Race Team Update – December 2022 Week #3

With one weekend left before Christmas the JConcepts race team continued to jingle all the way to the top of the podium at many tracks across the nation! Read about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report in Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they held another round of their Off-Road Carpet Series that saw nearly 100 entries! Team driver Ethan Delair competed in the Mod 2wd Buggy class and finished with a TQ and 2nd place finish while using Twin Pins in the back, Swaggers in the front, a S2 shell, a Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing!

Also competing for the team in this same class was team driver Drew Rubenking. He would best Ethan in the A Main to take the W while using Fuzz Bites on all four corners, plus a S2 lid, Mono wheels and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing!

JC driver David Peavler competed in three different classes at this round. He would finish 6th in Mod 2wd Buggy and lock up 4th place in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! All of his rides used Fuzz Bite tires, Mono wheels, a B6.3|B6.4 Servo Mount Brace and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.

Staying at the Plex let’s get a mini update from team driver Emerson Sturgeon. He recently competed in the Mini 2wd and 4wd Mod classes for the finals of their Mini Maniacs event. He finished 2nd in 2wd and took the win in the 4wd class! Both mini cars used Twin Pins and Swaggers rubber.

Heading north let’s stop in at 510 Raceway in Foley, MN for our next update. This past weekend they held their Holiday Hustle 2022 trophy race and team driver Kyle Holmberg was in attendance. He competed in two classes and set the TQ and took the wins in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! Both cars used Silver compound Ellipse tires plus a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing, along with a S2 lid on the 4wd car and a F2 shell for the 2wd ride. Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was team driver James Dolan!

His tire teammate Joe Scaramell also raced in two classes at this event. He would finish 5th in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 4th overall in the Slick Tire 2wd Buggy class! He also finished 3rd in the Slick Tire 2wd Buggy class at Round 3 of their points series! In the 17.5 class he used Silver compound Ellipse tires, while in the Slick class he opted for our Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires.

Crossing the border to the east we find ourselves at Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken, WI. They recently held the 9th round of their Fall Points series and JC pilot Ryan Derenne entered in two different classes.

In the 40+ Super Stock Class he would finish 4th for the round while using Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires, a P2 body and a Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing! In the Mod Stadium Truck class he finished 4th overall while rolling on Green compound Octagons and a Finnisher body!

We now send it south to the “Show-Me State” for our next team update. This past weekend Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs held Round 3 of their Saturday Off-Road Series so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver David Alberico. He would set the TQ and take the win while using sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires!

Also competing at this most recent round was fellow JConcepts driver Orlando Martinez. He competed in two classes and finished 3rd in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 2nd place in 13.5 wheeler! Both bugs were equipped with Silver compound Ellipse tires, Mono wheels, F2 bodies and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.

Dribbling over to the “Hoosier State” we get our next update from team driver Justin Green. This past weekend he attended the Christmas Clash Race held at Bill’s RC Hobby Shop in the city of Marion. He raced in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes and locked up the win in both plus a TQ in the 13.5 class! Both vehicles used S2 shells, Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires, Mono rims, RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd | 4wd Front Inserts, a 3.5mm Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.

Now let’s rock out and head south to ROCCK Racing located in Knoxville, TN. Team driver Jonah Wilson recently visited this track to compete in Round 1 of the ETRC Series that took place there. He would set the TQ and take the wins in both the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes! His nitro car used Silver compound Ellipses while his e buggy used the same tire in the Gold compound. They also both used S15 shells and Razor rear wings, and joining him on the nitro buggy podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Coty Ingram!

Crossing the stateline into Mississippi, let’s now catch up with team driver William Ables. This past weekend he went to the city of Magee where Saratoga-Flowood RC Raceway is located so he could sign up for their 1st Annual Mississippi RC Pro-Am. He raced in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes and doubled down with wins in both! His winning e truggy used Green compound Reflex tires while his e buggy used Green compound Stalkers.

Let’s head to the coast and get a few updates from the team competing at different tracks in South Carolina. Starting with JC pilot David Olsen he recently visited Sumter RC Raceway in Sumter to enter into their Racer Appreciation Race that brought in nearly 100 entries! He would set the TQ and take the W in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class while running fast on Silver compound ReHabs, a S15 body and Razor rear wing!

Heading to Beach RC in Myrtle Beach let’s get a quick update from team driver Dave McEwen. He visited this facility to throw down some laps in their Jingle Bell Jam event. With the donation of a new toy or coat your first entry was covered, and all of the remaining entry fees collected was then used by the track owner to buy more toys for a local children’s charity! Dave signed up for four classes and put in great results as he made the podium in all of them!

  • Mini Truggy = 3rd place while running on Silver compound Smoothie 2 LP tires glued to Mono wheels and a Finnisher body
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = 2nd place while running on Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires, a S2 shell, Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and a 3.5mm Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set

Crossing over into Nouth Carolina we now make our way to Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama to get our next report from team drivers Maddy Long and Rusty Mihelich. They both raced in Thunder Alley’s 15th Annual Christmas Race and Maddy reported that she finished 2nd overall in both the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes! Rusty also competed in two classes and finished 11th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and 5th in nitro buggy! Both drivers were running fast on our Green compound Detox tires mounted to Bullet wheels.

Continuing north we stop in at Adrenaline RC Raceway in Winchester, VA to get this update from team driver Javon Mallory. He competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class at their Point Series finals over the weekend, and he would finish 4th overall while using the following JC gear!

  • Silver compound Ellipse tires
  • S15 lid
  • Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
  • Razor rear wing

Heading full steam ahead we pull into the town of Easton, PA where Trains n Lanes is located. This past weekend they held a special memorial event which brought in nearly 100 entries to raise $851 for a local racer’s family!

Team driver Aydan Manchanda entered into this event and raced in two classes. He would set the TQ and take the wins in both the 13.5 and Mod 4wd Buggy classes while using Swaggers in the front with Nessi tires in the rear!

His brother Dylan Manchanda also raced in two separate classes. He would lock up the final podium spot in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 2nd place in Mod 4wd Buggy! Both of his bugs also used Swaggers in the front with Nessi tires in the rear.

Heading east we stop in at RC Madness in Enfield, CT for our next report. Team driver Tom Bishop just wrapped up competing in their 10 week long Point Series and he would finish on top of the podium in the competitive 17.5 2wd Buggy class! For the series he used our Fuzz Bite tires in the front, Nessi tires in the rear, Mono wheels, a S2 shell and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing.

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver John Cravotta. He recently competed in the HoHoHo Race held at Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME. He would go on to finish 3rd in 17.5 2wd Buggy and also a TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class! Both cars used Fuzz Bites all the way around along with S2 bodies.
