JConcepts Wins At The 28th Annual Rumble In The Rockies

Last weekend the 28th Annual Rumble In The Rockies took place at MHOR RC Raceway in Aurora, CO.

MHOR (Mile High Off Road) RC Raceway is the longest running indoor track here in the US, and they have been running for 36 years at their original location.

So when it comes to putting on a great weekend event they have plenty of experience, and this year’s race was no exception.

The race format called for practice on Friday from noon to 5:30pm, followed by the first round of qualifying at 6pm.

On Saturday the doors opened again at 8am with some open practice followed by three more rounds of qualifying.

In total there were four rounds of qualifying, but only a driver’s best two rounds were used for determining who was the top qualifier in each class.

The top eight cars were locked into the mains based on qualifying results with no bump ups, and all classes ran AAA Mains except for the Novice class. On Sunday the doors opened again at 8am with the start of the lower mains at 9am.

There were 10 classes to compete in and the race brought in 246 entries. There were 34 heats per round and all qualifiers and AAA Mains ran for five minutes each, while the Novice single A main ran for 6 minutes. Let’s check in with the team to see how they finished up starting with the premiere class, Mod 2wd Buggy.

Team Associated/JConcepts driver Dustin Evans led the way for the team as he TQed three out of the four rounds of qualifying! In the mains he would take the win in A1 and A2 to capture his first title of the weekend!

Dustin also competed in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and was locked in during qualifying as he TQed all four rounds! In the AAA mains he would once again sit out A3 as he took the win in the opening two mains!

His teammate Skyler Bergeron competed in the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. These were the two largest classes of the weekend (46 in 13.5 4wd, 47 in 17.5 2wd) and after all four rounds of qualifying were in the books he would sit 2nd overall in 17.5 2wd and 1st place in 13.5 4wd!

In the 13.5 4wd AAA mains he would get off to a rough start, but bounced back to finish in 2nd place overall! In the 17.5 2wd AAA mains he would have some better luck, and after some close finishes he would stand on top of the podium in first place!

That wraps up another successful event at MHOR RC Raceway, and we can’t wait to see this event again next year!
