Race Team Update – January 2024 Week #1

Even the short holiday break can’t stop the team’s winning ways in 2024! Read how we got this year off to another great start in this week’s edition of the Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report out at Thunder Alley R/C Speedway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they hosted the Beast of the East Triple Crown which saw over 300 entries! We had many drivers competing at this event so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. He reports that he competed in the Mini Truggy class and took the win with his tire teammate Frank Deiny joining him on the podium in 2nd place!

Team driver Josh Parrish raced in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes at this event, and he wrapped up the weekend with a 4th place finish in Mod 2wd and 3rd place finish in Mod 4wd!

JC pilot Dave McEwen signed up for five classes at this race! He made the top 5 in all of them and he also earns our coveted “ironman” award this week for competing in the most classes!

  • Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy = 3rd
  • Pro4 SCT = 4th
  • Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy = 4th
  • Pro Mod 2wd Buggy = 5th
  • Pro Mod 4wd Buggy = 5th

JConcepts driver Colton Kruse raced in the Expert 17.5 2wd and Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy classes where he finished 1st overall in both! He was joined on the 17.5 podium by fellow JC drivers Ryan Caudle (2nd), Dave McEwen (3rd), Frank Deiny (4th) and Jose Zayas (5th) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

Speaking of Jose he also competed in three other classes and finished in the top 3 in all of them!

  • 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy = 1st
  • Pro Mod 4wd Buggy = 2nd
  • Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy = 3rd

Team driver Derrick Harris also attended this event and signed up for the Pro Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He just missed the bumped to the A Main in e buggy, but he made the big show in e truggy where he finished in 7th place!

JC driver Javon Mallory competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes at this race, and he would finish 3rd in e buggy and 2nd place in nitro buggy!

Team driver Marlowe Bright let us know that he suffered a DNF in Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, finished 7th in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and 4th place in 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy! He was joined on the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy podium by fellow team driver Rusty Mihelich in 3rd place!

Speaking of Rusty he also TQed the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished 2nd in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class! His daughter Maddy Long finished 7th in Pro Mod 4wd Buggy, grabbed the TQ and finished 2nd in Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy, plus another TQ and also the W in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Staying in North Carolina we now head to Turn and Burn Hobby & Raceway in Winston-Salem for our next update. Team driver Evan Cole recently competed there in their Snowball Race, and he took the TQ and win in the Pro 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Heading down south we fly into Sundancers Raceway RC Club in Port Saint Lucie, FL to see how the team performed at Round 4 of the Southern Showdown Series.

Team driver Joshua Vicidomini reports that he finished 2nd in Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and he also took the TQ and W in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! Taking the win in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class was his tire teammate Brett Kingsbury!

Now let’s rock out of Florida and head up to Knoxville, TN where ROCCK Racing is located. Over the holiday break they held their Disco Brawl trophy race which netted 252 entries!

Competing there for the team was JC driver Bella Rogers, and she let us know that she finished 3rd in 1/8 Electric Buggy and 2nd overall in 1/8 Electric Truggy!

Bouncing up to the “Hoosier” state let’s now catch up with team driver Ilan Sanderson. Recently he went to Finish Line Raceway in the city of Hudson to compete in Round 1 of their Turf Wars off-road series. He competed in two classes and wrapped up the round with a 2nd place finish in 17.5 2wd Buggy and a win in the Mod 2wd Buggy class!

Working our way up to Wisconsin let’s stop in at Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway in New Franken to see how the team finished up at a few of their recent events.

For Round 11 of their Fall Points Series team driver Ryan Derenne would finish 7th in Mod Stadium Truck and 4th place in 40+ Super Stock 2wd Buggy!

For Round 12 it was team driver Richie Peters leading the charge for the team. He raced in the 17.5 2wd and Mod Buggy classes and would take the win plus set the TQ in the 17.5 class!

Crossing over the stateline we now head to the RC Underground in Warren, MN to get this quick update from team driver Dustin Grandbois. He recently competed there in Round 3 of their points series, and he put in solid results which included three TQs for the round!

  • 17.5 2wd buggy = TQ and 1st
  • 13.5 Stadium Truck = TQ and 1st
  • 13.5 4wd Buggy = TQ and 2nd

Heading down to the “show me state” let’s see how the team finished up at the recent Childress RC Winter Series event held at KC Hall in Sullivan. Starting with team driver Jeremy Mark he let us know that in the Pro Modified class his Sudden Impact truck won both brackets! His 2nd truck Mongoose also made the first final round, and the semi finals in bracket 2! In the Sport Modified class his Taurus 3 replica TQed and won racing bracket 1! His Buffalo Tremor 3 replica made the finals of bracket 1 and won racing bracket 2 as well! In the Retro class his mini Taurus 1 truck made the semi-finals of bracket 1 and TQed bracket 2! His Buffalo Tremor 2 replica made the finals of bracket 2 as well!

Fellow JC driver Chris Parrish was at this event, and he swept both Retro brackets with his Master of Disaster truck, plus won the Drag Racing bracket after also defeating his team truck Bear Foot Racer in the semi finals! In the Chicago style bracket, his Vile Red Falcon won the bracket while his Bear Foot Racer made it to the semi finals again! In Sport Mod his Never Satisfied rig was in the semi finals in the Drags bracket and also the finals in the Chicago style bracket after defeating his truck Bear Foot Racer in the semi finals! In the ProMod class his Indominus was the TQ in the Drags bracket and also made it to the semi finals! In the Chicago style bracket it also made it to the finals after also defeating his Equalizer truck in the semi finals!

He recently visited Onion Creek RC in Coffeyville, KS to race their New Year’s Eve dirt oval event and he would finish 8th overall in the Outlaw Sprint class!
