Race Team Update – February 2023 Week #4 & March 2023 Week #1

The last two weeks have been busy for the JConcepts race team as they continue to put in work on several tracks around the nation. Read about our winning ways in this special double-stuffed Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down at Dean’s All Out RC in Apopka, FL. They recently hosted a Buggyland USA race event that drew in over 200 entries! Team driver Phi-Long Nguyen competed in three Pro classes and finished 4th in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, plus took the wins in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes!

Next, let’s head north to the state of Georgia. There have been a few events taking place there the past few weeks so let’s see how the team performed starting at the Hobbytown in the city of Columbus. They recently hosted the ROAR Region 3 1/10 Electric Off-Road Championships and team driver Randy Enger competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He would qualify 3rd in each class and finish in the same position after the AAA mains!

Team driver Tom Sherman competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy and Mod Short Course Truck classes. He would finish 2nd overall in the SCT class and set the TQ and take the win in the stock buggy class!

JConcepts driver Cade Burnette also competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He would set the TQ and take the win in both!

Our next stop in the state is at Phil Hurd Raceway in the city of Savannah. They recently hosted their annual Colonel’s Winter Classic that saw 183 entries! Competing there for JConcepts was our driver Doug Dragotta, and he competed in two classes. In the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would finish a solid 4th place, and in the Mod 2wd Buggy class he would set the TQ and take the win!

His tire teammate David Olsen raced in the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would set the TQ in both classes, but unfortunately he couldn’t run his e buggy A main due to some gremlins before the start of it. However, he would bounce back in the nitro class by taking the win that day! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was his teammate Mark Moon!

Let’s cross the border into South Carolina to get our next update. Beach RC & Hobbies located in Myrtle Beach recently put on their 9th Annual Palmetto Classic which netted over 150 entries!

Team driver Jason Westfall attended this race and competed in the 40+ Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He finished 4th overall in mod wheeler and took the W in the 2wd class!

Teammate Josh Parrish competed in three classes at this race and set the TQ in all of them! He would go on to finish 4th in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 1st place in both the 13.5 4wd Buggy and 4wd Mini Truggy classes!

JConcepts driver Dave McEwen earns our coveted ‘ironman’ award this week for competing in 5 separate classes at this race! He would make the A main in all of his classes and finished 10th in Mini Truggy (DNF), set the TQ and finished 10th in 40+ 4wd Buggy (DNF) and finished 2nd overall in the Pro 17.5 2wd, 13.5 4wd and 40+ 2wd Buggy classes!

Team driver David Olsen also attended this race and set the TQ and took the win in the Mod 4wd Buggy class!

JC driver Chris Fokianos competed in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes at this event. He would finish just outside of the top 10 in the 17.5 class and 4th place in 13.5 wheeler!

Heading up the coast let’s stop in at Adrenaline RC Raceway in Winchester, VA to get this quick update from team driver Javon Mallory. He attended their recent 1/10 Electric Spring Point Series race and competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He would finish 5th overall in the 4wd class and locked up 2nd place in the 2wd class!

Our next stop is at Wreckless Hobbies in East Wareham, MA. They recently held their Mass Mayhem State Championship event and team driver Matthew Sousa competed in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes.

He set the TQ in the 13.5 and finished 1st in both classes! Joining him on the 17.5 2wd Buggy podium in 3rd place was fellow JC driver John Cravotta!

Bouncing back west let’s stop in at the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex in New Albany, IN to get our next update. They recently held Round 2 of their 1/10 Electric Winter Points Series and team driver Nick Reppen was repping it for JConcepts in 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes.

He would finish 6th place in 17.5 and locked up the final podium spot in the 13.5 class! Joining him on the 4wd podium in 1st place was teammate Brian Dunbar!

Also competing at this points race was his teammate Ben Ellis in the 17.5 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes. He would finish 10th in the buggy class and took the W in the truck class! Joining him on the truck podium were his tire teammates Justin Green (2nd) and Talon Henly (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

Now we rock out to Knoxville, TN where ROCCK Racing is located. This past weekend they held their 10th Annual Tennessee State Championships which saw 360 entries!

Team driver Bella Rogers competed in this race in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. After the AA mains were ran she would finish 6th in e buggy and 5th in e truggy!

Also competing at this race was JC pilot Jonah Wilson in three classes. He would set the TQ in all of them and finish 2nd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus take two Ws in the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes!

Also competing for the team was our driver Trevor Michael. He signed up for the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes along with Pro 1/8 Electric Truggy. After the dust had settled he would just miss out on the transfer spot to the A Main in nitro buggy, finished 4th in e buggy and finished 2nd overall in e truggy! Joining him on the e buggy podium were his teammates Joey Bourdon (1st), Jonah Wilson (2nd) and Coty Ingram (5th)!

Staying in Tennessee we get another update from Trevor as he also competed at the RC Farm in the city of Crossville recently. He competed in their 2023 Winter Championship, and doubled down with two wins in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes, plus a TQ in the buggy class!

Moving south we head to the RC Battle Ground in Winona, MS for this quick update from team driver Robert Chapman. He recently competed in their trophy event and finished 2nd in the Latemodel class and took the win in Midwest Mod!

Shooting over to Texas let’s see how the team finished up at the Round 1 of the South RC Pro Series held at Thornhill Racing Circuit in the city of Hutto.

Starting with team driver Dillon Caldwell he reported that he took the win in both the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes!

Team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. competed in the Open 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would finish 8th in nitro buggy and lock up 3rd place in the e buggy class!

JC driver Todd Geary raced in the Open 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Pro 1/8 Nitro Truggy classes. He would finish the round with a 6th place finish in truggy and 3rd overall in buggy! Joining him on the buggy podium was his tire teammate Pablo Tejada in 2nd!

Moving north we stop in at Mojo Hobby in Oklahoma City, OK. They recently hosted Round 1 of the RC Pro Series, and team driver Heath Lawson reported that he competed in the Midwest Mod class and would set the TQ and take the win!

JConcepts driver Noel Cerda let us know that he finished 4th in the Latemodel class and locked up the final podium spot in the SC Mod class!

JC driver Kevin Lenderman finished 2nd in the Wingless Sprint class and set the TQ and took the win in the SC Mod class!

Moving over to Missouri let’s stop in at the city of Sullivan which was the host of a recent Childress RC Winter Series event. Team driver Chris Parrish competed in this event which offered three classes of bracket style racing that competed in three different brackets each on three different track layouts. He competed in the Retro, Sport, and Pro classes, and he went on to win a total of 6 out of 9 brackets for the day, plus he swept the Retro class for the day, plus had at least one truck in the final pair in 8 out of 9 brackets!

Heading west we stop in at Jake’s RC Pro Am in Topeka, KS for our next report. They recently put on their 13th annual Showdown trophy race and team driver Shane Alberico let us know that he finished 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy, 2nd in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and 1st place in Mod 2wd Buggy!

Staying in Kansas let’s head to the city of Newton where RC Pitstop and Raceway is located at. They recently ran Round 4 of their Carpet War Series and team driver Mason Herrick set the TQ and took the W in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Crossing the stateline to the north we stop in at Omaha where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. Team driver David Peavler competed in their Carpet Crash In trophy event, and he finished 3rd in the Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy class and took the win in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class! Joining him on the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy podium in 2nd place was teammate Alex Sturgeon!

Staying in Nebraska let’s check in with team driver Shane Wheeler as he recently visited Jensen RC Raceway in Aurora to compete in their Battle at the Barn event. In the end he would finish 3rd in the B Main of the 410 Sprint class, 5th in the Latemodel class and took home the win in the 360 Sprint class!

Heading even further north let’s see how team driver Kyle Holmberg finished at a recent Cash Days event held at 510 Raceway in Foley, MN. He competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would double down with two TQs and Ws!

Our final report this week comes courtesy to us from JC driver Alberto Garcia. He recently raced at the 1/8th Off-Road Madrid Championship in Madrid, Spain and would lock up the final podium spot after a 45 minute long A Main!
