Race Team Update – June 2023 Weeks #2 & #3

Six months into 2023 and the JConcepts race team shows no signs of slowing down! See where we won at the past two weeks in this race packed edition of the Race Team Update!

Let’s first roll back to the second week of June to see how the team finished up. Our first report is out of sunny California for Round 3 of the So Cal RC Monster Truck Racing series that was held at CTRC in the city of Menifee. Team driver Trever Adamo won brackets 1 and 2 in Pro Mod along with bracket 1 in Retro!

Angling down to Arcor Raceway in Albuquerque, NM we get our next report from team driver Tony Hinojosa. He recently competed there for the Mid-America Championships in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class and just missed out on the transfer spot from the B Main.

In Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy he qualified 4th for the AA Mains, and after both were ran he would finish in 6th place!

Shooting over to Texas we get our next report from JConcepts driver Jordan Hefler. He went to 4way Speedway in Abilene since they were host to the RC Pro Oval Series. He raced in three classes and set the TQ in Midwest and SC Mod, and also went on to win those classes plus another W in the Late Model class!

Moving north to Oklahoma, we catch up with JC driver Tyler Keel. He recently went to the city of Yukon to race at Taylor Park RC Raceway for their point series. He competed in the Outlaw Sprint class and took the TQ and win!

Jumping up to Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located let’s see how the team finished up at Round 2 of their Summer Series that saw 177 entries! Starting with team driver Riley Filbert he signed up for three classes in this most recent round. He finished 10th in Mod 2wd Buggy, 6th in Mod 4wd Buggy, and set the TQ and took the win in 17.5 2wd Buggy! He was joined on the 17.5 podium with fellow JC driver Emerson Sturgeon!

Emerson also competed in three other classes too. In 13.5 Stadium Truck he would finish 5th, he locked up the 2nd podium spot in 13.5 4wd Buggy, and he set the TQ and took the win in the Mini Truggy class! He also earns our coveted “ironman” award this week for racing in four classes too!

Fellow team driver, and HobbyPlex race director, Alex Sturgeon competed in two classes for Round 2. He would double down that day as he took the TQ and win in both the 13.5 4wd and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes!

JConcepts driver Nick Gibson raced in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes, and he would finish 5th in Mod 4wd, plus picked up the win in Mod 2wd! He was joined on the Mod 2wd podium by team drivers Mason Herrick (2nd) and Alex Vanderbeek (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep! Speaking of Mason, he also raced in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and would come home with a TQ and win!

Crossing the Missouri River we head into Iowa to get this next report from team driver David Fast. He recently competed at Leighton Speedway in the town of Leighton for a recent point series event. At the end of the night he would finish 4th overall in the 410 Sprint and Late Model classes!

Next, we head northeast to Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken, WI, There we find team driver Ryan Derenne who recently competed in Round 2 of their Summer Series in the 1/8 Electric Truggy and Mod Stadium Truck classes.

Unfortunately as the mains started up so did the rain and the event was canceled for the day. So drivers finished in their qualifying spot so Ryan would finish 9th overall in truggy and 5th place in stadium truck!

Making our way down to the “land of Lincoln” we stop in at Eli Field in Monticello which was host to this year’s Horizon RC Fest. Not only was there RC displays and demos, but there was also some RC racing events too! Team driver Andy Krivitz competed in a 1/8 off-road event and would finish 5th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and took the TQ and 1st place in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Also competing in this race was his tire teammate Brayden Billington. He signed up for 1/8 Nitro and Electric Truggy and would finish 2nd in both!

Also taking place at this festival was some monster truck action. Team driver Josh Rhodes was crushing the competition, and he picked up the win in the LMT Open Class with his Grave Digger 40th Anniversary replica! On the second day of competition he would win in bracket 2 in this same class with his Grave Digger #20 truck! In the Promod class he would finish 3rd on day one, but the following day he would take the win with his Grave Digger LMT!

Now we burn rubber over to Kirkwood, MO to see how the team finished up at the Gateway Classic hosted by the St. Louis Dirt Burners. There were 178 entries in total for this race, and team driver Braden Bruce competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. The nitro A Main would get rained out so he finished where he qualified in 4th place, but they were able to run the e buggy main where he took the win! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was JConcepts driver Charles Day!

Also competing in this race was team driver Shane Alberico who finished 9th in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy!

Now let’s rock out and head over to Knoxville, TN for our next report from team driver Jonah Wilson. He went to ROCCK Racing to compete in their 1st Annual Hard ROCCK Race in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Buggy classes. He would go on to secure the TQ and W in both classes!

Dipping down to Callahan, FL we make our way to Callahan Off-Road RC Raceway. They recently held Round 4 of the 2023 Southeast Tri-State Challenge Series, and JC driver Dustin Spallone TQed both the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! The rain washed out all of the mains, so the final order was determined by qualifying results which gave Dustin the double TQ and win!

Heading up the coast we get our next report from team driver David Olsen who recently competed in Round 2 of the SOS (Southern Off-Road Series). This special event was hosted by S&B RC Speedway in Piedmont, SC, and David would take home the win in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Wiggling over to West Virginia, we now catch up with team driver Bella Rogers who attended Tri-Cities RC Racing’s King Of The Hillbillies trophy race in the town of Lavalette. She competed in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes, and she would finish 5th in e buggy and took the TQ and win in e truggy!

Rolling up to Rome, NY let’s stop in at CRC Raceway and Hobbies to see how the team finished up at the 19th Annual Rumble In Rome event which brought in 204 entries! Starting with team driver Aydan Manchanda, he would finish 4th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 2nd place in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Also competing there for the team was JC driver Daemon Holon. He raced in three classes and would suffer a DNF in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, a 8th place finish in 1/8 Electric Truggy, and he also set the TQ and finished 2nd in 1/8 Nitro Truggy!

Cutting the corner to Connecticut, we meet up with team driver Matthew Sousa at RC Madness in Enfield. They recently hosted the USRC Turf Wars, and he signed up for the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes where he took the TQ and wins!

Now let’s get some updates from our international drivers. Heading up to Canada, our first report comes into us from team driver Rob Wheeler. He went to Barnyard Brawl in Stratford, Ontario which saw 180 entries! He would finish 7th in the C Main for 4wd Buggy and finish 7th in the A Main for 2wd Buggy!

Staying in Canada we get our next report from JC driver Peter Tozser. He recently competed in the 15th Annual Oil City Dash held at RCRE in Edmonton, AB. He would finish 2nd in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy A Main, while his daughter Brittany finished 2nd in 1/8 Nitro Truggy and also took the win in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Heading down under to Australia let’s see how the team performed at a few different events. Starting with team driver Ray Munday he recently competed in Round 2 of the Victorian Drivers Series in the regional town of Mildura which saw 110 entries! He would finish 3rd in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes, while his son Lachlan locked up the wins in both!

Their tire teammate Andrew Selvaggi competed in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, and he would come home with the TQ and win in both!

Our final report for the second week of June came to us courtesy of team driver Lachlan Donnelly. He recently competed in the Annual Ryde Cup hosted by the Sydney RC Car Club, and he would take home wins in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes!

Shifting gears let’s now fly back to the Pacific Northwest to get the results from the team for the 3rd week of June. Starting with team driver Robert Sorjonen he reported that he recently went to Skagit River Raceway in Burlington, WA to compete in SRR race #4. He raced in three classes and set the TQ in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy along with 1/8 Electric Buggy! In the mains a gremlin struck his wheeler as he would finish with a DNF, but he was able to make the podium in the other two classes, and he finished 3rd in Mod 2wd and 2nd in e buggy!

Flowing south into sunny California let’s catch up with JConcepts driver Jeremy Bunting. This past weekend he competed at Round 3 of the Nor Cal RC Monster Trucks JConcepts Points Series at Auburn RC in the city of Auburn.

He would go on to capture the racing and overall wins in the 2.2 Class with his Crash Test Dummy monster truck! In the 2.6 Class he won the tie breaker in the freestyle competition with his replica Carnage truck as well!

Zipping back over to Oklahoma let’s check in again with team driver Tyler Keel. Taylor Park RC Raceway in Yukon held a make up race for the RC Pro Dirt Series, and he finished 2nd in Outlaw Sprint! Joining him on the podium was fellow team driver Jennifer Lathrop in 3rd!

Moving into Missouri we now get a few updates from the team competing at various events held at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs. Starting with team driver Orlando Martinez he recently competed at Round 3 of their Indoor Off-Road Summer Series, and he would finish 2nd in 17.5 2wd Buggy plus took the TQ and W in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class!

On the same day outside on the 1/8 track, JConcepts driver Adam Kasch raced in Round 3 of their Outdoor Off-Road Summer Series. He would finish 4th in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and finished 2nd on the podium in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class!

Heading back to Iowa we get another update from JConcepts pilot David Fast. He competed for a second weekend in a row at a dirt oval event, but this time it was in Adel at the Dallas County Fairgrounds where Send It R.C. Speedway is located. He was competing in the Late Model class, but unfortunately the event had to be cancelled due to the pouring rain in the second round of qualifying, so he would finish in 6th place and still took home a big check for his efforts!

Staying in Iowa let’s head down I-80 towards Muscatine where Island Speedway is located. They recently held another round of their points series and team driver Brayden Nelson was in attendance.

He competed in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, and at the end of the day he left the island with the double TQ and win!

Moving up to Minnesota we get our next update from team driver Joe Zaier Jr. He recently visited Loosenuts Raceway in North Branch for another round of the MNRC Minnesota Off-Road Racing Series. He signed up in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Class and would finish 7th overall for the round!

Leaping over Lake Michigan we splash down in the town of Gobles where M-40 Raceway is located. Team driver Kyle Munson recently went there to compete in Round 3 of their points series in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and 4wd Short Course Truck classes. He would set the TQ in the 4wd SCT class and go on to take the win in both!

Staying in the state we now head to Jonesville to get this update from team driver Jeff Todd.

Sandpit RC held their 10th Angie Mitchell Donate Life benefit race, and Jeff signed up for the 13.5 Street Stock class, and he would set the TQ and finish 3rd overall!

Kicking it south into Kentucky let’s get another quick update from JC driver Bella Rogers. She recently raced in a Nitro V.s. Electric Cash Race held at Dixon’s RC Raceway in Hazard.

She would finish 5th in the cash race, she grabbed the TQ and second podium spot in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class and in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class she took home the win!

Shooting east into Virginia we catch up with team driver Brian Miskolczi.

He recently competed at the Buggy Masters race held at the Tiltyard in Dayton, and he finished 3rd on the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Next, let’s head north to LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills, PA to see how the team finished up at the Party Rock Race event that brought in 227 entries! Team driver Joey Bourdon competed in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes, and he set the TQ in nitro buggy and went on to take home the title in both classes! Joining him the podium in 5th place was team driver Bryan Kota along with JC pilot Dylan Manchanda in 9th!

His brother Aydan Manchanda also competed in this event too. In the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would finish in 9th place, while over in the Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy class he would win the B Main and finish 2nd overall in the A!

Team driver Bibie Cruz finished 5th in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class as well as a fourth place finish in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class!

Our final stop in the 3rd week of June is at RC Madness in Enfield, CT. Last weekend they held their 1st Annual Beef Electric Shootout which saw over 100 entries! Team driver Tom Bishop raced in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class and set the TQ and finished 3rd overall!

Fellow team driver Andrew Bishop signed up for the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and he would finish 2nd overall! Joining him on the podium was fellow team driver Daniel Sedler in 3rd place! Daniel also finished 2nd overall in 1/8 Electric Truggy too!
