Race Team Update – January 2024 Week #4

As the month of January wraps up the JConcepts race team keeps their momentum moving forward with more wins on the track! Read about our continued winning ways in this week’s Race Team Update!

We start this week’s report at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO. This past weekend they held their 2024 JConcepts Off-Road Jam that brought out 175 entries! We had several drivers in attendance so let’s see how they finished up starting with team driver Nick Gibson.

He raced in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would double down with two TQs and wins!

JConcepts driver Riley Filbert also competed in these same two classes where he finished 4th in wheeler and 2nd overall in the 2wd class!

Team driver Mason Herrick was also running the mod classes at this event. He would lock up the 3rd spot in the 2wd class and finished 2nd overall in the Mod 4wd!

Team pilot Braxten Culley was also running in the mod classes at Fastlane. He would wrap up the event with a 5th place finish in 2wd and 3rd overall in mod wheeler!

Team driver Shane Alberico competed in the 13.5 4wd and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. He would end the event with a 9th place finish in 2wd and 3rd place in wheeler!

JC driver Andrew Thomas also competed in these two competitive classes. He would wrap up the race with a 3rd place finish in 2wd and the 2nd spot in 4wd! Joining him on the 17.5 2wd podium were his teammates Matthew Pyle (2nd) and Sam Ford (4th)!

Speaking of Matthew he also signed up for two other classes at this race. He finished 4th 13.5 Buggy along with the TQ and a 2nd place finish in the 13.5 2wd SCT class!

Team driver Drew Spurgeon made the drive up to compete in the 40+ 2wd Buggy class. He would set the TQ and then race on the take the W for the weekend!

JC driver Orlando Martinez competed in three classes this past weekend. When the dust had settled he would finish 8th overall in the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes along with a 3rd place finish in 40+ 2wd Buggy!

Moving to Illinois we now stop in the city of Morris where the Thunderdome is located. Team driver Cody Meiferdt recently traveled there to compete in Illinois State Championships, and he would end the event with a TQ and W in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Bouncing over to Indiana let’s roll up to Bill’s RC in Marion for our next report. This past weekend they held their Vintage Invitational event and team driver Kyle Munson was in attendance. He competed in the Vintage Stadium Truck and Post 1997 Buggy classes, and he would end up 2nd in truck and took the TQ and win in buggy!

Moving up to Michigan we get our update from team driver Chris Rothwell. He went to Livonia where Dirt Burner Racing is located to compete in their Winter Nationals trophy race. He qualified 5th overall in the 40+ 2wd Buggy class then raced on to take the win in the A Main! Joining him on the 40+ 2wd podium was his tire teammate Allen Horne in 3rd place!

Flying out east we touch down at Key City Hobby in Frederick, MD for this quick update from JC driver Jason Edwards. He went there recently to compete in a cash race in the Class 2 division where he pulled off the victory!

Veering our way down to Cheasepeake, VA let’s get a quick update from team driver Maddy Long. She was in town competing a points race held at Coastal RC on their carpet track. She would leave town with a TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class!

Kicking it back over to Middlesboro, KY let’s check in with JConcepts driver Wade Piggott. He recently went to RC Arena to compete in their New Year’s opener race. He competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes, plus Pro 1/8 Nitro Truggy, and he would finish 4th in e buggy, 3rd in nitro buggy and took the TQ and win in truggy!

Also running laps at this event was his tire teammate Jonah Wilson. He TQed both the Pro 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes and would end up 2nd in e buggy and took home the win in nitro buggy!

Heading south we now stop in at Phil Hurd Raceway in Savannah, GA for our next report. This track recently held a round of the SCORE series and team driver David Olsen reported that he captured the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class!

Flying down to Newberry RC Park in Newberry, FL we had many drivers competing at a special fund raiser for RC enthusiast Justin Jones who recently was injured in an accident. Not only did the event bring out some great competition, but the drivers did a great job as they raised nearly $9,000 to help him with his recovery! For the race program itself team driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. competed in the 13.5 4wd and 1/8 Electric Buggy classes, and he finished 5th in e buggy and took the victory in 13.5 wheeler! He was joined on the 13.5 wheeler podium by fellow JConcepts driver Kyle Paquette in 2nd place!

JC pilot Nolan Manchester took the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class, plus picked up win in a special Cruiser Stadium Truck event!

JC driver Zach Griggs competed in the 13.5 4wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes, and he would finish 4th in wheeler and 3rd place in truck!

Shooting over to Texas let’s see how the team performed at 4way Speedway in Abilene for their annual Brisket Bowl race event. Starting with team driver Jordan Hefler, apparently he wanted to get out turn marshaling as he signed up to compete in seven classes!

  • SC Mod = TQ and 1st place
  • SC Late Model = TQ and 1st place
  • Midwest Mod = TQ and 1st place
  • Midwest Midget = TQ and 1st place
  • Wingless Sprint = TQ and 3rd place
  • Late Model = TQ and DNF
  • Mudboss = 1st place

That are some impressive results and he definitely earns our coveted “ironman” award this week!

JConcepts driver Dillon Bontrager raced in three different classes, and he would come home with a 3rd place finish in Late Model, plus a win in Wingless Sprint and the TQ and win in the Sprint class!

Team driver Kevin Mcnatt competed in the SC Mod class where he finished 3rd overall!

Our final report this week comes to us courtesy of team driver Andrew Beauchamp. This past weekend he went to Tacoma R/C Raceway in Tacoma, WA to compete in Round 3 of the Northwest Indoor Series. He signed up for the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would finish 2nd overall in both of them! Joining him on the mod wheeler podium in 1st place was fellow JC driver Austin Cracknell!
