Friday5 With Team Driver Carter Gonzalez

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Florida team driver, Carter Gonzalez!

1. How did you first hear about racing RC cars? And what classes did you compete in?

My uncle introduced me to RC cars when I was eight. We went to Lake Park RC and I was immediately hooked. After that my dad took me to SS Hobbies & Raceway and I met Kenny Setser. He took me under his wing and taught me racing skills and etiquette.

2. What class do you prefer to compete in today, and why?

I started out in 2wd Buggy and now run 4wd Buggy on both carpet and dirt tracks. I prefer 4wd racing because the intense battles. It’s so much fun.

3. What is your biggest win to date and why?

The 2022 EMERGE Series in the Independent Stock 2wd Buggy class was my biggest race win. There were so many good racers there to compete with, and it was my first race after stepping out of Novice. I learned how to handle a variety of pressure.

4. To date what is your favorite JConcepts product of all time and why?

The Silver compound Ellipse tires are my all time favorite! They always bring home the wins when I run those tires. The grip is amazing from the time you first glue them up until the foams are coming through.

5. What other hobbies are you into besides RC cars?

I like basketball and video games.
