Friday5 With Team Driver Peyton Heizer

In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to California team driver, Peyton Heizer!

1. How did you learn about RC car racing? What class did you participate in to begin with and why?

My dad had a few old AE cars sitting around from the early 2000’s. I thought they were so interesting from their looks, geometry, and just seeing videos of his cars performing. I started in 1/10 off-road 2wd Buggy. The reasoning for this came from my dad, “If you can drive a 2wd buggy and drive it well, you can drive anything.”

2. From your experience what is the easiest AND hardest maintenance task on your RC cars?

I’d say easiest/most enjoyable maintenance is rebuilding diffs. It’s something that’s quick and easy to do, and I know it will make my car handle better. Hardest/most tedious is pulling a piston and sleeve. I’ve messed up pistons and sleeves in the past trying to pull them and overall I just dread it.

3. When life interferes and you can’t wheel your RC car, how do you quench your thirst for RC?

When I can’t go out and race, I’ll usually browse Facebook to see what other RC drivers are doing, where they’re racing, go out and bash with friends, occasionally listen to the No Name RC podcast, or call other drivers I’m friends with and catch up with them.

4. Which JConcepts product, in your opinion, is a must-have on race day when going to the track and why?

Besides the obvious, that being JConcepts tires and wheels, a must have JConcepts product on all race days is an S15 body and F2I wing. They look great and perform even better when going around a track.

5. Besides RC cars, what other hobbies are you into?

Other hobbies of mine are playing baseball, hiking, working out, hanging with friends, traveling and gaming.
