Race Team Update – October 2023 Week #3

The third weekend of October is in the books and it looks like there is no slowing down for the the JConcepts race team as you can read below in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out east at LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills PA. This past weekend they held their Halloween Race which saw nearly 170 entries! Team driver Aydan Manchanda competed in this event and finished 3rd in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes!

His brother and fellow JC driver Dylan Manchanda competed in the same classes, but had some bad luck in the B Mains as he finished with DNFs, but he still had a good time and his vehicles were looking fast!

Sending it south to Leaned Out Raceway in Disputanta, VA let’s see how the team finished up at the recent Virginia State Championship Series Finals that was held there. Starting with JConcepts driver Layton Miskolczi he would win the AA Main for the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class at the finals, and when the season points were tallied up he also finished first in the series in this class!


Team driver Rusty Mihelich set the TQ in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes along with another TQ in 1/8 Electric Truggy! He would go on to finish 4th in e buggy, 2nd in e truggy and took the W in nitro buggy! When the season points were calculated he would finish 2nd in nitro buggy and electric truggy, plus 1st place in e buggy!

His daughter and fellow JConcepts pilot Maddy Long finished 4th in 1/8 Nitro Buggy, 3rd place in 1/8 Electric Buggy and took the win in 1/8 Electric Truggy! For the points series she also finished 2nd in e truggy and 1st place in nitro and e buggy!

JC driver Javon Mallory finished 3rd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy after the 30 minutes main, plus he took the win at the finals in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

The next day he went to Adrenaline RC Raceway in the city of Winchester to compete in their outdoors points series finale. He would finish 3rd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy along with the TQ and win in 1/8 Nitro Buggy!

Wiggling our way up to Wisconsin we visit the city of New Franken where is Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway is located.

This past weekend they held their Fall Brawl race and team driver Ryan Derenne reported that he just missed the bump spot in the 40+ Super Stock 2wd Buggy class, plus a 4th place finish in Mod Stadium Truck!

His tire teammate Richie Peters set the the TQ in both the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes, and after the mains were ran he would finish 2nd in 13.5 wheeler along with a 1st place finish in 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy!

Next, let’s head to Leighton Speedway in Leighton, IA for this quick report from team driver David Fast. This past weekend he competed in their season finale and would finish 5th in Late Model and 4th overall in 410 Sprint! After the season points were calculated he would finish 5th in 410 Sprint and 2nd in Late Model!

Putting it into overdrive we arrive in Oklahoma for this update from JC driver Tyler Keel. Recently he went to Taylor Park RC Raceway in Yukon to compete in their final points event in the Open Sprint class. He would capture the win in the feature and also finished 1st overall in the points series too!

Staying in the state we get another update from team driver Lukas Klein. This past weekend he competed in a Crawlapolooza crawling competition held in the town of Disney and put in solid results in four different classes!

  • 1st overall and best course one score in the 1/24 Wild class
  • 2nd overall in Trail class
  • 3rd overall and best course one score in the Unlimited class
  • 13th overall in the Modified class

He also earns our coveted “ironman” award this week too!

Now let’s fly out to sunny California to get a few updates from the team competing at different events. Starting with JC driver Rob Moots he recently competed at Auburn RC in the city of Auburn for their Halloween Havoc trophy race, and he would set the TQ and finished 2nd in Mod Sprint, plus took home a cash purse of $150!

Heading to El Centro where Ricochet RC Raceway we meet up with team driver Adam Peters. This track was host to Round 3 of the Beat The Heat Series and he signed up for the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class. His buggy was on rails for this event as he set the TQ and then raced on two win both AA Mains!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Sebastien Mure. He and fellow team driver Clément Boda competed near Marseille in France for the 1/8 Nitro French Cup event. Clément would set the TQ in qualifying, put in a solid run in the semi-finals, and then he raced on to take the tone to tone win in the 45 minute finale!
