Race Team Update – January 2024 Week #2

As the temps drop outside the JConcepts team continues to heat things up on tracks across the US. Read about our red hot winning ways in this week’s edition of the Race Team Update!

One place that is always sunny is San Diego, CA which is our first stop in this week’s report. Last weekend SDRC Raceway held Round 1 of their Supercross Series which brought out 120 entries!

Team driver Chris Raymond signed up for the 40+ 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes where he finished 2nd overall in both!

His sons Chase and Levi were also battling for the top podium spot at this round too. Starting with Chase he would finish 1st in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class and was joined on the podium by his tire teammates Levi Raymond (2nd) and Brenden Edwards (3rd) to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!

In the Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy class this time Levi would claim the top spot with Chase finishing one step below him!

Now we head east and touchdown in Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they held Round 3 of their Winter Points series with temps reaching negative digits outside! However, that didn’t cool off the competition inside as we had several drivers in attendance.

Starting with team driver Bradley Peterson he competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class where he finished 6th overall!

JC driver Mason Herrick finished 2nd in this class along with a TQ and win in the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy! Joining him on the e buggy podium in 2nd place was fellow JC driver Drew Rubenking!

Team driver Brandon Kearney competed in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Truggy classes at this most recent round, and he would finish 3rd in e truggy and 2nd in nitro truggy!

Team driver and race director Alex Sturgeon competed in the Mini Truggy class and he would take the TQ and win!

Now we head up to Woodbury, MN where Dollar Hobbyz is located. Last Friday they held another round of their Friday night Winter series, and team driver Thor Ott competed in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class. When the night had concluded he would take the TQ and win, and he was joined on the podium by fellow JC drivers Kyle Holmberg (2nd) and Brayden Nelson (3rd) to complete the JC podium sweep!

Heading over to Michigan we now stop in at RC ONE Racing in Macomb Township. This past weekend they held their off-road carpet trophy race and team driver Jeff Todd signed up for the 17.5 Stadium Truck and 40+ 2wd Mod Buggy classes. He would finish the race with a 10th place finish in truck and a 3rd place in buggy!

Now we head to Traction Action RC Raceway & Hobbies in Plainview, NY for our next update. They recently held their Manufacturer’s Cup and team driver Andrew Sreckovich raced in the 13.5 4wd buggy class where he finished in 3rd place!

Next, let’s head to Maximus RC Raceway in York, ME for our next driver report. This past weekend they held their January Thaw Race and team driver John Cravotta competed in the 17.5 Expert and Mod 2wd Buggy classes. He would finish 2nd overall in both buggy classes, and taking the win in both classes was fellow JC driver Daniel Sedler!

Heading down the coastline we now visit R/C Excitement in Fitchburg, MA to see how the team finished at their 19th Annual Snowball trophy event. Team driver Matt Perault raced in the 17.5 and 40+ 2wd Buggy classes, and he would finish 3rd overall in the 17.5 plus grabbed the TQ and W in the 40+ class! Joining him on the 40+ podium was fellow JC driver Michael Fredericks in 3rd place!

Continuing our trek down the east coast we now make our way to RC Madness in Enfield, CT for this report from JConcepts driver Eric Bresnahan.

He let us know that he competed in their recent January Jam trophy race, and at the end of the day he finished 2nd overall in the Stadium Truck class, plus he took the TQ and win in the 17.5 Short Course Truck class!

Also competing at this event were JConcepts drivers John Cravotta and Daniel Sedler once again. John competed in the 17.5 Expert and Mod 2wd Buggy classes, and he would finish the event with a 4th place finish in 17.5 buggy and 3rd place in Mod buggy! Daniel would set the TQ in the 17.5 class then race on to finish 2nd overall in both 17.5 Expert and Mod 2wd Buggy!

Our final tour stop in this week’s report is at Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC. They held their 2nd Annual Vintage World Classic which brought in 150 entries! This race was a mix of vintage and modern RC cars, and team driver Josh Parrish was in attendance.

He signed up to compete in the Vintage 17.5 2wd Buggy class where he finished 3rd overall!

His tire teammate Dave McEwen competed in five classes at this race:

  • Vintage 10.5 4wd Buggy = TQ and 1st place
  • Vintage 17.5 2wd Buggy = TQ and 2nd place
  • Vintage Stadium Truck = 9th place
  • Mod 4wd Buggy = TQ and 1st place
  • Mod 2wd Buggy = 4th place

Those are solid results and he also earns our coveted “ironman” award this week for racing in five classes!

Team driver Maddy Long competed in two different 4wd Buggy classes at this race. In the Mod 4wd Buggy class she would race on to finish 3rd while in 13.5 4wd Buggy she came home with the TQ and win!

Team driver Ryan Caudle raced in the Mod 2wd Buggy class where he finished 3rd overall!
