In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Michigan team driver, Michael Ciresi!
1. How were RC car races originally brought to your attention? How about the classes you participated in?
My first experience with real RC cars was at a small track by the name of JJ’s RC Speed Shop in Warren, MI way back in 1992 when I was 12 years old. My dad bought me a used Team Losi LX-T with the retro transmission, and we ran stock stadium truck with that truck for quite sometime. That’s where I met many great friends including JConcepts very own Chris “VanAir” VanRaemdonck who I reconnected with recently at the Southern Indoor Championships.
2. If you have been racing for awhile, what would you say is the number one technology advancement in RC to date and why?
It’s funny I just had a good friend ask this very same question on Facebook today. My answer is definitely 2.4 GHz transmitters. There are a lot more, but I feel like 2.4 GHz has changed the way racing events are run. Big race radio impound is a thing of the past that needs to stay there LOL.
3. Name a RC class that you would like to see increase in popularity and why?
This is a tough question to answer, but I think the big car racing is pretty cool, and I would like to see more 1/5 scale racing on a larger stage.
4. To date what is your favorite JConcepts product of all time and why?
Goose Bumps baby. Love me some old school farm dirt berm bashing rooster tail racing.
5. What other hobbies are you into besides RC cars?
My family and I love Camping. Well RVing or glamping if you will. Now our RV serves as a place for the family to get away in as well as race central when we attend races.
