In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Colorado team driver, Skyler Bergeron!
1. When you first got into RC racing, what pro driver did you look up to and why? Or maybe there was a local/regional driver that you followed?
I am pretty fortunate to have Dustin Evans as a local at my home track MHOR RC Raceway. Being able to show up and watch one of the best in the world doing something as simple as club racing, and just hanging out with friends was pretty awesome. Over the years having him to answer any question I have and help guide me in the right direction has been, and is still to this day, a huge influence on my racing and my racing program.
2. If you had to guess where the 1/10 off-road electric scene is ten years from now, would you expect to see more dirt, carpet, or turf tracks and why?
- Dirt will always be the true off-road racing, but I see the United States going more in the direction of carpet/turf tracks just because of maintenance as well as consistency.
3. In your opinion, what needs to be done to make RC more “mainstream” and get more people involved?
Maybe more true spec racing, handout electronics and tires or a bigger 21.5 class. With 17.5 being as competitive as it is these days it’s hard to get somebody new excited to travel to some big races.
4. Which JConcepts product is your favorite to date, and why?
The JConcepts Aluminum | Carbon Setting Board, because who doesn’t love anodized billet aluminum and carbon fiber?
5. Besides RC racing, what other activities do you enjoy?
Motorcycles. In my free time I’m usually hanging out with my family or friends riding my Harley.
