2024 INS Spring Indoor Nationals JConcepts Team Report

The first carpet round of the 2024 INS Series (The Spring Indoor Nationals) is complete and it was a sellout show! The JConcepts crew headed out to RC One Raceway in Macomb, Michigan for the 300 entry event. Another record for a carpet or turf turnout for JConcepts. The track layout was extremely tricky for both the stock and modified classes with large jumps and a lot of precision required.

Thursday was a controlled practice day with racers getting acclimated to the surface and layout before heading into Friday. Friday would see seeding and the first round of qualifying. Seeding would be a success for the team with the following results.

Seeding Results:

2wd Modified: 1st Broc Champlin, 2nd Chase Lemieux, 4th Tom Rinderknecht

Main Event Results:

2wd Modified: The Main events in 2wd were fantastic battles in A1 and A2. Chase would strike first taking the win in A1 and Broc would answer with a win in A2. The two drivers would split 2nd place finishes and Tom Rinderknecht would finish 3rd in the first 2 mains. A3 would be a complete disaster of sorts, the Champlin and Lemieux would break away early with Champlin getting a sizable enough gap, Chase would break just after the 3:30 mark effectively giving the weekend win to Broc, Broc would continue to cruse along until a car would launch from an on-coming lane and completely destroy the front end of his buggy ending his race. Rinderknecht would end up winning A3 after all of the calamity. Not only would Broc end up losing out on winning A3 he would also end up losing the tie-breaker for the win with Chase. The final top 3 order would be as follows:

1st Chase Lemieux (JC), 2nd Broc Champlin (JC), 3rd Tom Rinderknecht (JC)

4wd Modified: 4wd Mod would be much more relaxed with Broc Champlin able to strike with wins in A1 and A2. These results wouldn’t come easy with Dakotah Phend finishing less than a second back in 2nd in both races. Dakotah would go on to win A3 and finish 2nd overall and Aydin Horne would round out the podium.

1st Broc Champlin (JC), 2nd Dakotah Phend (JC), 3rd Aydin Horne
