Race Team Update – September 2023 Week #4

The final weekend of racing in September is a successful one for the JConcepts race team as they continue their march to the top of the podium! Read all about it in this new edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out at Hank Perry Raceway in Spokane Valley, WA for their Dave Mapston Memorial race which saw 127 entries! Team driver Brenden Bartlett competed in the 1/8 Electric Truggy and Nitro Buggy classes and grabbed the TQ and win in both!

Heading over to Utah we stop in at Eaton’s Intermountain RC Raceway in Salt Lake to see how the team did at the 1st Annual Salt Lake Dirt Oval Nationals which brought out over 100 entries! JC driver Shane Wheeler raced in the 13.5 Sprint class and finished in 6th place!

Team driver John Schultz competed in the SC Mod class and secured the TQ and win!

Next, let’s shoot down to Thompson RC Raceway in Justin, TX for our next report. This pass weekend they hosted the finals for the CMC Super Cup Series which brought out nearly 120 entries! Team driver Jordan Hefler competed in three classes, and when the event was over he would finish 2nd in Midwest Mod plus two TQs and Ws in the SC Mod and Wingless Sprint classes!

JConcepts driver Randy Lathrop took the win in the 10.5 Late Model class, and he was joined on the podium by his tire teammate Cody Babbitt in 2nd place!

Randy’s better half Jen locked up 2nd place on the podium in the Outlaw Sprint class too!

Speaking of Cody he also took the TQ and victory in the Midwest Mod class!

JC pilot Kevin Mcnatt finished 2nd overall in the SC Mod class, and when the season points were tallied up he took 1st place in this class too!

Heading northeast we mosey on up to Blue Springs, MO where Fastlane Raceway is located.

This past weekend was the final round of their outdoor summer series, and team driver Shane Alberico finished 3rd overall in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

His father and fellow JC teammate David Alberico finished 2nd overall in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Team driver Adam Kasch competed in the three classes for the finals. In the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class he just missed out on the bump spot to the A Main. In the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy class he would finish 6th for the day and 4th overall in the points series! In the 1/8 Electric Truggy class he took the win, plus the overall points title in this class too!

Nudging out to North Carolina we stop in at Red Brush RC located in Mount Airy. This past weekend they held their Future Stars Of RC event which saw nearly 170 entries! Team driver Maddy Long competed in both the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes, and she took the TQ in e buggy before breaking out in the main with a DNF, plus put in a solid 7th place finish in nitro buggy!

Her father and fellow JC driver Rusty Mihelich took the W in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class too!

JConcepts driver Derrick Harris also raced at this event in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He made the A Main for both classes but suffered a DNF to drop him out of contention in the e buggy class, but in e truggy he would lock down 5th place overall!

JC driver Jake Stikeleather ran in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and walked away with the win!

Turning our attention to West Virginia let’s get this quick update from team driver Bella Rogers. She recently went to Tri-Cities RC Racing in Lavalette to compete in the finals for their point series.

She didn’t attend the previous rounds, so she played the role of spoiler as she gobbled up some critical points with a TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Next, we make our way to Trains and Lanes Hobbies in Easton PA to see how the team performed at their recent trophy event which netted 143 entries! Starting with team driver Tom Petrella he signed up for the 40+ 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. In the nitro A Main he ran into a mechanical gremlin that knocked him out of the race while running in 2nd place. In e buggy he was able to have some better luck and finished 3rd overall!

Team driver Dylan Manchanda raced in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished a solid 4th overall!

His brother and fellow tire teammate Aydan Manchanda doubled up in the 1/8 Electric Truggy and Buggy classes with two wins, plus a TQ in e truggy!

Cutting the corner to Connecticut we make our way to RC Madness in Enfield to meet up with team driver Michael Fredericks. He recently visited this track to compete in the Fall Final race event in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes. He would set the TQ and finish 3rd in truggy, while over in the buggy class he started 3rd in the main and went on to take the win!

Making our way to Michigan let’s check in with team driver Kyle Munson. This past weekend he went to the town of Gobles where M-40 Raceway is located at to race in their finals for their summer point series. He competed in the Pro4 and 1/8 Electric Buggy classes and he set the TQ in both and finished 2nd in e buggy and 1st in Pro4!

Now let’s get some updates from our international team starting with Spanish team driver Alberto Garcia. He recently competed at Buggyland X in Madrid, Spain in the 35+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class where he took the win!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of Australian team driver Ben Panic.

This past weekend he traveled to Clay Cup in Canberra to compete in a 1/8 off-road event and he took the victory in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

His son Zac also competed in the Juniors 1/8 Electric Buggy class where he ended up with the win too!
