In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Kansas team driver, Shane Alberico!
1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?
I got into RC racing 10 years ago. My brother and dad are what got me into racing. When I first started I had a Traxxas Slash that I ran around the neighborhood for a little bit before I hit the track and ran Novice.
2. If you had to guess where the 1/10 off-road electric scene is ten years from now, would you expect to see more dirt, carpet, or turf tracks and why?
If I were to take a guess where 1/10 off-road will be at in 10 years I’d say there would be a lot of carpet/turf tracks because it’s much easier to get a car out there to drive. I see dirt becoming less popular because of all the work it takes to race on it.
3. Dirt Oval has really grown in popularity over the past few years. In your opinion what is the main cause of this increase of left turn drivers?
The main cause I see in Dirt Oval is it’s an easy way to get out on the track, and most of the people I’ve seen are people who race big cars and want a little version to race in the off-season. I like Dirt Oval because of how cool it looks.
4. When it comes to new products released from JConcepts, what are you most excited to see and why? Is it a new body, new tire, new accessory, etc.?
When it comes to new products from JConcepts I’m excited to see all the new tires that will come out because it means a further step into the future and improvement of RC.
5. Besides RC racing, what other activities do you enjoy?
When I’m not at the track I like to play golf, sit out in the lake, play video games, and hang out with my family as much as possible.
