Race Team Update – January 2023 Week #4

The temps stay cold outside but the JConcepts team continues to heat things up out on the track! Read about our winning ways in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down at Indy RC World in Garland, TX. This track hosted the JConcepts Winter Dirt Oval Nationals this past weekend, and the event pulled in nearly 150 entries!

Let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. He competed in 2 classes and at the end of the event he would finish 7th in the 10.5 Sprint class and 5th in 13.5 Street Stock!

JConcepts driver Tyler Keel was also in attendance and he would lock up 5th overall in the Mod Sprint class!

JC driver Kevin Mcnatt competed in the SC Mod class, and he would TQ this class and finish 2nd overall!

Team driver Jordan Hefler also competed in the SC Mod class and would sneak by Kevin for the win, plus he finished 4th in Midwest Mod, and he also locked up 3rd place in the Outlaw Sprint and Late Model classes! Joining Jordan and Kevin on the SC Mod podium was fellow JConcepts driver Randy Lathrop to complete the JC podium sweep!

Their teammate Dillon Bontrager competed in the 10.5 Sprint class at this event. He would take the win in the Friday night club race, and on Saturday he would TQ this class and finish 2nd overall!

Team driver Kevin Lenderman competed in the SC Mod and Wingless Sprint classes. He would start 3rd overall in both classes for the mains and secure a 4th place finish in both of them too!

JC driver Nathan Dean competed in three separate classes at this race. He would lock up 4th place in Mod Sprint, 2nd place in Late Model and took the win in the Midwest Mod class!

Staying in Texas let’s now head to Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter to see how the team finished up at Round 1 of the HARC (Houston Area RC) series. Starting with team driver Brian Henn he reported that he finished 5th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and took the TQ and W in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class!

His tire teammate Dillon Caldwell competed in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and took the win for the round! Joining him on the podium were teammates Reggie Tongue (2nd), Robbie Darby (4th) and Mark Morrow (5th)!

Also competing at this round was JConcepts driver Todd Geary. He would flame out in the Open 1/8 Nitro Buggy class to finish the day with a DNF, but over in the Open 1/8 Electric Buggy class he had better luck as he finished in 5th place!

Now let’s head over to Dean’s All Out RC in Apopka, FL for the opening round of the Florida RC Championships. This round brought out 268 entries so let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Erik Everett.

He reports that he locked up 3rd place overall in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

JConcepts driver Dave Duncan also competed in this class and finished in 2nd place!

JC driver Trent Walker competed in two classes at this opening round. In the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would finish 2nd overall, and in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he secured 3rd place! Joining him on the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy podium were teammates JR Mitch (3rd) and Julien Oliveras (1st)!

Team driver Tony Rivas competed in the Open 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would finish 4th overall!

His fellow tire teammate Patrick Rossiter Jr. competed in two classes at this race. In the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would finish in 7th place, and in the Open 1/8 Electric Truggy class he would set the TQ and take the victory! Joining him on the truggy podium was fellow team driver Carlos Gonzalez in 3rd place!

JConcepts driver Joshua Vicidomini also ran in two classes at this recent round. In the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he would miss out on the transfer spot to the A Main, but in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Truggy class he would start in 6th place and finish up in 2nd overall!

Moving up the coast let’s head to Red Brush RC in Mount Airy, NC.

They recently held their January Trophy Race and team driver Josh Parrish finished 2nd in Pro 17.5 2wd Buggy and took the win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Crossing the stateline we stop in at Adrenaline RC Raceway in Winchester, VA for our next update. This track hosted the USRC Series Opener this past weekend which saw 169 entries! Team driver Javon Mallory was in attendance and raced in three classes. He would wrap up the event by finishing 7th in 1/8 Electric Buggy, a TQ and 3rd place in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and took the W in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class!

Also competing at this race was Rusty Mihelich and the family. Starting with Rusty he would finish 3rd in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus took the win in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Maddy Long competed in two classes at this race. She would just miss the bump spot for the open 1/8 Electric Buggy class, and she finished 5th overall in 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Stacey Mihelich also competed in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy, but wasn’t quite able to bump up the A Mains while running fast all weekend long!

Our next update comes to us from team driver Matthew Sousa. Recently he went to RC KARcZ Racing in East Providence, RI to compete in their Winter Karpet Klash trophy event. He competed in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, and locked up the top qualifying position in both! After the mains were ran he would finish 2nd in 17.5 2wd and took the win in 13.5 4wd!

Flying back west let’s stop in at Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken, WI to see how the team finished up at the 2nd round of their points series.

Starting with team driver Ryan Derenne he let us know that he finished 3rd in the Mod Stadium Truck class and also set the TQ and finished 2nd in 40+ 2wd Buggy!

Also competing at this round was his teammate Richie Peters in the 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes, and he would double down in both classes with two TQs and wins!

Crossing over into Minnesota let’s head to the city of Foley where 510 Raceway is located. They just held a series event over the weekend and team driver Joe Scaramell competed in both the Treaded and Slick 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. He would finish 3rd in the treaded class plus set the TQ and took the win in the slick class!

Now let’s head down to Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they held the opening round of their Triple Scoop Series and team driver Riley Filbert let us know that he set the TQ and took the win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class!

Also competing at this event was fellow JC driver David Peavler. He raced in two classes and finished 3rd in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and locked up 2nd place in the 13.5 wheeler class!

Staying in the state let’s get this quick update from team driver Will Brinton. This past weekend he went to Jensen RC Raceway in Aurora to throw down some left turn laps in the Open 410 Sprint class.

He would set the TQ for the day and go on to take the win!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Levi Raymond. This past weekend was Round 1 of the Supercross Series at SDRC Raceway in San Diego, CA which brought in 131 entries! He competed in the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes and took the wins in both!
