Race Team Update – July 2023 Week #4

The last weekend in July was another strong one for the JConcepts race team as they continue their winning ways around the globe! Read where we won at this past week in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report up in the Pacific Northwest. This past weekend Round 4 of the Northwest Championship Tour (a.k.a the West Side Challenge) took place at Skagit River Raceway in Burlington, WA. This event saw 252 entries so let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Austin Cracknell. He let us know that he competed in the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes along with 1/8 Electric Truggy. He would set the TQ in all three classes and then drive on to take home 1st in all of them!

Also competing there for the team was JConcepts driver Shane Preugschat in the 40+ and Open 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes plus 1/8 Nitro Truggy. He would make the A Mains for all of them, and finished this round in 8th place in truggy, 3rd place in open buggy, and took the W in the 40+ class! Joining Shane and Austin on the 1/8 Nitro Buggy podium was their tire teammate Tyler Wilbur in 2nd place!

Team driver Robert Sorjonen was working hard at this event as he signed up for five classes! He would finish 13th in 1/8 Nitro Truggy, 11th in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 3rd in 1/8 Electric Truggy, set the TQ and finish 2nded in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy, and also took home a TQ and win in Mod 4wd Buggy! He also earns our coveted “ironman” award this week too!

Heading down to the southwest we meet up with team driver James Rodriguez. He recently went to Fast Eddie’s RC Hobbies in Yuma, AZ to compete in Round 4 of their parking lot series. He competed in the Open Mod 2wd Buggy class and would take the TQ and win!

Shooting over to Texas we make our way to Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto. There we find team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. who recently raced here for Round 5 of their championship series. As the dust settled he would finish 7th in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and 3rd place in Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Moving north let’s now head to Taylor Park Raceway in Taylor, OK. This past weekend this track held their 9th Annual Summer Showdown and team driver Kevin Mcnatt was in attendance.

He competed in the SC Mod class and would take the TQ and the W!

Also racing there for the team was JC pilot Tyler Keel in the Open Sprint class. He would grab the top qualifying position and race on to take the victory!

Now let’s move even further north and stop in at Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they held Round 3 of their Summer Series which saw 169 entries! Team driver Mason Herrick reported that he signed up for the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes, and would lock up the final podium spot in mod wheeler and finish 2nd in 2wd! Joining him on the Mod 2wd Buggy podium were his fellow JC teammates Nick Gibson (1st) and Alex Vanderbeek (TQ & 3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

Also competing in these two classes was team driver Brandon Kearney. He would finish the day with solid results in both classes with a 11th place finish in Mod 2wd and 8th place over in Mod 4wd Buggy!

Moving down to Missouri let’s head to the city of Blue Springs where Fastlane Raceway is located. This past weekend they held Round 5 of their Slideways Dirt Oval series, and team driver Jeremy Cathlina competed in three classes. He would end the round by finishing 2nd in Midwest Modified, 1st in Open Sprint, and a TQ and win in Open Late Model!

Flying out east we touch down at Hillside Raceway in Epping, NH. This past weekend they held their Buggy Truggy Wars, and team driver Matt Perault raced in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class where he would finish in 2nd place right behind his teammate Daniel Sedler!

Daniel would also take the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class too!

Also competing at this event was their teammate John Cravotta in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Electric Truggy classes. He would finish 5th overall in e truggy and took the TQ and win in buggy!

Now let’s get a few updates from our international team. Our first report is from the recent 2023 Nitro Blast held at Otterville Raceway in Tillsonburg, ON, Canada. This event brought in 273 entries and team driver Daemon Holon competed in three classes. He would finish the race with a 4th place finish in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, plus two TQs and wins in 1/8 Nitro and Electric Truggy!

Also competing at this race for the team was JConcepts driver Jordan Miles in the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes where he finished in 2nd place in both!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Lachlan Donnelly. This past weekend he competed in Round 2 of CHRL (Campbelltown Hobbies Racing League) at the Sydney RC Car Club in Sydney, New South Wales. He competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and took both wins after sweeping the AAA Mains!
