The JConcepts race team put in more work over the Labor Day weekend as they continued to compete at various events. See where we were winning at in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report out east in the state of Pennsylvania. There were a few different events taking place in this state so let’s head to the city of Easton where Trains and Lanes Hobbies is located for our first report. Team driver Aydan Manchanda competed there recently for their 2022 TNL 500 event that saw over 100 entries. He competed in three different classes and made the podium in all of them!
- 1/8 Electric Truggy = TQ and win while racing on Blue compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = TQ and 2nd place while racing on Blue compound Stalkers, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing
- 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 2nd place while racing on Aqua compound Stalkers, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing
His brother Dylan also competed at this event in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. In nitro buggy he TQed round 1 of qualifying, but then ran into some mechanical glitches and settled for 14th overall. Until that point he was running hard on Aqua compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing! In the e buggy class he won the B Main to bump up into the A and finished 5th overall! For that car he used Blue compound Stalkers, Bullet wheels and a F2I wing.
Now we pivot to WOCRC Raceway in New Florence and get our next report from team driver Matt Adams. He recently raced there at the Pennsylvania State Championships in 4 different classes with great results!
- Mod 2wd Buggy = TQ and finished 2nd on Green compound Dirt Webs up front, Black compound Ellipses in the rear, Mono wheels, a F2 body and a Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
- Mod 4wd Buggy = Finished 2nd on Green compound Dirt Webs on all four corners, Mono wheels and a Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
- Mod Stadium Truck = Finished 2nd on Black compound Ellipses, Mono wheels and a F2 body
- Mod 2wd Short Course Truck = Finished 4th on Green compound Ellipses, Hazard wheels, a Hi-Flow body and a Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
Sending it south we stop in at The Tiltyard in Dayton, VA. This past weekend they held a special Sherri Woodyard Memorial Race and let’s see how the team performed starting with JC driver Javon Mallory. He competed in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and finished 5th in nitro buggy and 4th in e buggy! He used Blue compound ReHabs for the start of qualifying before switching over to Blue compound Reflex tires for the rest of qualifying and the mains. He also utilized our Bullet wheels and F2I wings.
Team driver Rusty Mihelich had the entire family out for this special race event. He would finish 8th in 1/8 Electric buggy and finished 4th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy! Mylee Mihelich finished 9th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and fourth in 1/8 Electric Buggy! Stacey Mihelich finished 7th in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and Maddy Long finished 7th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 5th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and took the W in 1/8 Nitro Truggy! Helping with the win were Green compound Reflexes and Bullet rims.
Continuing down the coastline let’s now move to Mobile Hobbies in Shelby, NC for our next update. Recently team driver Ennis Graves went club racing there and finished 2nd overall in 1/8 Nitro Buggy while rolling on Green compound Triple Dees and Stalkers along with a S15 shell!
Racing over to the Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club (RC3) in Huntsville, AL let catch up with JConcepts driver Randy Enger for our next update. On Friday he competed at RC3 in 1/8 Electric Buggy and Mod 4wd Buggy. He doubled down with a TQ and win in both classes while using Blue compound Rehabs and a S2 shell on his wheeler, while his e buggy used Blue compound Stalkers! Joining him on the mod wheeler podium in 3rd place was fellow JConcepts driver Danny Stockman!
Then on Saturday he traveled to Warehouse Hobbies in Helena to compete there and set the TQ and finished 2nd in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while using A3 compound Detox tires!
We now head over to Shaws RC Track in Ardmore, OK for some updates from the team competing at a RC Pro Series event that was recently held there. Team driver Randy Lathrop reports that he finished 3rd in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and 1st in Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy!
Teammate Jen Lathrop finished 3rd in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 2nd overall in Expert 1/8 Nitro Truggy! They both ran Blue compound Triple Dees for qualifying before switching over to the Green compound for the mains. They also both used S15 buggy bodies and F2 truck lids on their vehicles.
Heading north we stop in at Hobby Haven in Urbandale, IA for our next report. JConcepts driver Mike Sanders recently competed their for their “Wednesday Night Worlds” in the 21.5 Street Stock and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes.
He would set the TQ in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and go on to take the W in both classes! His buggy used Green compound Sprinters and Rips tires.
Heading further north let’s visit MMR3 in Minneapolis, MN and catch up with team driver Thor Ott. He recently competed there for some club racing and took the win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class while using a F2 body, Fuzz Bite tires, Mono wheels and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing!
Our final pit stop is in the “Buckeye State” for a few reports from the team competing at different tracks. Starting with team driver Curtis May he reported that he recently raced at EN Hobbies in Columbus and finished 2nd overall in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He used Fuzz Bites on his car and joining him on the podium in 1st place was teammate Brandon Marsh!
Our final stop is at DJO RC Raceway in the city of Wapakoneta. Team driver Nathan Clark recently raced there and set the TQ and took home the victory in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class at their cash race event!
