Race Team Update – December 2023 Week #2

As the year is coming to an end, the JConcepts race team doesn’t show any signs of slowing down as they continue to climb their way to the top of the podium. Read about our continued winning ways in this edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report up in Monroe, WA where the Evergreen State Fairgrounds are located. This past weekend Round 3 of the Diehard RC Experience was held there and this round saw over 160 entries! Competing for the team at this race was team driver Robert Sorjonen, and he finished 4th in Masters 2wd Buggy and 2nd place in 13.5 4wd Buggy!

Team driver Tyler Wilbur also competed in two classes at this round, and he finished 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and 2nd overall in Mod 4wd Buggy!

Heading down to California we catchup with team driver Mike Sorchy. This past weekend he competed at SDRC in San Diego for the the final round of their Endless Summer Series. After the points were calculated he would finish 3rd overall in the Mod 2wd Buggy class!

Shooting over to Texas let’s get this quick update from JC driver Billy DiCorte Jr.

He raced last weekend at the Thornhill Racing Circuit in the city of Hutto to compete in their points series, and when it was all said and done he would finish 5th in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy and 2nd place in Expert 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Kicking it north into Kansas we stop in at Newton where the RC Pitstop and Raceway is located. This past weekend they held Round 2 of their Carpet Wars series and team driver Ken Peterson finished 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy!

Heading even further north we stop in at Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they held Round 2 of their Winter Series which saw 151 entries! Team driver Mason Herrick was in attendance, and he would finish 9th in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy after he ended his A Main run early with a DNF, but he bounced back later on with a win in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy!

His tire teammate Brandon Kearney competed in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Truggy classes for this most recent round, and he would end the day with the double TQ and win!

JC pilot Ashton Abdul raced in both the Expert 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would end the round with a 3rd place finish in e buggy and a TQ and W in nitro buggy! Joining him on the nitro buggy podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Drew Rubenking!

Team driver Joe Scaramell also raced in the Expert 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He wasn’t able to make the transfer to the A Mains, but still had a great time while running fast!

Whipping it over to Wisconsin we stop in at Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken for our next report.

Team driver Ryan Derenne attended their recent Winter Series event and he would finish 5th in 40+ super Stock 2wd Buggy and 3rd overall in Mod Stadium Truck!

Flying out east we land at Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME to see how the team finished up at their Ho Ho Ho Trophy Race. Team driver John Cravotta reported that he finished 5th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 2nd place in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy! His tire teammate Daniel Sedler finished 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy and took the TQ and 1st place in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy!

Heading down the coast we now stop in at RC Madness in Enfield, CT. They recently held their Winter Speed Fest, and once again team drivers Daniel Sedler and John Cravotta competed for the hardware. Starting with John he would finish 4th in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 3rd place in Mod 2wd Buggy!

Daniel would finish 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy and took another TQ and W in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! Joining Daniel on the 17.5 2wd Buggy podium was fellow JC driver Matt Sousa in 2nd place!

Our next stop is at The Track in Gaithersburg, MD. Team driver Brian Miskolczi and his son Layton competed there recently for their Holiday Blast event. Layton would finish 3rd in Mod 4wd Buggy while Brian took the TQ and wins in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes!

Also competing there for the team was JC driver Jose Zayas in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes along with Stadium Truck. He would finish the event with a TQ in both the Stadium Truck and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes, plus a 2nd place finishes in both buggy classes and the win in truck!

Flying down to Florida let’s see how the team performed at a few events happening throughout the state. Our first stop is at Dean’s All Out RC in Apopka for their recent trophy event that brought out 161 entries! Team driver Hunter King competed in both the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Open 1/8 Electric Truggy classes, and he would race on to take the double TQ and win! Joining him on the e buggy podium were his tire teammates Julien Oliveras (2nd), JR Mitch (4th) and Dustin Spallone (5th)!

Fellow JC driver Tony Rivas competed in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class where he took the TQ and win! He was joined on the podium by fellow JC driver Luis Perez in 2nd place!

For our final report this week we now head to Sundancers Raceway RC Club in Port Saint Lucie. They recently held Round 3 of the Southern Showdown series and team driver Joshua Vicidomini reported that he raced in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Open 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes. He would end up with a 2nd place finish in both classes, plus the TQ in the nitro class! He was joined on the e buggy podium by fellow tire teammate Brett Kingsbury in 1st place!
