Inside Look: Dakotah Phend’s Winning INS13 4wd Buggy

It’s undeniable that Dakotah Phend has been on an incredible winning streak these days, no matter the class! He’s truly an exceptionally talented driver.  Recently, at the INS13 kick-off at SDRC Raceway, we had the pleasure of getting the low down on the latest with Phend’s 4wd Modified Buggy. Today, we’re taking you under the hood for an inside look!

As usual, we’ll begin with the exterior of the car before diving into all the fine details! Phend chose to go with the JConcepts F2 Body. Bradley Fine Line Designs did a phenomenal job with the paint scheme, and his attention to detail is exquisite! Moving towards the back of the vehicle, Phend is sporting the JConcepts Pre-trimmed 7″in Carpet|Dirt|Astro Wing. You may notice Phend adds one big hole on each side of the wing. This is to allow the car to rotate in tighter turns, while still maintaining the stability of the 7″in wing.  Finally, we want to draw attention to the wheels and tires. SDRC Raceway calls for a pretty standard tire setup. The one thing drivers tend to experiment with most within 1/10 is the RM2 Hard Inserts vs. the Dirt-Tech Inserts. This weekend, Phend ran Silver JConcepts Smoothie 2sDirt-Tech Inserts, and Mono Wheels!

Diving straight under the hood, we’re going over all the details you want to know! Going from front to back, we have the Spektrum S6245 Servo with the traditional my laps transponder mounted on top. Parallel to that, Phend is running the Pro Performance RC XSC150P ESC. Next, we’ll talk about the beast that’s powering this buggy. Phend has his own series of motors with Team Trinity, known as the “Phenom Series X-Factor” Motors. In this case, he is running the 6.0 turn motor. The other stand-out piece in his electronic arsenal is the Trinity White Carbon LCG 120C 4100mah 2s battery. Lastly, you know Phend runs a Spektrum radio, so naturally, he’s running the SR2100 receiver. If you look closely, you may even notice the JConcepts Titanium Screws coming soon for TLR vehicles.

Rounding out this inside look, we’ve included some images of the front and rear suspension setups! A few standout accessories include the JConcepts Fin Titanium Turnbuckles in stealth black and the brand-new JConcepts Titanium Screw set (Coming Soon). We hope you enjoyed this inside look at Dakotah Phend’s TLR 22x-4 Elite, and we look forward to bringing you more of these articles in the future!
