Race Team Update – November 2023 Week #2

The votes are in and it was another great weekend of racing for the JConcepts race team! Read all about it in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out west in Anaheim, CA. This past weekend the Monster Jam SuperStar Challenge was held at the Angel Stadium, and also taking place was an RC monster truck event too! Let’s see how the team finished up starting with team driver Josh Rhodes.

He reported that he competed in the High Jump competition and took home the win!

Team driver Tad Goad was also at this event and took home the win in the Freestyle competition! His tire teammate Johnathan Schultz took the TQ and win in the racing bracket too!

Johnathan wasn’t done racing for the weekend since on Sunday he traveled to Coyote Hobbies Indoor RC Raceway in Victorville to compete in their Oval Fall Classic dirt oval trophy race. He raced in the Mod Sprint class where he would collect another TQ and win! Joining him on the podium was fellow JC driver Davey Batta in 2nd place!

Now let’s head to the mountains and touch down in Aurora, CO where MHOR RC Raceway is located at. This past Saturday they held their Pizza Feast event that brought out 182 entries!

Competing there for the team was JC driver Rob Sturghill in the 13.5 Stadium Truck and 4wd Buggy classes. He finished the event with a 6th place finish in wheeler, 5th place finish in truck, and some yummy slices of pizza!

Moving on we now stop in at Mojo R/C Speedway in Oklahoma City, OK for our next team report. This past weekend they held their Big Woody trophy race which saw 122 entries! Team driver Randy Lathrop raced in the Outlaw and Wingless Sprint classes, and he finished 4th in Wingless and took the W in the Outlaw class!

His better half Jen also raced in the Outlaw class where she finished 4th overall, plus she competed in the Latemodel class and locked up the final podium spot!

Also competing at this race for the team was JConcepts driver Kevin Mcnatt in the SC Mod class. He would set the TQ to start 1st in the feature, but ran into some bad luck and had to exit early with a DNF. Still, he was running fast all weekend and had a great time!

Flying down to Florida let’s land in Crestview where B&T RC Raceway is located at. This past weekend they held their 3rd Annual Charity Race, and team driver Hunter King competed in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes where he took to the double TQ and win!

Shooting up north to En Hobbies & Raceway in Columbus, OH we get our next report from team driver Brandon Marsh.

Round 2 of the Midwest Carpet Off-Road Series was held there, and he registered for the 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes along with Stadium truck. When the event had ended he would make it a clean sweep by winning in all three classes!

Heading out east we make our way to RC Madness in Enfield, CT to see how the team finished up at their recent Turkey Gobbler race. Starting with team driver Matthew Sousa he let us know that he set the TQ in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes, then raced on to finish 2nd in 17.5 and took the win in the 13.5 class!

His tire teammate John Cravotta signed up for the 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes for this event. He finished 4th in Mod 2wd and 3rd place in 17.5! Taking the win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class was his JC mate Andrew Bishop to make it a podium sweep for the JConcepts team!

John wasn’t done racing for the weekend as he also traveled to Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME for the NEIC that took place there. He raced in the Expert 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes this time around, and he finished 2nd in 17.5 and took the win in the mod class! Joining him on the Mod podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Daniel Sedler!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Alberto Garcia. This past weekend he competed in the 1/8 Nitro Off-Road Madrid Championship in Spain, and after 45 minutes of racing he finished in 6th place!
