Race Team Update – May 2023 Week #1

The first weekend of racing in May is in the books and the JConcepts race team adds another chapter packed full of wins. See what tracks we were winning at this past week in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report down at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO. They recently held the first round of their Indoor Off-Road Electric Points Series, and team driver Orlando Martinez finished 2nd in 13.5 4wd Buggy and took the W in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Next, we head up I-35 and make our way to Send It RC Speedway located at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel, IA. This past weekend they held their Left Turn Nationals and team driver David Fast competed in the 410 Sprint class. He would just miss the transfer spot to the A Main after breaking out, but his car was running fast all weekend and he still had a great time!

Moving up north to Minnesota let’s now catch up with team driver Thor Ott. Over the winter months was busy competing in not one, but two Winter points series. At MMR3 in St. Louis Park, MN he competed in a 12 part race series, and he also crossed over into Wisconsin to visit the Toy Box in New Richmond for a 7 part race series. He would finish 2nd overall in 2wd Buggy at MMR3 and took the title in the same class at the Toy Box!

Our next stop is at Dream Fields Raceway in Waterloo, IL which hosted the 2nd round of the Trigger King RC Monster Truck Summer Series, and team driver Chris Parrish competed in multiple classes at this most recent round. His Bearfoot replica took the TQ, and both that truck and his Master of Disaster truck made the Retro bracket 2 finals! Bearfoot would go on to take the win, plus Bearfoot also made the semi finals for bracket 1 which earned it the overall winner that day! In the Sport class both of his trucks ended up in the finals and his Bearfoot Racer truck defeated his Equalizer mini monster to capture his 2nd overall for the event! In the Pro class his new Wild Hair rig swept both brackets, and it was also the TQ in bracket 2! It would also go on to take the overall for the day!

His teammate Jeremy Mark also competed in this event in three separate classes. He put in solid results as he made the final 4 (semi finals) in 4 of 6 racing brackets! In the Sport Mod class his Taurus 3 replica had a TQ and two semi-finals appearances which earned enough points to win the overall for the day as well!

Now we dribble over to VCRC raceway in Terre Haute, IN for our next report. Team driver Justin Green recently competed there for the opening round of the Hoosier Off-Road Racing Series which brought in 142 entries! He competed in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and at the end of the day he would finish 5th in nitro and take the win in e buggy!

Also competing for the team at this race was team driver Nick Reppen. He competed in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes along with 1/8 Electric Truggy. In the e buggy main he would break out during the warm laps so he finished with a DNS. In nitro buggy he finished in 7th place and in e truggy he would set the TQ and take the win!

Heading south we stop in at Huntsville, AL where the Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club (RC3) is located. This past weekend they held opening round of their point series and team driver Robert Romano competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would set the TQ and finish 8th in the A Main!

Also competing at this race was his tire teammate Randy Enger, and he raced in two classes for this opening round. In the 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would finish 2nd overall, while in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he would take the win! Joining him on the nitro buggy podium in 2nd place was his teammate Drew Williams!

Heading to the coast let’s catch up with team driver Ennis Graves. This past weekend he went to Sumter RC Raceway in Sumter, SC to compete in the TSOC Series. He competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and would finish a solid 9th overall!

Crossing the border into North Carolina let’s see how JC driver Luis Diego finished up at Round 1 of the Super Seven Series held at Thunder Alley RC Speedway in the city of Lucama. In the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would finish 2nd for the round, while in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class he took the TQ and win!

Crossing the stateline again we now make our way over to the The Tiltyard In Dayton, VA for their season opener that saw over 100 entries! Team driver Rusty Mihelich competed in multiple classes at this race, and he finished 5th in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy plus two wins in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy and 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes which also included a TQ in truggy!

His daughter Maddy Long qualified 12th in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class but retied early with a DNF. She finished 5th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, and she also locked up 2nd place in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class!

Also competing at this race was JC driver Javon Mallory in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would finish 6th in the nitro class, while in e buggy he put in a solid run to finish in fourth!

Brothers and team drivers Aydan and Dylan Manchanda recently competed at DirtRunners in Oak Ridge, NJ for their first outdoor race of the year. They both signed up for 1/8 Electric Buggy and Aydan would set the TQ and take the win while Dylan finished right behind him in 2nd place!

Now let’s get some updates from our international team starting with Australian team driver Aaron Dexter. Not too long ago he competed in the Western Australian Challenge Cup Series with his 1/8 Nitro Buggy, and he would set the TQ and take the win!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of French team driver Clément Boda. Last weekend was the 3rd round of the French Nationals which took place at the Arcf42 track in Boisset-Saint-Priest, France. He would finish 2nd in the Mod 4wd Buggy class, while he also set the TQ and took the win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class! Helping out that weekend was his father and also his tire teammate Sebastien Mure!
