3 Wins For Drake At The 19th Annual Toys For Tots Race

This past weekend JConcepts pro RC driver Adam Drake and his wife Ronda hosted the 19th Annual Toys For Tots Race at The Drake Raceway in Palm Desert, CA.

The event brought in nearly 180 entries competing in 12 different classes.

Not only did this event bring out lots of competition, but it also included some great toy donations for kids in need this holiday season.

There was even a United States Marine Corps Color Guard courtesy of the nearby Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center.

Even though there was no snow on the ground, the race was still celebrating the season with some holiday themed decorations placed around the track and next to the podium for the top three drivers.

The event started on Friday as drivers put in some practice laps on the event’s layout. Practice ran until about 7:30pm that night.

On Saturday qualifying started at 9am that morning, and the race program called for two rounds of qualifying to determine each class TQ. Only a driver’s best qualifier would be used to determine who started on the pole for the A Mains.

Leading the charge for the team was team driver Adam Drake. He competed in three classes and would set the TQ in all of them!

The first A Main for him on Saturday was the 1/8 Open Nitro Truggy class. At the beginning of the race he would fall back to 6th place after one lap, but then by lap 4 he would make his way back into 1st place and then finish there for the rest of the 15 minute main!

The second main for Adam was the competitive 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy class. However, Adam would leave no doubt in this final as he raced on to take the tone to tone win!

The final main event for Adam and the entire race program was the 1/8 Open Electric Buggy class. In this final he would again get off to a slow start as he found himself in 9th place after the opening lap. By lap two he would move up to 6th place and he continued to put down fast and consistent laps. On lap seven he would take over the lead for good as he crossed the finish line and put the entire field down two laps!
