In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Ohio team driver, Joey Bourdon!
1. How did you first hear about racing RC cars? And what classes did you compete in?
I learned about racing after watching people bash with Traxxas Slashes at a campsite when I was 7 or 8 years old. My first year racing, I raced 17.5 2wd short course truck, Pro4 short course truck and 1/8 electric buggy.
2. What class do you prefer to compete in today, and why?
Today, my favorite class to race is 1/8 Nitro Buggy. There’s really nothing like it to me, the speed at the top level of racing today is unreal and it’s very satisfying trying to push a nitro buggy around the track for long mains.
3. As a new driver for JConcepts in 2023, what do you feel you bring to the team and what are some of your racing goals?
My first few months with JConcepts have been an incredible experience for us. I feel that I can have a big part in bringing my local area to see the speed and excellence of JConcepts products. I also hope to continue this to the national level and continue improving my driving. This year I have the goal of making the fuel nationals buggy finals.
4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?
A must have JConcepts product for any track day is the combination of the JConcepts Ride Height and Camber Gauges. Setting the basics correctly is the first step to success.
5. Besides RC racing, what other activities do you enjoy?
Aside from racing, I have a passion for training at the gym. Since I’ve recently gotten into improving my physical fitness, my mental fitness has had a massive boost which helps a lot trying to race at the highest levels in RC. The gym is a great way to get away from the stressful environment of the racetrack and I’m totally hooked on putting in all of my effort lifting.
