put on their Party Rock Race event which saw 174 entries competing in 9 different classes! The JConcepts team was ready to rock n race at this event so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver Tom Petrella. He reports that he competed in the 1/8 40+ Electric and Nitro Buggy classes. In the nitro class he started 5th in the main and moved up to the 3rd spot by the time the race had finished! In e buggy he qualified and finished 2nd overall! Both vehicles used Aqua compound Detox tires in the mains along with Bullet wheels and S15 shells.

Also competing at this race was teammate Cody Saner in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class. He would secure a 5th place finish for the day while using A2 compound Reflex tires!

JC driver Aydan Manchanda finished 4th overall in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy class while using Aqua compound Detox tires, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing! He also competed in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class, but had to settle for 13th overall as he finished the race with a DNF. But until that point he was running fast on Blue compound Reflexes glued to Bullet rims.

His brother Dylan was also at this event and just missed bumping out of the B Main in 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy class after a mechanical issue. He still put in solid results and was running fast to that point on Blue compound Detox tires, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing!

JC driver Matt Adams competed in both the 1/8 Intermediate Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. In truggy he would finish 16th overall, while in the e buggy class he bumped into the main where he finished a solid 9th place! Both cars used Green and Blue compound Reflex tires throughout the weekend along with Bullet wheels and a F2 truck body.

Next, let’s get a few updates from team driver Bella Rogers who competed at a few events the past two weeks. Starting at Tri-Cities RC Racing in Lavalette, WV she traveled there to race at their Brawl For It All trophy event.

She competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and locked up the final spot on the podium while running on Black compound Triple Dees and a S15 body!

She continued to put in work the following weekend by traveling to Hazard, KY where DRCR (Dixon’s RC Raceway) is located. They held a special Electric vs. Nitro Cash event which included a cash race for a $500 purse!

In the cash event she finished 4th overall while over in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class she snagged another top 3 finish! She used Green compound Teazers in the main along with a S15 shell.

Next, we head back to the coastline to check on the team competing at S&B R/C Speedway in Piedmont, SC. Round 2 of the TSOC (Two States One Championship) Series was held there and team driver Jake Stikeleather reported that he finished 2nd overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

He used Blue compound Kosmos tires, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing.

His JC teammate Jason Westfall finished 2nd in the Mod 2wd and 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy classes! His 2wd car used Blue compound Sprinters while his e buggy used Aqua compound Stalkers.

JConcepts driver Dave McEwen competed in both the 40+ and Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy classes. He would just miss out bumping out of the B Main in the Pro e buggy class, and in the 40+ class he would take the W! In both mains he used Aqua compound Reflexes glued to Bullet wheels.

JC driver Josh Parrish competed in both the Mod 4wd and Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy classes. He would set the TQ and take the win in Mod 4wd while using a S2 shell, Green compound ReHabs, Mono rims and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing! In the e buggy class he would finish 4th overall while using a S15 lid, Aqua compound Reflex tires and Bullet wheels.

Crossing the stateline we now head to the Loganville RC Complex in Loganville, GA. This track hosted the finals for the Southern Off-Road Series so let’s see how the team performed. Starting with team driver Jonah Wilson he competed in three different classes for the finals and put in great results in all of them!

  • Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 4th place while using Orange compound ReHabs
  • Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy = 4th place while using Aqua compound Detoxes
  • 1/8 Electric Truggy = TQ and 1st place while using Aqua compound Reflexes

After the season points were calculated he would finish 2nd in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, and double down with two 1st place finished in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Also competing at the finals was JConcepts driver Trevor Michael. In the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would finish 7th overall, while in the Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he would battle back after a rough start to take the win! Both cars used Aqua compound Detox tires, a S15 body and F2I wing.

Sending it south to Florida we coast our way to Beachline Raceway in Cocoa. This past weekend they hosted Round 5 of the Carpet Wars and team driver Brett Kingsbury put on a clinic as he took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes!

He also grabbed the points series in both of those classes along with 17.5 2wd Buggy! Fuzz Bites were the go to tire for this series.

Our next stop is at Saratoga-Flowood RC Raceway in Magee, MS. Round 2 of the South RC Pro Series was held there and team driver Cameron Breaux finished 2nd in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy, and took the double TQ and win in both the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and Nitro Truggy classes! Both bugs used Blue compound Stalkers while the trug used Blue compound Reflex rubber.

Now we shoot over to Texas to get a few updates from the team competing at various tracks. Starting with team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. he recently visited Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto for Round 4 of their Championship series. He would finish 6th overall in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class while running on R2 compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels, a Silencer lid and a F2I wing! In the Expert 1/8 Truggy class he would take the TQ and win while using a F2 truck body, Aqua 2 compound Triple Dees, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing!

Staying in the state we next make our way over to El Paso where Raceparty R/C Track is located at. Recently they put on Round 3 of their series and our driver Mikey Chiudioni was in attendance. He would take the TQ and win in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! His son Mikey competed in the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and he also racked up a TQ and win! Mikey senior ran Aqua and Green compound Reflex tires while his son used Blue compound Reflexes.

Veering north we stop in at Taylor Park RC Raceway in Yukon, OK. This past weekend they held Round 4 of their points series.

Team driver Tyler Keel let us know that he took the TQ and win in the Outlaw Sprint car class while running Green compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses!

Heading further north we venture into the “Show Me State” for a few team updates from Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs. Starting with team driver Travis Slover he recently competed at their On-Road points series finale in the 21.5 Touring Car class. He would finish 4th for the event while using a A2R body and Finnisher wing buttons!

Also competing there on their indoor off-road dirt track was his fellow JC driver Orlando Martinez. He took the double win in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes while using Gold compound Dirt Webs up front, Ellipses in the rear, a F2 body on his wheeler plus Mono wheels!

Crossing the Mississippi river we head over to the recent Horizon Hobby RC Fest held at Eli Field in Monticello, IL. This event had a plethora of RC events happening during this festival so we start with team driver Matt Morris to see how we finished up.

He competed in their off-road dirt race in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He wasn’t able to transfer out of the B Main in buggy, but in Truggy he made the big show and finished a solid 4th place!

There was also a monster truck event too and team driver Josh Rhodes was ready to crush the competition. In the Losi LMT class his Grave Digger replica rig went undefeated in the Double Elimination bracket while using Tribute wheels and Blue compound Renegades tires! He would also finish in 2nd place in the Freestyle competition!

Staying in Illinois the team also recently competed at Race 2 of the Trigger King RC Club in Waterloo. Once again team driver Josh Rhodes competed in several classes and put in great results! In the Retro class his Bigfoot IV truck made the finals in Bracket 1, took the win in Bracket 2, and made the Semi Finals in Bracket 3! His truck used the following gear:

  • 1989 Ford F-250 Monster Truck body
  • Regulator chassis conversion kit
  • Gold compound Golden Year tires
  • Tribute wheels

In the ProMod class his Samson Losi LMT took wins in both brackets 2 and 3 while using the following goodies!

  • 2005 Chevy 1500 Samson body
  • Blue compound Renegades tires
  • Tribute wheels

In the Freestyle class once again his Losi LMT Grave Digger rocked the house and took the win while using the following gear!

  • JCI Mortician body
  • Blue compound Renegades tires
  • Tribute wheels

Also competing at this past round was teammate Chris Parrish. His Equalizer rig took two bracket wins in the Losi LMT class to capture the overall! It used the following gear:

  • 1988 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab body
  • Racerback
  • Blue compound Renegades tires
  • Tribute wheels

Heading even further north we settle in at Loosenuts Raceway in North Branch, MN. They recently hosted Round 2 of the Minnesota Nitro Racing Series and team driver Joe Scaramell reported that in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class some electronic gremlins plagued him all day, but in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he was able to bounce back with a 2nd place finish! He used Blue, R2 and Aqua compound Reflex tires on his cars.

Also racing at this event was teammate Tony Sletten in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class. He would lock up the final podium spot behind fellow JC drivers Seth VanDalen (1st) and Kyle Holmberg (2nd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep! For the main he used A2 compound Blockers on Bullet wheels.

Flying out west to sunny California let’s get some updates from the team competing at various events. Starting up north at Auburn RC in the city of Auburn we find team driver Jeremy Bunting. He recently competed there for Round 3 of the Nor Cal R-C Monster Trucks Points Series.

He took the win in the Retro bracket with his replica Shotgun truck that was decked out the following gear:

  • 1989 Ford F-250 Monster Truck Body

  • Regulator Servo Mount Kit (BAS) 1 Set
  • Silent Speed 27T Brushed Fixed End Bell Competition Motor
  • Golden Year tires

He also made the finals in the Freestyle 2.2 class with his “Crash Test Dummy” truck that used the following goodies:

  • 2020 Ford Raptor Body
  • Midwest 2.2″ MT wheels
  • Renegades Jr 2.2 tires

Moving to southern Cali we check in on the team who competed at Round 3 of 2022 JBRL Electric Series hosted by SDRC Raceway in San Diego. Starting with JConcepts driver Chase Raymond he let us know that he finished 3rd overall in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy while rolling on sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires, a F2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing! Joining him on the podium in 1st place was his teammate Doug Lariviere!

JC driver Jeff Guest took the TQ and win in the 40+ 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Team driver Matt Barksdale competed in three separate classes. He finished 6th overall in 13.5 Stadium Truck, and took two wins in the Sportsman 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! All vehicles used sanded Silver compound Ellipse tires with Dirt Tech inserts.

Now, let’s get a few updates from our international team starting with Australian driver Ray Munday. He recently traveled to the desert town of Mildura for Mallee Madness 14 which is part of the Victorian drivers series.

He finished 2nd overall in Mod 2wd Buggy while using Green compound Ellipses, Mono wheels, and a B6.3 Front Wing!

Staying in Australia our final report comes to us courtesy of team driver Jordan Isergin. He also competed at this event and finished 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and took the TQ and W in Mod wheeler! He used a mix of Green and Black compound Ellipses on both cars along with a F2 body and an Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing.
