In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Maryland team driver, Layton Miskolczi!
1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?
I got into RC when I was 5 because my dad used to race RC and I thought it would be cool to try. I mainly run 1/10 off-road 4wd buggy and compete in both novice and pro divisions.
2. What is your biggest win to date and why?
My biggest win was the Dash For Cash race at Shaffer’s Full Steam Ahead Hobbies, because not only did I top qualify and win first place, but I also got to do a tire toss and compete in a hooligan race.
3. What is one tip you have for new drivers getting into RC racing that you would like to share?
Depending on the track you’re at you might need to use different types of tires or do different things to the tires. For example, if it’s a high grip track you might need to use tire sauce or if it’s a low grip track you might need to go to softer compounds or change the foam inserts.
4. To date what is your favorite JConcepts product of all time and why?
My favorite JConcepts product is the Ellipse tire because its the most useful at a lot of tracks that I race.
5. Besides RC cars, what other hobbies are you into?
I’m into to basketball, like to play video games and build Legos.
