Race Team Update – May 2023 Week #3

Another week of racing is in the books and the JConcepts race team continues to rack up wins! See where we won at this past week in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down at Sundancers RC Raceway in Port Saint Lucie, FL. They were the host of Round 5 of the Florida RC Championship that brought out 220 entries! Let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Tony Rivas.

He competed in the 40+ and Open 1/8 Electric Buggy classes for this most recent round. He would finish 3rd in both classes plus grab the TQ in the open class! Joining him on the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy podium was fellow JC drivers Erik Everett (2nd) and AJ Johnson (5th)!

His teammate Brett Kingsbury competed in the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and locked up 3rd place in both!

JC driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. finished 2nd in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, plus he set the TQ and finished 2nd in Open 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Team driver Carlos Gonzalez finished 6th in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class, plus he took the W in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

His tire teammate Joshua Vicidomini finished 8th overall in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, and he also set the TQ and took the win in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Truggy class!

Moving up along the coastline we stop in at S&B RC Speedway in Piedmont, SC. This past weekend they were the host track for Round 2 of the SOS (Southern Off-Road Series) which saw over 100 entries!

Competing there for the team was JC driver Jonah Wilson in three classes. He would set the TQ in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class, but a mechanical gremlin knocked him out during the A Main so he finished 8th overall. He also raced in the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes where he would finish 2nd in both!

Also competing at this event for the team was JC driver Cade Burnette in the same three classes. He would finish right behind Jonah on the podium in both buggy classes, and he would take the win in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class!

Continuing up the coast we roll into Power Line RC in Fredericksburg, VA. Team driver Brian Miskolczi recently raced there at their season opener in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class.

After the single 8 minute A Main was ran Brian would cross the line in 1st place!

Now let’s head to Pennsylvania to get some updates from the team competing at different events. Starting in the city of Uniontown where Get A Hobby is located, team driver Matt Stoltz competed in the 1st Annual Battle Of The RC Monster Trucks. He competed in the Retro Monster Truck class and he was able to sweep the podium with all of his monster trucks!

Staying in the state we now head to Oakland Mills where LCRC Raceway is located at. This past weekend they held their Northeast Showdown that brought out 283 entries! Team driver Joey Bourdon competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and he set the TQ in e buggy and took home the W in both!

JC driver Ethan Mackanick competed in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes and was the top qualifier in both! Unfortunately he had some bad luck in the mains as he suffered a DNF in truggy, but he was able to bounce back and make the podium with a 4th place finish in buggy!

JConcepts driver Dylan Manchanda finish 6th in the C Main for Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and 5th place in the B Main for Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

His brother and fellow JC pilot Aydan finished 9th overall in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and 6th place in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Even mom got in on the racing action! Ladies who attended the showdown were asked to race in the very 1st PowderPuff Race! With no preparation, practice or planning Bree Manchanda was able to put Aydan’s buggy onto the top spot of the podium!

Team driver Tom Petrella raced in the 40+ 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes for this event. At the end of the weekend he would put in solid results as he finished 3rd overall in both classes!

Next, we fly back west and touch down in New Franken, WI where Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway is located.

They recently held their 1st Outdoor Summer Series race this past weekend, and team driver Ryan Derenne let us know that he just missed the transfer spot in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class and also finished 4th in Mod Stadium Truck!

Crossing the state line into Minnesota let’s see how the team finished up at Round 1 of the MNRC Minnesota Off-Road Racing Series. This event was held at Southern Minnesota RC Raceway in Blooming Prairie, and team driver Josh Ford competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes.

In buggy he set the TQ and locked up the final podium spot while in truggy he started fourth on the grid and took the win!

Also racing at this round was his teammate Joe Scaramell. He signed up to compete in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Truggy class along with 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy. When the dust had settled he would finish 13th in nitro buggy, 9th in e buggy and 4th in 40+ nitro truggy!

Making a diagonal we stop at Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend was Round 1 of their Summer Series that saw 153 entries! Team driver Brandon Kearney raced in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and finished 6th in 2wd and 5th in 4wd!

His teammate Riley Filbert finished 5th in Mod 2wd Buggy, 3rd in 17.5 2wd Buggy and took the W in Mod 4wd Buggy! Joining him on the mod wheeler podium were JConcepts teammates Owen (2nd) and Alex Vanderbeek (TQ/3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

JC driver David Peavler let us know that he finished 9th in 13.5 4wd Buggy, 9th in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy and 4th overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy!

JConcepts driver Emerson Sturgeon competed in two classes at this series. In the 13.5 Stadium Truck he would set the TQ, but unfortunately break out after one lap in the main event. He bounced back in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and he would drive on to claim the win!

His father, and race director, Alex Sturgeon had himself a day as he double TQed and grabbed two wins in the Expert 13.5 4wd and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes!

JC driver Orlando Martinez finished 10th in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 5th place in both the 13.5 4wd and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes!

Now we head like a missile down to Magee, MS to get this quick update from team driver William Ables. This past weekend he competed at Saratoga-Flowood RC Raceway in their 2023 FRC Family Reunion race. They suffered from some rainy weather that weekend, but in the end they were still able to run one qualifier and then the mains, and William would cross the line in 1st place in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Shooting over to Texas let’s check out the race results from the The Dirt Lonestar Challenge. This race was held at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto and it brought in 306 entries!

Team driver Brian Henn competed in the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes, and he would finish 4th in buggy and 2nd place in truggy!

JConcepts driver Billy DiCorte Jr. kept himself busy as he raced in four classes that weekend. He would finish 9th in Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Truggy, 8th in Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy, 6th in Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy and a 5th place finish in Intermediate 1/8 Electric Truggy! He also earns our coveted “ironman” award for this week too!

Team driver Jaxen Anderson finished 4th in Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 3rd place in Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy! Joining him on the nitro buggy podium were JC teammates Reggie Tongue (1st) and Kayty Roxberry (5th)!

JC driver Todd Geary finished 6th overall in the Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Truggy class and 10th in Intermediate 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Heading out to sunny California we check in with team driver Jeremy Bunting. This past weekend he went to the Rescue Community Center RC Track in the town of Rescue for Round 2 of the Nor Cal RC Monster Trucks Series.

His “Bad Company” rig tied for first and was declared the winner in freestyle! His “Carnage” truck finished second in the competition too!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of international driver Clément Boda. He and his teammate Sebastien Mure traveled to Strasbourg, France to compete in a big 1/8 Nitro Buggy race. When the event was over they would finish 4th after running in the A Main for 45 minutes!
