The votes are in and it was another great weekend of racing for the JConcepts race team! It didn’t matter if the states were red or blue, it just more wins for the JC crew which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report out at Tacoma RC Raceway in Tacoma, WA. This past weekend they were host to Round 1 of the NIS (Northwest Indoor Series) which featured 154 entries! Team driver Austin Cracknell competed in both Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy and came away with a win in Mod 2wd along with a TQ and win in Mod wheeler! His winning rides used F2 bodies, Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings and Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires stuffed with RM2 2.2″ Hard Inserts.
Next, we fly east and land at Trackside Hobbies & Raceway in Brookfield, WI. This past weekend they hosted the 2022 Team Associated Off-Road Championships which saw over 300 entries! We had many drivers in attendance so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver Ryan Derenne.
He reports that he competed in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class and finished 8th in the C Main while running smooth on Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires and a Finnisher body! He also competed in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class and would lock up 6th place in the C Main while using Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires and a P2 lid!
Team driver Javon Mallory reports that he finished 3rd overall in the 17.5 2wd Buggy C Main and 7th in the 13.5 4wd Buggy D Main! His bugs used the following gear:
- Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires
- Mono wheels
- S2 bodies
- 3.5 x 46mm Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
- B6.3 Fin Titanium Front Axle
His tire teammate Tyler O’Brien competed in two classes at this race. In the 13.5 Stadium Truck class he locked up the final podium spot while racing with a F2 lid and Mono wheels! In the 17.5 2wd Short Course Truck class he would take the win while using a Hi-Flow body and Hazard wheels!
JC driver Richie Peters was also at this event and competed in 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy. In the stock class he would finish 7th overall after the AAA Mains! In the Mod class he would just miss out on the bump spot in the C Main, and both vehicles used sanded down Silver compound Dirt Webs up front with Ellipses in the rear along with a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing and F2 lids!
Now let’s head down to Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend was the opening round of their Winter Series which saw over 190 entries!
JC driver Brandon Kearney competed in three different classes and finished 10th in 1/8 Electric Truggy, 7th in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and 2nd place in 1/8 Nitro Truggy! His rides were running fast all weekend while using the following JC goodies:
- F2 bodies
- S15 body
- Bullet wheels
- Gold compound Ellipse tires
- F2I wings
Also competing for the team this past weekend was driver Adam Kasch in both the 1/8 Electric Truggy and Buggy classes. In e buggy he wasn’t able to bump into the A main group, but in e truggy he made the A main and finished in 9th place! Both rides used Gold compound Ellipse tires and his truggy used a F2 truck body while his buggy used a S15 shell.
Team driver Mason Herrick competed in both the Expert 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes. He finished 3rd in both classes while using Gold compound Ellipses mounted to Bullet wheels along with F2I wings and a S15 lid on his nitro ride! Joining him on the e buggy podium in 1st place was fellow JC driver Mason Fuller!
Team driver David Fast raced in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and Mini Truggy classes. He would finish the day in 10th place in the B Main for e buggy and locked up the final podium spot in the Mini Truggy class! Both of his cars used Gold compound Ellipses and his mini truggy also used Mono wheels and a Finnisher lid.
JC pilot Bradley Peterson competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and after the racing had completed for the day he would end up 6th overall while running fast on Gold compound Ellipses and Bullet wheels!
Crossing the border into Kansas let’s see how the team finished at a few RC events happening through the state this past weekend.
Starting with Onion Creek RC in Coffeyville team driver Tony Leatherman let us know that he finished 5th overall in the 410 Sprint class while using Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires on all four corners plus RM2 2.2″ Hard Inserts!
Also competing at this track recently was fellow JC driver Brian Stanton in the same class. Brian would finish 3rd for the day while running fast on Silver compound Ellipses!
Staying in state we now head to the city of Topeka where Ultraline Hobbies is located. Unfortunately this was their final event at this location since they need to relocate and a suitable building hasn’t been found yet.
Team driver David Peavler made his way down to the final race at their current location, and he made sure to go out with a bang as he finished 3rd in both the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes plus he took 2nd place in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy! All of his bugs used Fuzz Bite tires mounted to Mono rims.
Next, we shoot down to Indy RC World in Garland, TX for our next team update. This past weekend they hosted the finals for the RC Pro Series which saw over 100 entries! Team driver Kevin Mcnatt qualified 2nd overall for the A Main in the SC Mod class, but unfortunately he ran into a mechanical issue in the final race which dropped him back to 5th place. He was running fast up to that point at this event while using Green compound Ellipses bolted to 9-Shot wheels!
His teammate Robert Chapman also attended the finals to thrown down some left turn laps in both the Midwest Mod and Outlaw Sprint classes. He would TQ both classes and go on to finish 7th in Outlaw and 1st place in Midwest Mod! After the series points were added up he would also finish 2nd in Outlaw Sprint and 1st place in Midwest Mod! For the finals both vehicles used Silver compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses along with RM2 2.2″ Hard Inserts. Joining him on the Midwest Mod season points podium was fellow team driver Kevin Lenderman!
Our next stop is in sunny Florida at Sundancers RC Raceway in Port Saint Lucie. This past weekend they hosted Round 3 of Emerge Series and JC driver Joshua Vicidomini competed in both the 4wd SCT and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. He would go on to finish 7th in the 4wd SCT class and lock down the final podium spot in 17.5 buggy! His buggy was running smooth that day while using Green compound Sprinters, Mono wheels, a P2 body in the lightweight option and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.
Heading up the coastline we stop in at World of R/C Parts & Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama, NC. They recently held the second round of their Super Seven Series and team driver Dave McEwen competed in both Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy. He would finish 2nd in Mod 4wd and took the TQ and W in Mod 2wd! His bugs used the following JConcepts gear:
- Green compound Octagons
- Mono wheels
- F2 body
- S2 body
- Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing
- Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing
- Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
Taking the TQ and win in the Mod 4wd Buggy class was his fellow JC driver Luis Diego! In his victory he used Silver compound Ellipses in the front and rear.
Crossing into Virginia we head to the city of Fredericksburg where Power Line RC is located. This past weekend they held their Wild TurkE event so let’s see how the team finished up. Starting with team driver Brian Miskolczi he reports that he took the TQ and win in the Mod 4wd Buggy class! His son Layton finished 3rd in this class and also set the TQ and finished 1st in the Novice class! All of their cars used Green compound Sprinters, F2 lids, Mono wheels and Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wings.
Team driver Rusty Mihelich was also at this event and he let us know that he set the TQ but had to retire early in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class. However, he had better luck in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class as he qualified 2nd and went on to take the W! His better half Stacey Mihelich finished 5th in the B Main for 1/8 Electric Truggy and took the TQ and win in the Sportsman 1/8 Electric Buggy class! All of their vehicles ran on Green compound Reflex tires and Bullet wheels.
Now let’s get some updates from our International team starting with Australian driver Aaron Dexter. He recently competed in the West Australian Challenge Cup Series and took the TQ and win while using Green compound Reflexes and Blue compound Stalkers!
Team driver Clément Boda recently competed at a Halloween event held in Germany in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. For the event he would lock up 3rd overall in both classes while using F2 shells, Mono wheels and Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Sets!
Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Daemon Holon. He recently competed at the first carpet off-road event held at Bego Racing in Saint-Blais, Quebec, Canada. He would set the TQ in Stadium truck but suffer a DNF in the finals, took 2nd place in 4wd Buggy and set the TQ and took home the win in the 2wd Buggy class! All of his cars used Silver compound Ellipses tires and a F2 body.
