Race Team Update – March 2023 Week #2

Two weeks into March and the JConcepts race team shows no signs of slowing down as they continue to put in work on tracks around the world! Read about where we were winning at this past week in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out east at Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME. Team driver John Cravotta competed there for the Maine Carpet Champs event in three different classes. In the end he would finish 2nd in 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy, plus a TQ and win in Mod 2wd Buggy!

Heading over to Pennsylvania, we stop in at TR Speedway in the city of Tarentum. This past weekend they hosted the 2023 JConcepts Monster Cross event which saw over 100 entries!

Competing there for the team was our driver Matt Stoltz in the Stage 4 Monster Truck class, and he would take the TQ and W!

Also crushing the competition was JC driver Sonny Santucci. He competed in four different classes and set the TQ and took the win in the Mega and 2.2 Truck classes, plus two more 1st place finishes in the Retro and Pro Mod classes! He also earns our coveted ‘ironman’ award for the week too!

Sending it south we stop in at Leaned Out Raceway in Disputanta, VA for our next report. This past weekend they held their season opener, and team driver Rusty Mihelich reported that he finished 4th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy, and set the TQ and took victory in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! His better half Stacey would finish 7th overall in the Sportsman 1/8 Buggy class too!

Fellow team driver Maddy Long also competed in two classes at this race. She qualified 4th overall in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, but ran into some mechanical gremlins and had to retire early in the main with a DNF. She had better luck in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class as she set the TQ and crossed the finish line in 1st place! Joining her on the Pro e buggy podium in 3rd place was her teammate Javon Mallory!

Crossing the stateline let’s now go to Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC to get this quick update from team driver Dave McEwen. He recently did some club racing there and set the TQ and finished 2nd in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class, plus he took the win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class! Joining him on the 13.5 4wd Buggy podium was fellow JConcepts driver Josh Parrish!

Staying in North Carolina let’s pivot over to the Zoo City Raceway Park in the city of Asheboro for this quick report from JC driver Ken Rand Jr. The track recently held their season opener so Ken signed up in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would walk away with a TQ and win!

Heading down along the coast we make our way to the HobbyTown Columbus in Columbus, GA for our next team update. JConcepts driver Jason Westfall went there to compete in Round 2 of their points series in the Mod 2wd Buggy class where he finished 2nd overall!

Making a diagonal we next visit the city of Crossville in Tennessee where the RC Farm is located. Team driver Jonah Wilson made his way there to race at Round 4 of the ETRC (East Tennessee RC) Series which saw over 100 entries! He signed up in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, Nitro Truggy and Electric Buggy classes, and would finish the round with a TQ and win in all of them!

Now we head to FORC Raceway in Jonesboro, AR and meet up with JConcepts driver Drew Spurgeon. This past weekend he competed in their March Madness 5.0 event that saw 167 entries! He competed in three classes and he finished 2nd in 40+ 4wd Buggy, 1st in Stadium Truck, and also set the TQ and finished 1st in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy!

Shooting over to Texas let’s get this quick update from team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. He recently went back to Speegleville Speedway which is right outside of the city of Waco.

He competed in a recent event there driving in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and would set the TQ and take the win!

Kicking it up to Kansas we stop in at RC Pitstop and Raceway in the city of Newton. Team driver Mason Herrick recently competed there for a club race that was just shy of 100 entries, and he would set the TQ and take the W in the Mod 2wd Buggy class!

Heading north let’s stop in at the Toy Box RC Track in New Richmond, WI for a quick update from JC driver Joe Zaier Jr. Last Saturday they held a points race, and he would finish 3rd overall in the Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

Making our way over to Minnesota let’s get a few updates from the team competing at different tracks in the state. Starting with JConcepts driver Joe Scaramell he recently went to the city of Foley where 510 Raceway is located at. They put on their Shamrock Showdown trophy race and he competed in the Expert 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes. He started 2nd overall in the Mod 2wd class, but ran into an electrical gremlin that knocked him out of the race so he settled for 5th place. However, he bounced back in the Expert 17.5 class as he took the TQ and victory that day! He also let us know that he finished 2nd overall in the points series held at 510 Raceway in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class as well!

Our next stop in the state is at Thunder Road RC Raceway in Waite Park. Team driver Thor Ott competed in their last point series event in the 13.5 Stadium class where he set the TQ and took the win! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was his tire teammate Austin Jacobson!

Now let’s get some updates from our International team starting with team driver Clément Boda. Last weekend was Round 1 of the French 1/10 Nationals which was held in Lyon, France. At the end of the round he would secure the TQ and wins in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes thanks to the teamwork of his father and also his fellow JConcepts driver Sebastien Mure!

Now we head down to Australia to get some quick updates from the team. Starting with JC pilot Jarod Ment he recently competed at a club event at Sydney RC’s Summer Series. He competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would secure the TQ and win in both classes!

Our final report this week is courtesy of team driver Darren Johnston. Last Saturday night he competed at a club event in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class. They ran three races that evening and he finished 2nd in all of them!
