Race Team Update – August 2022 Week #1

A new month has started but it’s the same old story as the JConcepts race team continues to dominate out on the track! Read all about it in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out at the 2022 Solid Axle Showdown that took place this past weekend in Colonial Heights, VA. The event was located at the Keystone Antique Truck & Tractor Museum and team driver Matt Stoltz competed at this race in two different classes. In the Ultra Mod class he took the win with his truck nicknamed “Sticker Shock” that was decked out with the following gear!

  • 2005 Ford F-250 Super Duty MT Body
  • Gold compound Renegades Monster Truck Tires
  • Tribute – 2.6 x 3.6″ Monster Truck Wheels

He also snagged a TQ and win in the Mega Truck class with his Power Fist Tools truck while rocking the following JC goods!

  • Dragon – 2.6″ Mega Truck Wheels
  • Rubber Bump Stops

Now we make our way south to Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama, NC for our next update. Team driver Josh Parrish recently competed there in the NC Challenge Series. He would just miss out on the final podium spot in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while running on Blue compound Detox tires in A1 before he switched over A2 compound Reflex tires in A2! He also used Bullet wheels and a S15 shell.

Sending it southeast into Georgia let’s meet up with team driver Cade Burnette for our next report. He recently traveled to The Barn RC Raceway in Barnsville since they were the host to Round 1 of the GORCS (Georgia Off-Road Championship Series) that brought in 115 entries! He competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes and TQed all rounds of qualifying! He then went on to take the W in both classes while using A2 compound Detox tires, a S15 body and a F2I wing on his e buggy, while his nitro ride used A3 compound Detox tires plus the same body and wing package!

Jumping the state line let’s now head over to the Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club (RC3) in Huntsville, AL for our next team update. This past weekend RC3 held their 13th Annual Rocket City Challenge which saw nearly 150 entries! Unfortunately, after no rain for weeks mother nature decided to let one loose so after one round of qualifying the race had to be canceled and final results were based off the first qualifier. Team driver Chris Rakus competed in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and took home the double TQ and 1st place hardware while running on Blue compound Reflexes!

JC driver Trevor Michael also attended this event and after one round of qualifying he would just miss landing on the podium in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, but he locked up 3rd place in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class! Joining him on the podium were fellow JConcepts drivers Randy Enger (4th), Izriah Osborne (2nd) and Chris Rakus (1st)!

Speaking of Randy he also competed in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would secure the TQ and win after one round of qualifying while using A2 compound Stalkers and a F2I wing!

Team driver Jerrid Wright also competed at this race and finished 18th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 3rd in Mod 2wd SCT! His e buggy ran Blue compound Reflex tires and a S15 shell while his SCT used a HF2 lid, Green compound Sprinters and 9-Shot rims.

Now let’s shoot over to Texas for a few updates from the team competing at different tracks throughout the large state. Starting at Mikes Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter we check in with JC driver Brian Germany who recently raced at Round 6 of the All Star Dirt Oval Series that was held there over the weekend. He competed in the 10.5 Wing Sprint class and would lock up 2nd overall while using ReHabs in the front with Sprinters in the rear!

Our next stop in Texas is in the city of Garland where Indy RC World is located. Our driver Edwin Ortiz recently visited this track to compete in the most recent round of the RC Pro Series in two different classes. He would finish 5th overall in the Open 2wd SCT class while using Green compound Double Dees V1, and in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro class he would finish in 2nd place while using Blue compound Detox tires and a S15 shell!

Heading north let’s stop in the “Show-Me State” for a few updates from the team competing at various tracks this past weekend. Our first update is from the Chicken Dinner Raceway in Neosho which recently held Round 4 of the In The Dirt series. Team driver Braxten Culley competed in both the Expert 1/8 Electric and Nitro buggy classes and would come away with a TQ and win in both! He used Blue compound Reflex tires on both of his winning cars.

Also competing at this recent round was his teammate Matthew Pyle in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He would finish 3rd overall in e buggy and set the TQ and take the win in e truggy! Both of his cars used Blue compound Reflex tires.

Our next report comes to us courtesy of team driver Adam Kasch who competed at Round 4 of the Fastlane Raceway Off-Road Series in Blue Springs. He raced in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes and finished 2nd overall in e buggy and took the TQ and W in e truggy! His winning truck used Aqua compound Triple Dees while his buggy used both Blue and Green compound Reflex tires as the track temps changed throughout the day.

Leaping over to the “Land Of Lincoln” our next tour stop is at Dream Fields Raceway in the city of Waterloo for Round 3 of Trigger King RC’s Summer Series. Team driver Jeremy Mark competed in two classes at this event and made the finals and finished 2nd overall in the Retro class with his Taurus 2 replica truck decked out with the following gear!

Also competing at this recent round was JC teammate Doug Welker in the Sport Modified class. He would take the win while using a 1988 Chevy Silverado “Snoop Nose” MT body, Blue compound Renegades tires, Tribute wheels and a Silent Speed 17T Adjustable Timing Competition Motor!

JConcepts driver Chris Parrish also competed at this recent round in two different classes and took bracket wins in all of them using three different trucks!

  • Bearfoot Racer – Won Retro bracket 2 + the overall for the day while using a 1988 Chevy Silverado Monster Truck Body, a Regulator chassis conversion kit, dual Regulator Servo Mount Kit (BAS) 1 Sets, an 18mm Aluminum, 25T Clamping Servo Horn, Golden Years tires and Tribute wheels
  • Master of Disaster – Won Retro bracket 1 while using a 1988 Chevy Silverado Monster Truck Body, a Regulator chassis conversion kit, dual Regulator Servo Mount Kit (BAS) 1 Sets, an 18mm Aluminum, 25T Clamping Servo Horn, Golden Years tires, Tribute wheels and dual Silent Speed 27T Brushed Fixed End Bell Competition Motors
  • Equalizer – Won LMT bracket 2 while using a 1988 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab Body, Renegades tires, Tribute wheels, a 20mm Aluminum 25T Clamping Servo Horn and a Racerback

His JC mate Josh Rhodes also picked up some bracket wins at this event while using the following gear in his trucks!

  • Team Losi Racing Grave Digger LMT – JCI Mortician Body, Blue compound Renegades and Tribute wheels

Going back to the northwest we stop in at Leighton Speedway in Leighton, IA for this quick update from team driver David Fast. Over the weekend he competed at this dirt oval track for their Leighton Nationals and just missed out bumping into the A Main for the 410 Sprint class while using both Sprinters and Ellipses!

Heading further north let’s now check in with team driver Ryan Derenne. He recently competed at Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken, WI for the 5th round of their Summer Series. He just missed out bumping into the A Main in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class while using Green compound Reflex tires glued to Bullet rims! In the Stadium Truck class he qualified 2nd overall for the A Main and would race on to finish 3rd for the day while using Green compound Carvers up front, Green compound Sprinters in the rear and topped off with a Finnisher body!

Heading out west our next tour stop is at Cabinet Mountain RC Raceway in Libby, MT. They recently held their Hot August Showdown trophy race and team driver Carl Vucinich finished 4th in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class while using the following gear!

  • F2 truck body
  • F2I wing
  • Green compound Reflex tires
  • Bullet wheels
  • RM2 MBX8-T Carbon Fiber Drivetrain Rock Guard

And joining him on the podium were fellow JC drivers Brenden Bartlett (1st), Ronda Drake (2nd), MCcoy Starkey (3rd) and Robert Bartlett (5th) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

Heading even further west we make our way to sunny California for this update by team driver Jeremy Bunting. He just finished competing at the Nor Cal RC Monster Truck Showdown that was held at AMain Silver Dollar RC Raceway in Chico, and he made the finals in the racing bracket and took the W in the freestyle competition!

His “Bad Company” replica used a 2014 Chevy 1500 MT Single Cab body, Blue compound Renegade tires, Tribute wheels and Tribute | Aggressor Wheel Mock Beadlock Rings.

Our final report comes to us courtesy of team driver Steve Seguin. This past weekend he competed at Round 3 of the 2022 Quebec RC Series located in Saguenay, QC, Canada. He competed in both the 1/8 Electric Truggy and Buggy classes and would finish 4th in e truggy and 2nd in e buggy! His truggy used Green compound Reflexes while his buggy used Kosmos tires in the same compound. And joining him on the e buggy podium in 1st place was his teammate Brian Ross!
